Hi guys again. :D

I was thinking of the Dev Chats.. and last time you could sent questions to the devs and they would answer them... well.. i was wondering how manhy of you have questions to the Devs. i have a couple. but please post your questions here so we can select a few that has been troubeling all of us and send them for the next chat.

My questions are:

1. Some of us want to choose the proffesion of trader. this falls under Smuggler. but how are we able to do this proffesion without the proper speeders?

2. Will we be able to put text on buildings and vehicles? like you want to name the store or your ship. or the company name on the ship.

3. Do we know with how much credits we start? Do you need to get a job first before you open up a shop? or will you have just enough to start one?

4. Do we need shelter in the game? do you need to go indoors when it becomes night? or could you just go anywhere and sleep where ever you like?

5. will there be protection for your houses and speeders? or does everybody have to abbilaty to walk in to your home?

6. Does your name filter for Star Wars names expand to all the Comics and books aswell? or just for the movies?

well i dont have any more. please add your questions or say wich one you agree with.
and if you do have an answer to someones question.. please post it.

I have a feeling that they would just reply "Please read the FAQ at our website." But what the hell.

1) A lot of people have tried to persuade me not even to try purchasing Galaxies because I have a 56k modem, no cable/adsl. They say that the data rate will be just too high, will it really be playable on a 56k? (Baring in mind I may commit suicide it it isnt :P )

2) What happens in a few years from now, when we have had pretty much all the upgrades we are gonna get and you need fewer people on your technical and development teams? Will the subscription fee lower?

3) I still do not understand the skill system, although you do not have levels you still have to work to obtain the skills right? So say if I wanted to get good a blocking blaster bolts with a lightsaber would I have to keep practicing? I think things like that are a little tough to practice, I mean going to somebody and askin them to shoot you because you need to practice, isnt really in the interests of role-playing.

Thats my lot.

It will even be "playable" on a 28k8 I believe, so I guess your ok with a 56k

When u Start ur game u already have skill points, the way u play will decide what Skills will open up ( I am quite sure this is it, although I might be wrong )

Thanks Ascari, appreciate it mate. I think we all know the awnser to the second one anyway.... :evanpiel:

Oh I can awnser one of your questions Wraith.

The thing about access to your house? You have an access list, only the people you put on it can get into your house.

And seeing as I dont trust any of my friends not to ransack my house, that list will be pretty empty :)

Hmm... will SWG allow "the good ol' Alt-tab"? And well, in the same area, will it work with gaming communication programs like Roger Wilco? Someone asked that lately, and now I'm curious too! :)

I think they wont allow alt-tab cause of them pesky cheaters...

I dont think they will implement something with communication, or maby only when your a certain specie.

For instance, if you are a wookie..
U dont talk basic, only wookish ( ow man that sounds stupid, but u get my point )

Now if u have a voice communicator like Roger Wilco u will take away their disatvantage when talking to human players.

You speak wookish?... but surely you can talk to any player, not like you type wookish is it....

Otherwise you would only be able to talk to your own species right? Unless until you learnt a new language.

In FAQ the Devs said that ALT-TAB is allowed because hackers can break it easily

-What will the game play be like for professions that don't have combat? For example, let's say I'm a musician. What will I do while I'm playing? Do I actually have to like, type in the notes? or do you just select a song, like EQ bards? Does the music/dancing or whatever have some beneficial effect or is it strictly RP value, because then those professions would have hard times finding work (as oppossed to musicians in RL who get more work then they can manage, grumble, grumble *sarcasm)

-bartenders, so if you have a droid or whatever to sell drinks, what do you do? make them, collect supplies, it might get boring.

In FAQ the Devs said that ALT-TAB is allowed because hackers can break it easily

What do you mean by this, that hacking is possible with this game?

All skilltree's have a combat skill; so musicians will have one too. And music is important to regain lost willpower (a stat. much like mana in D2) by singing and dancing and stuff. So people who use alot of willpower for their skills (politician) would want to have a dancer of musician to entertain them(replenish their willpower). So there will definetly be a demand for those kind of people.

And as for your bartender question:
You can choose skills from different skilltrees; so you can be a bartender/ musician or a soldier/ miner/ politician etc. My first character will be a smuggler/ explorer for example. So you can do more with your character than just bartending. Just explore a sith-chapel in your spare time for example.
