Does anyone know if this is possible? I'm using Win2k Pro. I know you can get software that will allow you to do this, but I want to do it for free if possible!

Thanks Kramerika. Next question. While it's running as a service is it possible to view the console output?

Gustaf777 try asking your question in it's own thread! My ded. server also shows up in my browser only as local and with [UDP], but it still shows up to others as Internet. I think the UDP bit just means it's using UDP protocol, maybe you can use IPX too for local servers, I don't really know. I would not worry about it so much!

Never mind, I worked it out myself. I just set the service to "Interact with desktop" and ticked "Console Application" in Firedeamon and that sorted it.

Just for everyone's personal info, I IM'd Gustaf and learned that he never really had a problem. After waiting a short bit, his friends could see his server listed. He was too lazy to come back and let everyone know that. I gave him a hard time about complaining that the forum was dead and nobody helped him. ;)
