Y Does Padme luv Anakin?! (spoiler)

SPOILERS BELOW (KIND OF):
How the heck does Padme fall in love with Anakin in the movie? I mean Anakin is this dumbass arrogant bratty little prick, and Padme is this oh-so-smart senator and she falls for him?!
I mean come on! He comes back and tells padme "Boohoo, i slaughtered those raiders like animals, not just the men, the women and children the babies!!".. and this dumb ho is like "Oh, i love u!"?!
I mean WTF?!
I think George forced them to love each other cos yeah they need to have kids later on (Luke & Leia) but come on, at least make Anakin kind of nice...

There're a couple factors here: 1) The Force is still manipulating events as it did with Anakin's conception; 2) Padme felt sorry for him--she saw him falling toward the Dark Side more than anyone else... she'd just told him she loved him when she thought they were both about to die and if she pulled out then... he might've gone psycho on her... maybe something like that DID happen offscreen. Anyway, maybe she thought that she could pull him back from the brink by giving him someone to love. Of course, we all know that he goes over anyway and she dies alone and sad... They elope without any conscent and the concequences will ultimately destroy the Republic and the Empire within a single generation.
