Will you be able to select any color of lightsaber? I hope so cuz I get tired of blue, green, and red all the time. I like orange the best.

Personally I like the regular blue color the best, but it would be cool to be able to pick any saber color you wanted. Kinda like multiplayer JKII.

Yeah and I like how the battles are going to be more like how they are in the movies. Jedi Knight 2 is a great game and all, but the lightsaber battles leave much to be desired.

I think the light saber combat is probably harder to replicate while keeping it usable for a FPS. But with KOTOR being an rpg and not having the multiplayer problems, balancing between realfights and playablility for everyone, this game should have some great saber fighting.

Definitely. the producers and designers have already said that lightsaber battles galore will be throughout the game. Do you notice a sort of pattern with lightsaber colors?

EPISODE 1 : Qui-Gon Jinn (Master) : Green Saber
: Obi Wan (Padawan) : Blue Saber

EPISODE 2 : Obi-Wan Kenobi(Master) : Green Saber
: Anakin Skywalker(Padawan) : Blue Saber
: Yoda (Master of Masters) : Green Saber

Of course, this entire theory is invalidated to a point in Episode IV

Ben Kenobi : Blue Saber

Luke Skywalker : Blue Saber

EPISODE V

Luke, not yet a Jedi : Blue Saber

EPISODE VI : Luke, a full Jedi : Green Saber

Just a theory.

Err minor problemo...
Obi-Wan used a blue sabre in Episode II and probably will use blue again in Episode III (he used a blue in Episode IV)...

No but I think Lightsabre colour denotes nothing but perhaps individual choice on the Jedi's behalf.
Episode II shows loads of examples of this (Padawans and Masters with Green or Blue or even Purple).

Though Red seems to always be the colour Sith choose...The Episode II Visual Dictionary says this is due to synthetic crystals, which you can believe if you like *shrug*

That's true he did use a blue saber. Just watched the movie again, don't know why I thought Green. Need to get my color blind pills refilled. Oh well, so much for my theory!:D

The purple saber was a special request by Samuel Jackson to George Lucas, you'll never see one again weilded by another Jedi.

The Sith do use synthetic crystals in their sabers that give the sabers a more focused blade that is stronger than the average Jedi saber(though the difference in strength is negligible).

Actuallly, i'm pretty sure anakin solo had a Purple lightsaber...

He killed many Yuuzhan Vong with it, too.

So Purple does exist in the EU, and that's pretty much what KOTOR is based on.

Anakins was blue I'm afraid

That's interesting about Samuel L. Jackson.

I was hoping there would be a greater colour variety than what there was. Not really a complaint, more an observation.
I think a yellow or two or maybe an orange...I don't know about the orange, but the yellow would be sweet

It probley will be set to blue, but maybe they will let you I don't know.

Ki-Adi-Mundi has a Purple Saber.

Well, a theory that could fit in the SW universe is that since Mace uses such an aggressive fighting style (See Ep II Visual Dictionary. IT says that it edges close to Sith fighring), he has to use a mix of Jedi crystals (which are usually blue) and Sith Crystals (which are usually red)

Red- + Blue= Purple!

(unless I was wrong all of the time during my 2nd Grade art class)

Hey Norin! u didn't say anything wrong. Itīs true he had a blue one in the begining of EP2. But remember when OB1 n anakin r captured by dooku they loose their sabers. when the other jedi arrive, one of them gives them new ones n in that time OB's is green.
But your theory still doesn't work cuz in EP4 OB1 has a blue one again...

Just a little more info here....

acording to the new WotC Powers of the Jedi sorce book, lightsaber color has nothing to do with your power in the force or weather your a master or padawan or what kinda fighting style you use...

It has everything to do with the crystal you use in the lightsaber. And that sometime in the history of the jedi they lost a planet that had a really big suplie of crystals, (i think it was the planet that the sith set of the thought bomb on) so that now the only sorces of crystals they now about give blue and green blades. Thought they do have other sources that give other colors, thouse sources do not have as many crystals and are much rarer.

Actually when Anakin and obi1 were given their new lightsabres Anakin had a green lightsabre and obi1 had a blue lightsabre. All the Jedi in the battle of geonosis had blue and green lightsabres apart from mace windu. But yeah I think it would be kool if u could use different coloured lightsabres like yellow, orange, white. etc

master = green and padawan = blue SOOOO STUPID U HAVE NO PROOF, PLEASE DONT BE STUPID, ITS THE JEDI'S DECISION WHAT COOLOR HE/SHE WANTS!

