View Full Version : LivinddeadJedi: Your Duel of the Fates map

First of all... whow!

Your forcefield corridor really looks impressive.

Two hints:

If you don't have the energy beams running up the energy collums in the central chamber yet, you can make a cylinder with the "doomgiver/forcefield" texture (stretch it!!!) on it. Thus you will get a beam slowly running towards the ceiling. (similar to the effect of the Cairn Installation Hangar bay)

www.jediknightii.net has a Naboo N-1 Starfighter prefab.

Happy mapping!

I think he's getting someone to make a better model of the Naboo Starfighter. It's the author of the original, I think...

I agree, his coridor rocked! :)

we must have new picks of his map!
This is the only map i have been real excited about coming out

so far the 5 screenies ive seen were darn near perfect!

wonder if he solved the rotating red doors problem or are they just going to be red doors that open and close but not rotate

Hey everyone, I've spoken with LivingDeadJedi about the key issues you guys have mentioned, and since I am one of the beta testers, I know what the map does, and I can say that the energy beams do move, they aren't solid like they appear to be in just a screenie, if I had a small movie, I'd show ya... which I might be able to do with the jedi knight recorder, although I am not sure if the custom textures will show up.. but I will give it a try, and Living is having another guy make the Naboo Fighter, because with the sheer size of the hangar, he, if he does, would be able to fill up every slot with a larger version of the Fighter, PLUS have Lando's ship in the main hangar as well... and he is working on making the doors animated so that they rotate, and he has the sound to go with it, so thats solved, and he is just tweaking other stuff as well, since he is also making a small duel map that has a shuttle you can actually WALK in to... so, that's the latest from Living... Hope that answered your questions.

here are the screenshots as seen floating around the net

Just received word from LivingDeadJedi that the Duel of The Fates map is nearing release..He is just working out some lag issues and some shader errors, but stay tuned to JK2.net and the forums for news to come... !!!

Looks good.

But, why would Lando's ship be there? And what exactly IS Lando's ship? The Falcon? Eh?

I am not really sure what Living is up to, but that's what he kept talking about, is that Lando's ship fits almost TOO perfectly into the main hangar, and that the naboo fighter model out there is too small for his map.. looks out of proportion... what I do know is that he sent a copy of DOTF I believe to Jedi Outcast Maps for review and beta testing.. it was either that or The Shuttle Walk-in Map

That's been taken care of. There was another topic about this in the valley of the jedi. http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=53681 .
The screens are located at this site: http://www.jedioutcastmaps.com/beta.php?id=121 .

*edit- I hope that will tide you over till the map comes out!*

is a Beta Tester for Duel of The Fates, and I only took a few screenshots at first as to allow people to get first notice, once more beta testers came along, and more got accomplished, we gave a copy to Jedi Outcast Maps for their turn to take a peak... I just ran some tests for FPS and with all the graphics turned up on my card this is what I tested it on

AMD ATHLON 900 overclocked to 972
192 Mb RAM
AOPEN AK73 motherboard
and it set at a resolution of 1024x768

the highest FPS I got in the Main room with all the energy beams was 22, and medium graphics, it peaked at 55, and the low end, it peaked at 70

so hopefully that will give you an idea.. I know a good # of people have a lot better video cards, so they will get better FPS that I ever will:)

for the other rooms on MAX: I got 60
for the other rooms on MED: I got 75
for the other rooms on LOW: I got 90

But I am getting a new GeForce 4 card tomorrow, so I will update you guys on how well the map does after that... the map is a lot bigger than 75% of the maps out there...

*EDIT after doing some tweaking of the system, I got my fps a little higher.. what I did was I typed this udner the console

com_maxfps 120 meaning that JO is set the default max frames to 120, but for those with high-end video cards, it will push yours even higher up!!!!
