I am going to test my skills at the Mace Windu saber from Episode II. Somthing I will need from the community (with all it's vast resources) is a bunch of reference pics of his saber in action, static, powered up, down whatever...anything with his saber in it I need. One other thing I might need is a skinner but I will ask when the time comes that I am ready to do so.

Thanks for all your help guys and if you need to send the pictures to me and can not post them here please send them to zcoldfusion@hotmail.com

Thank you so much! I have been waiting for a Mace Windu hilt for ages. I would have made it myself, but I have no skills in modeling, only skinning.

06-04-2002, 09:44 PM
i have no idea what it looks like, got any reference pics?

I have a couple good ones but as many as anybody can find would be great! The ones I have a from the EpisodeII Visual Dictionary and I have some high resolution blown up ones from it too.

Sry dude but this was all i could find for now but i hope it helps. It says Ep 1 saber handle, but hell it's the same damn thing (well, sorta, all except the blade color but thats not important) so here u are. :) :saberb: :mace:

:elephant:<------------this was just soooo gay that i had to add it in :D

i've seen pictures before, just have to look hard. Mace Windu has 2 sabers, 1 for episode 1, and 1 for episode 2. his episode 1 saber is just silver with some ripply things... boring. his episode 2 plasma saber is silver and gold, which i hope is the one your going to model. just look at some pictures of mace and perhaps you can look through the saber skinning forums on this sight. good luck with the saber, hope it looks as good as the other saber hilt mods i've seen.

I definately agree with Klorel. Mace had different sabers in Ep1 and 2. IMO you should make the hilt he has in Ep2, it looks much better, more defined, and as DaAdmiral would say - more "pimpin'"

Hope this helps I would love to see Windu's saber in all its glory.

06-05-2002, 02:34 AM
dont know if that picture will help as a main reference, but that was the saber i was talking about. now that you know what it looks like it shouldnt be a problem finding another picture online. good luck.

Maybe this will help you,

This is the Episode II Saber

Closeup from the ask jocosta thing:

thanks crazy_elmo, that image helps a ton. If anybody can find a picture that has his lightsaber shown from four different angles (one shot from each side of his saber - side, front, back, other side) that would help alot. I had one of obi-wan's ep1 saber but one of Mace's saber would be a big help.

Thanks guys :)

It's a good closeup I think:)

Hope that helps.

here is a preview of the Mace Windu Episode II saber I am making. I think the half circle above the three buttons needs alot of work but I'm having a hard time making it. Other than that I need to know what you guys think... :)

Cunstructive criticism please :slave::smirk2::)

make the top half (starting with the golden rings) smaller, its radius is too large.

looking very good

Thanks Madjai, that part of the hilt did look a bit strange...I just couldn't put my finger on it...

I fixed that up and fixed up the tail end of his saber and added his belt clip. Tell me what you guys think :)

06-06-2002, 09:07 PM
now it looks like the entire saber is a little stretched.
still looking good, if the polys arent that high you should add more detail.

06-07-2002, 05:06 AM
It's looking great, still trying to find some reference pics for you, but they are not very easy to come by.

When I find more stuff I will post it for you.

Keep up the good work ;)

Lord Darkblade

ok, V!G has helped me to reduce the poly count from 2433 to 397. The tags are messed up but I will try to fix them to I can see if the saber model is scaled right for the saber blade. I will post some pics once I have the tags right and maybe a few ingame pics of the unskinned version...then all I need is a talented skinner...and to know how to UVunwrap and all that info on turning the model into a mesh... :)

The saber is comming along well and just wanted to let all you guys know that :)

Thanks for your support guys :) :slave:

visit this saber tutorial thread http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=59315

and it looks crapy without shaders ingame, please apply one ;)

06-11-2002, 02:40 AM
the model looks VERY good. however, it looked like it was being held WAY too high. to fix this, adjust the tag_parent to where you want the top of the right hand to go. all tagging information is available on my tutorial thread. if it is unclear, please post a specific question and either I or someone else who knows will help you out.