DARTH ANDYZ

It's actually totally random the Jedi choose a crystal and if it's blue it's blue if it's green it's green. Only the sith choose their lightsabre crystal, hense there all red.

ZBomber

In the EU it doesn't really matter what color of saber you have/want.
Example: Jedi Power Battles, Plo Koon-Yellow saber, Adi Gallia?-Red saber.

In the movies which are canon, only sith can have red sabers. The jedi can have blue, green, and now purple (sam jackson at least for the purple).

In KOTOR, it probably doesn't matter a whole lot as long as you can choose the color of saber at all. Which has been tentatively reported that you can.

Like somebody earlier pointed out, this game is based on EU so if you can choose the color of your saber it probably doesn't matter if you're a dark jedi or a jedi for the color you choose. This is all just a guess anyways.

Why would you say that?

Just because the only red sabers we see are in sith hands who says that acourding to lucas they are the only ones that can have red sabers?

Ewok Hunter

yes it is EU, and in a lot of the other games, JK2 come to mind, where they let you chose your saber color it wasn't limited to your aligment. you could get a gean blade as a dark jedi and a red one as a light jedi. of course games are the furthest away from cannon, even farther away then the approved books *shrugs*

DARTH ANDYZ

Yea but have u noticed that some thing bad happends to every main character who have a blue lightsabre for example

ep1) obi wan loses his blue lightsabre
ep2) Obi wan uses his blue lightsabre and gets wounded in the arm and leg, Anakin uses a green and blue sabre loses the green fights with the blue and then get his arm chopped off.
ep4) Obi wan using a blue lightsabre get killed by vader
ep5) Luke using a blue lightsabre gets his hand chopped off.

And every1 who use a green lightsabre seems to be much better off apart from qui gon
ep1) obi wan kills darth maul using green lightsabre
ep2) Yoda almost kills dooku using green light sabre if he had not distracted him adn escaped
ep6) Luke using green lightsabre defeats vader who inturn redeems himself and as Anakin skywalker kills the emperor and forfills his prophecy as the chosen 1 as the one who would bring balance to the force.

So my request to bioware is give us a greenlight sabre if we can't choose i dont want to lose a arm of a hand or get my head chopped off (lol)

Ewok Hunter

first off:Welcome to the Kotor LucasForums Boards there is one kink in you reasoning, in ep.2 there are all those blue sabre jedi who lived and green daber ones who died.

DARTH ANDYZ
08-25-2002, 01:33 AM
Yes I know but when looking at that pic there are actually six jedi with green sabres and six Jedi with blue lightsabres and most of the jedi there are not main characters they are mostly secondary characters like klo ploon,ki adi mundi, adi gaila etc.

Ewok Hunter
08-25-2002, 01:44 AM
of course they are secondary charicters, if 12 main jedi chars, then the movie would be like 12 hours long. and about 12 i could have sworn hat there were more than that, I'll check when theDVD is released

DARTH ANDYZ
08-25-2002, 02:15 AM
Sooooo what i'm saying is that every main character that is vital to the star wars trilogy using a blue lightsabre seems to get all the bad luck also I should have added this only happends when thay are against sith lords.

Ewok Hunter
08-25-2002, 02:22 AM
uhh, last time I checked the scene with all the jedi was them agianst droids  . and besides how many sith lords have there been at any one point of time since the battle of Ruuan?

DARTH ANDYZ
08-25-2002, 02:59 AM
Yeah I know they were droids but what i'm saying is that bad things happen to Jedi that use blue lightsabres and are fighting against a sith lord

Obi wan vs Maul-loses blue lightsabre
Obi wan vs tyranus/dooku gets wounded in arm and leg
Anakin vs tyranus/dooku loses his green lightsabre and then whilst fighting with blue lightsabre gets half his arm cut off.
Obi wan vs vader gets killed
Luke vs darth vader loses his hand

Whilst fighting nething else it seems irrelivant.

Because that's the way we see them in the movies.....

I think why GL did this is to make a sith lord easily distinguishable from a jedi knight. This is done mostly for those people who have not seen a Star Wars movie or don't really know that much about it.....which is also why the jedi are limited to green, blue, and now purple lightsabers. (Don't want to confuse people :) )

I know a way to resolve this, let's just say the red/green/blue/and sometimes purple limits in colors was enacted sometime significantky after the Sith war and thus, doesn't effect Kotor:cheers:
