AFAIK the spyware contains more than just pop-ups, it's a .dll file that sends user realted information to the kazaa guys (sherman networks owns kazaa so i think the info goes to them)

From what I've heard, it's pretty much impossible to block all of the spyware.

That's why I use KaZaA Lite (http://www.kazaalite.com/).

Just search the internet (Yahoo) for:

"Kazaa Spyware dll cracked" (or something like that)

I stopped using Kazaa once I read about thespyware in it. I just don't want other people knowing what I do on my computer... [face_innocent.gif] ;)

But seriously, I just started using Grokster, a direct clone of Kazaa/Morpheus with different colors. I'll have to check out this Kazaa Lite though.

grokster has as much spyware as Kazaa, I use kazaa Lite to.

Seriously? Damn... I guess I'll start using Kazaa Lite as well.

problem with adaware is that if you remove the spyware from kazaa it wont run so you have to get kazza lite and then tell adaware to ignore the dummy dll file.

true matt, ad-aware scans for spyware (i use it too!). but when you use ad-aware to delete the cd_clint.dll it found in your windows/system folder, kazaa won't work anymore, it just says "wrong installation, please install again" (or something) every time you start it up.
that's why recommend using the cracked cd_clint.dll (if somebody needs it, just search for "Kazaa Spyware dll cracked" or drop me an email). the dll pretends to send the user information to sherman networks, but in reality it does nothing more than sending the "informaion send" confirmation to the kazaa software

Uh Monkey, I'm glad you don't program software.

In addition to credit card info, there's SPAM (ARGH!), and eating up cpu clock cycles.

I don't think anyone should have that sort of control over someone else. Yes, people need to make money, but not that way, thank you.