Lord Darkblade
06-11-2002, 05:00 PM
ok, tell me *exactly* what to name the tags for the saber blade and for where the hand of the character is placed.

Thanks :)

06-11-2002, 05:14 PM
to make things simple, select your saber and center it at 0,0,0.
then do the same with the tag, tag_flash (the blade)
just delete tag_parent, it wont be needed when your sabers at 0,0,0. Then move your saber up or down so that the xy axis is where you want the players top of his hand to be.

if it doesnt look good just move the saber up or down some more and recompile.

06-11-2002, 05:14 PM
looking good already :D but idd its a bit too high :D damn it would be cool to make my 0wn lightsaber :D héhé That would make me a mature jedi :) So what proggy are you using ... milkshape ??

Lord Darkblade
06-11-2002, 09:54 PM
V!G, have you gotton your saber working yet? If you have do you think you could take a look at my tags and try to fix them. I am getting absolutly nowhere and I have a feeling it is in Milkshape. I imported Luke's saber from the assets0.pk3 file and exported it without touching a thing (I had to create the control file though, which I think might be where the problem is) and the saber dosn't work after exporting it. Any input would be greatly apreciated :)

GREAT NEWS!!!! I have gotton the saber to look and work as I would like it to IN GAME!! :D

I either need somone to UVmap and skin the model or some tutorials on how to UVmap myself and then I will need a skinner.

Would some skinners with some good work and experiance please e-mail me some pics of their work if they are interested in skinning the saber.

E-mail me (zcoldfusion@hotmail.com)

I have some goodies for you all...

06-25-2002, 12:42 PM
so its not skinned yet? whew, i thought that it was. i was gonna say good, but too green, and its all green lol. but thank god you havent skinned yet. really anticipating this model.

06-25-2002, 12:44 PM
Wow, looks good. I'm sure it'll look better when skinned though, 'cause now it looks like he's holding an ear of corn. :D

Lord Darkblade

I found that with Ultimate UnWrap3d that I can get the skin mesh but I can't export the mesh unless I buy the program (which is either $20 or $30)

If anybody owns this program could you please give me an e-mail and tell me if you would be interested in unwraping it for me. Otherwise I guess I will just buy it...

06-26-2002, 01:01 PM
*Emon didn't bother to read all that because he's tired*

Are you going to have B.M.F. inscribed in it like the real one?

06-26-2002, 02:31 PM
Heheh, that would be funny as hell! :D

06-27-2002, 11:58 AM
You should just buy it. Your saber model looks great, and i'm sure this isnt the last model your going to make, might as well make a small invesment in your hobby. 20-30, just think of it as another birthday present or something.

As for the B.M.F. if you do it like its supposed to be on the model, i say go for it, be as accurate as possible (if you can get some adequite ref. pics).

06-29-2002, 01:21 PM
Wasn't the BAMF a rumour. I swear it was

06-29-2002, 01:45 PM
The bmf thing is from a diffrent movie, its from pulp fiction i believe, it was on his wallet. People just say its on his saber making fun, heh, its a joke.

06-29-2002, 02:18 PM
i can mesh the saber in max, i also sent you an email wanting to skin it.

my email is ebrey@charter.net

Thanks Cyper, I sent you a reply but had not read your post here yet so I told you I would have to mesh it first. I would be glad to send you the model if you think you can mesh it. I'll send you another e-mail too. Sorry for the confusion  :p

Hey just wanted to give you all another update on the model. The model is complete, the skin and mesh will be underway soon, and I have completed the stance icons so you see mace windu's saber there instead of kyle's and I also redid the weapon selection icon for when you are changing weapon so that mace windu's saber hilt is there as well.

This will most likley be the last update until the skin is finished, at which point I will release the model. This is a screenshot of the new stance icons and of the weapon selection icon.
Thanks for your support guys...:
