Selecting multiple sufaces?

How do you select multiple surfaces?

I saw in a tutorial that you press ctrl + shift + alt while selecting them, but it doen't seem to work.

I never could get it to work, myself...

Instead, I just texture one surface like I like it, then highlight each individual surface that I want like it and third-mouse-button-click the original surface... works just as well. :D
