View Full Version : adding new weapons

i looked over all the tuts that were in the links to quake 3 sites. they were helpful but i didn't see how to add a completely new weapon to the game. could someone give me a link or something? it doesn't have to have the code, just the steps and what i need to do. i know i would have to make 3 new models. that is about all i know right now. any help is greatly appreiciated.

There is no tut for it yet, the code has only been released for a few days now. The only thing u can do is take a weapon already in the game and trace back every piece of code that deals with it, right now that's prolly the best chance u got for adding new weapons.

thanks. it will probally be a few weeks before i can really start. i'll look at the code and see if i can figure anything out.

i think you didnt look all that well, at code3arena, there is an Tutorial about adding an flamethrower.

But the code in Jk II has beend changed alot with the weapons (i cant seem to find any grenades/rocket in g_weapon.c like i could in quake3) But heres the link:

with the code as it is you wont be able to add a new weapon: there are already 16 defined
and quake3 limit is 16 (without using hacks that break other parts of code)
