View Full Version : Worldspawn (help the newbie plz)
Hey what do I need a worldspawn for if I can just use info_player_start to set my spawn point?
Also, how do I put a worldspawn in my map? i just get an error that says "can't create an entity with worldspawn"
I want to use the ambient light feature but I can't figure out how to put a worldspawn in.

1. Worldspawn has nothing to do with player spawn.
2. You don't create a worldspawn because it's already there.
3. (Have to answer this one AGAIN!?!?!?)
Deselect everything and press n. Find worldspawn in the list and add the keys:
light
300
Then:
_color
1 1 1
300 is around daylight level, and 1 1 1 is the colour white.

SP_Worldspawn: the first entity isn't worldspawn
at least its similar to that...

I've never had that ambient light or the light 300 texts work in the Worldspawn.

ambient
50
_color
1 1 1
If you want to use ambient light. Light might work, but for consistency it is better to use the ambient key.

I've messing around with light entities alot he last couple of days... mind got kinda side tracked.
The key is ambient, not light.
Coyote: Beats me, never had that problem. Worldspawn has always been there as soon as I start a map.
BTW, sorry about the curtness of my first post, JKR is pissing me off with curve crashes.

You should never have that problem with a newly created map.
If you accidentally pressed n and deleted the worldspawn key there, that will reset your worldspawn to a later location in your map which will in turn screw up your map...
I've never found a way to fix this and ended up restarting my map from scratch. Luckily when I did it, it was just one of my "learning" maps, so no real harm done. :D
