Hey, i have a question...
Last summer i made a map for Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force using Ef Radiant (...which i never released...) on my sister's computer. Now, I want to transfer that map to my computer so i can covert it into a jk2 map and release it. (my sister is taking her computer to college with her in 2 weeks..) I tried uploading the .map file of my map from my sister's computer to my computer using an email upload service. Then i downloaded the attachment of the .map file, but it only allowed me to save it as a webpage or text document. Of course, this file type cannot be opened by jk2 radiant. Is there any way that i can transfer the .map file from my sister's computer to mine??? please help!!

.MAP is apparently (I learned recently) a server extension of some sort, so you can't usually download files like that off of a server. Use WinZIP to put the MAP into a ZIP archive and then send that to yourself.

You can try changing the extension of your map to a .txt (i.e. map.txt) then upload it like you tried before. After you download it to your PC, change the extension back to (map.map). I have done this before with other files but I haven't tried it with .map extensions. I am not sure if it matters. Worth a try.

Converting to a .txt extension would be the simplest way. Since the file can be viewed through notepad, a .txt extension would be fine.

Have you tried using a floppy disk to Xfer the data? I know I have a map full of models, and such. The file size is only 349 KB (358,157 bytes). Enough to fit on a floppy without even having to change the extension. I would have to say Start with finding out the file size. Then you can go from there. Although this does not include; custom Textures, shaders, and models. Maybe try zip drive, or CD Burner if you got one..

I am surprised you where unable to email the file with the .map extension. I send out all kinds of files, with odd extensions with out any problems. Hell some have no extensions. I re read your post, and you said i downloaded the attachment of the .map file, but it only allowed me to save it as a webpage or text document. . Cant you just rename the extension from .txt to .map??? It should work fine.

Here's what I did:
Someone sent me a .map for something I was going to make for him(Hi dbz!) Anyway, I got the e-mail as a colloection of words(it looked like what it would look like if you opened the .map file with notepad..) So, I just copied the words, pasted them in a new notepad doc, and renamed the extension to .map.
I just got the main shape of the thing yesterday, so obviously it worked.

:dangit jk2.net, make smilies for the ranks!: Grrarroooaaar!!!
