View Full Version : simple rules

i think we should come up with some basic rules. that way if someone disagrees (and by disagree i mean huge disagreements like they really just dont wanna play on corellia or something like that, not like "gaalgoth said i was being a d***"...childish kinda stuff like that can be worked though...) with us they can simply walk away before coming deeply involved in our group.

the only good one i can really think of for now is that no premature, self-proclaimed jedi (you know, people that already are calling themselves jedi masters) should be allowed to join, without at least coming up with something else they wanna do. that way if they fail they wont just quit the game entirely because they can still be a part of our great PA.

what does everyone else think?

I saw we make the jedi PAs our declared enemies and beat the snot out of those forceless fools.

Yes! And while they run around, unarmed, whining "why can't my character block blasters with his mind? I've played for twenty ****ing minutes!", we strike them unconcious, and drag them away to be sold as spicemining slaves.

Then they can be how force sensitive they want.

ROFL :D

Why sell them?

I hear Kwok need workers in his mines. The cheaper, the better, right? ;)

Gaalgoth

Exactly! Force them to mine (No pun intended, of course....). Arguile, I agree with you that people should start disagreements when I call them dicks. After all, If I do call them a dick then they must be one, right? =) And as for rules, we are going to need some once the game comes out. Until we know more specifics though I think we should limit it to no jedis joining....if you are going to join, you have to be a class that is not a jedi. doesn't matter what it is, just not jedi.

Sorry to get off the subject or anything, but I'm really pumped for really only about one thing, the jobs. Nothing else. Especially if your a transporter of goods. Like you have a schedule saying where and at what time it needs to be on Corellia, I think that will be the greatest part of SWG. That brings me to another question, will SWG have a time schedule? (noon, midnight, sun-up, sun-down, snow, rain, etc) This game will pwn j00!

Well, we must remember, when Gaalgoth calls someone a dick, he's complimenting them. He means that they are big, tough and strong!

Or was that boner...oh well...

But Augy, you must also remember that The Associates isn't a typical closely knit PA, like most. it's looser and rulers should be given out AFTER the game comes out, to see how everything works out!

This is my first post on The Ass. Forum!

LOL. I don't think that's the best abreviation you could have chosen.

What, are we not to call ourselves like, [Ass]setsuko ? :)

setsuko

Oh, and regarding the dusk and dawn, well, we have already seen complete day cycles in the movies from tatooine, and the devs even say that they will have unique cycles for each planet, so a day on tatooine will not be the same length as a day on couruscant.

Maybe Gaalgoth should have thought the group's name through a little more carefully. ;)

I think that a ban on jedi is a good thing because we dont really want to bring too much attention to ourselves whilst we are trying to get established. The first few months will probably be quite tough (little resources / power) so we dont want to have jedi parading around the place bring all sorts of trouble down on our heads.

and....The Associates will do for now after all, its not the name but the intentions that count at this stage.

The more that we talk about how we want things to proceed the better prepared we will be in the beginning. Although we cannot make a definate rulebook until the game is released we can at least decide on good plans of action (like the no jedi thing) at this stage.

uhmm.... i think "ass." isnt a good abreviation of the 'associates'... maybe we need a good abreviation for this :D

How about just A, as in A-Team! :D

yeah...i really like the idea that this is gonna be a loose PA. so the rules should be kept SIMPLE, which is why i named it SIMPLE rules. no really hard stuff. and notice the only one i thought was a good idea at this point was no jedi only people, which i figured most of you would agree with me on. so of course i dont want rigid rules, but as good broad/SIMPLE ones come up, i think its a good idea to post them and get feedback from others.

what about if we introduced a tythe system, where by each member has to put in say, 1-2% of their money each week to help fund the PA?

And I think that the name The Associates' sux:)

I think what we should decide on, is the server we are going to play on...

Wait, i'll make a poll! :)

No, it's called clusters. That is, each planet will have one server, and these will be connected into a 'galaxy', that is, what goes for a server in other MMORPGs. So, you can travel between the planetary servers, but you can not travel to another cluster of servers, which are separate galaxies.

So you can meet your friend on another planet, but not if they are on another cluster.

hey...dont attack the name. sure, its not the best it could be. but we said that before we made it. we just made a makeshift one. but as soon as you come up with a better one, we'll take a vote and see if it should be changed to that one. so strap on your thinkin cap and help us come up with a better one.

I forgot it was a temporary thing - we need to come up with a new one or people will get to know us as the assoc. and we could have a much cooler name.

I havent got the source books so I'm a bit limited on my background info but what about something like the FCA (Free Corellian Alliance)

Where did you come up with THAT !?!

Since when were kids allowed to post here too! It's not like that! Then how would they incorperate the Space Expansion?

ahhh, ic wut u mean now

So u could be on the same planet(ex. Tatooine) , but say ur in cluster 1, and their in Tatooine in cluster 2, then u wont be able to interact.

So im presuming that you would stay in the same cluster as long as u play, and not be able 2 travel(connect) 2 other clusters?

i dont know.. it would be fun to have comlinks to contact eachother.

well i think we dont realy need extensive rules.. it is just that if we ever start a major city.. we need to appoint someone who is gonna be the mayor of it... THEN we need rules.

Rules, Rules, I hate rules! I am bound by rules in my normal life already (ok, bound is perhaps a big word :) ) and I want do do the things the way I like to do them in this game. I want to go my own way. This doesnt mean that I am a solo-player, I love the PA and I'll do anything for it, but please don't bother me with strict rules.

I agree with the point of no-jedi wannabees, but every1 should get a chance. As long as they are realistic; 'I want to become a jedi, but I'll be a hairdresser first'. Most players (I hope) realise that you can't become an instant-jedi but alot of them want to be one. You should not block them joining the PA just because they have high hopes, just give them a chance.

Ofcourse noone likes whiners, immature rambling children, and people with eyecaps on, they should not be allowed to join. :D

To everyone blaming me for being a kid, sleeping with the devs, etc., for posting about the severs vs clusters issue: its from the E3 interview by computerandvideogames.com with TD (technical director) Jeff Grills:

"So will each planet be on its own server? How will that work?

Jeff: We've got this concept of a cluster, and the cluster is basically an instance of the galaxy, and we'll have every set of planets per cluster. You'll be able to move between planets in this cluster, but of course you won't be able to move between clusters. "

Never, ever, doubt my posts :D

Oh, and no, the devs are not cute enough for me to sleep with them, no matter how much info I would be able to attain from it ;)

Oh, and JekRendar, ye of little faith, it would not mess up the space expansion. They just have to have the space areas on separate servers on the cluster. It even makes it easier, since you can develop it separately, and then just attach them to the cluster when that time comes. If you don't have the expansion, all that happens is that you can't go to those servers on the cluster.

Actually, the amount of playing area that we are talking about makes it pretty hard to have everyting on one single server. When we are talking about that sort of requirements, a cluster is actually cheaper than building one über-server.

Rith Kain: yes, you got it. A person on "cluster 1" would be able to go to "corellia 1" and "tatooine 1", but not "naboo 3".

i think there should be only 2 rules:

rule 1:
IM ALWAYS RIGHT!

rule 2:
IF BY ANY CHANCE IM NOT RIGHT, RULE 1 WILL APPLY!

:D :D :D :D :D :p :D
