Hello everybody, first time poster here. I understand this is the place to come for JKII. Here's my situation:

I downloaded the demo for Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. Installation seemed to go fine but I can't get the game to load up properly!

What happens is I get a flashing white screen. As it flashes I can barely see the menu choices for the game and I can hear the music playing. I've tried all compatibility modes and it doesn't work. I check the FAQ for this game and it said that there are issues with 32 bit color modes. I changed my settings to 16 bit and that gave a different "effect." I was still getting the flashing but I could see the menu's a lot clearer. I was actually able to properly exit out of the program instead of ending task. So I must be getting close... A refresh rate perhaps?

I'm running XP Pro on Gigabyte GA-6BXC mb, 450 MHz PIII, 768 MB PC100 SDRAM, ATI Radeon VE. All my drivers are current and I have the latest updates installed.

I downloaded a program called Rage 3D Tweak. It adds 3 more tabs to your display settings and is meant for optimizing ATI video cards. There were a lot of settings in there that I'm not familiar with but it looks like something that might help me. Anyone ever used this program?

Better yet, anyone playing this game in XP? If so, how did you get it to work? I tried doing a google search but didn't find much....

Oh, I also get this same exact problem with Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed.

I get the same problem under XP on a M841 motherboard with built on SIS AGP video, even though this is suposed to be a good builtin video solution

Iīm using AMD Athlon 1700+ with ASUS motherboard, 512 RAM and GF4 MX440 with XP pro and the game is working perfect.

Donīt know how i could help you but maybe gfx-cards drivers update could fix the problem? dunno

I'm using XP as well and I don't have any problems. Did you have the Rage 3d tweak before you got the demo? If you did, I'd start by uninstalling that, removing your vid card from the list of devices, restarting and re-installing the original drivers for your vid card. If that doesn't work, then I'd start tweaking with the OpenGL color and texture settings etc on those extra tabs. I've never used that software before, so I can't give any direct advice. But basically, after starting with straight from the factory vid drivers I'd mess with the settings. And then update to the latest drivers.

I had this exact same problem for the longest time and I'm not entirly sure what I did to fix it. Lucasarts was useless in helping me. What I ended up doing was changing alot of drivers and settings as advice from people here and then I logged onto another account and tried running the game and to my amazement it worked. Since that moment I could log back on to my account and it worked perfect from then on.
