No-CD patches

I recently scratched my Jedi Knight II cd and it wont work in my drive, i will probably get it fixed up later next week, but anyways I found a couple no-cd patches and was woundering if theres sound while you play and if you can get rid of it later when i get my cd back, also is there anything else i should know?

y donty u jsut install the patches and check
if then just re install if u cant remove them
u can keep all save games and stuff

naw i still have everything, legally i could get my friend to burn it and give it to me since it would be classified as a backup but that would take days
