hi, i'm new to modeling so can anyone point me in the direction of some tools and tutorials (man i sould like a nOOb:( )

http://www.discreet.com . Go to their product page and get the free version of GMax. It's a 20 MB download. It's very easy to use if you follow the tutorials that you can download along with it. This was my first model after having it for one day:

thanks, 20 mb is a little heafty on my nice 56k but its the middle of the night, hope no one trys to call:D

Hey KingNacho, one thing about your Yoda saber - the 'shield' peice that sticks up on the emmitter isn't connected all the way across, it's actually connected only in the middle. Hard to explain. Something like this:
