Son of a...

I put in RAM and video card upgrades last Tuesday. Then on Friday my computer just up and died on me. Dell is sending me a new motherboard (thank God it's still under waranty). Unfortunately I don't know how long it will take to get here. Until it arrives my posts will be kinda rare since I'm having to do it from work.

Well, Dell called me last night. They are out of stock so now it will be 3 to 5 business days. Man this sucks.

I have been without a computer for almost 2 weeks now and I still don't have the new motherboard. Does anybody have Michael Dell's home phone number? I want to call and yell at him a bit.

Not only am I seriously pissed, but I'm going through serious computer withdrawal symptoms.

Dave - that's not a good thing. ;)

Well, aparently somebody at Dell deleted the motherboard part of my order after I had been told it would be 3 to 5 days. So the motherboard order is just now going in. I am really getting pissed. 2 weeks now with no computer.

It's under waranty.

Well, get this guys. I got the motherboard in on Friday and replaced it on Saturday. My computer is still screwed. Now they are sending me a new power supply.

I've done motherboards and such before, but I have never replaced a power supply. Does anybody have any helpful advice?

To replace a power supply you need a star screwdriver.
unplug - unscrew - scew in new one - plug in new one

It's a sinch (sp?).

Well, I have replaced the power supply. I'm still off line, but there's progress. At least the computer tries to start now.

Hit it with a stick like all good engineers do. :)

But seriously, its quite easy, get a phillips head screwdriver (you should have a nice collection of these if you want to do any PC work). Just remove the existing power supply as one unit and screw the new one into its place. Walla. Plug in all the cables and what-not then prepare to return to the world of PC!
