well i was just thinking.

Hydro ball needs maps, we all know that. even the guy who invented it said he needed maps.

and since there are a few people making hydroball maps, me, grets sirob, and a few others.

i was thinking maybe, when we all get our projects finished.

if there finished round about the same time, and are of decent quality, maybe we could put them together as 1 pack?

or perhaps release them seperatly , and as a map pack, so the 56kers, can break the download up. whereas the broadband peeps, get them all at the same time.

just a thought. im not sure how far everyone else is on there maps, but i think im still a while away from finishing mine fully.

but its fod for thought i guess. :)

Preach, out

I tried to make a better (ie. "less square like") map, but it wont compile. But it looks nice in radiant ;).

woah god how did you make that sphere look so erm... spherical???

excellent work, must have took a while

its a shame it wont compile cos it looks ace.

personally though i think im gonna hve to go with the ye oldey square rectangular look. :(

but that looks great.

if you could get that working i think it would rock totally.

Ok Just ported the EXACT same map into GTKRadiant for Q3 and the damn thing compiled in two seconds!!

Heres pics (http://www.geocities.com/ggodstuff/index.html) (scroll to the bottom to see) to prove it.

Hmm, might have to grab JK ver. of GTK.....

I think that's a great idea Preach, we should do that...

But, who all is doing hba's? We should compile a list of the people doing hba maps. Along with the percentage that's done.

Mine's the coolest, nananananana!!!(sorry, I had to say that...)
(disreagard that statement...)

:trooper: Hey, you there!

Who is hydroball ?

Sorry if that is a newbie question. *bow*

I think grouping together our efforts isnt a bad idea. We could potentially start a project with allot of mappers and modelers to make some nice SP levels.

*snicker*

Er, Hydroball is a game, not a person.

And it would be in my opinion impossible to make sp levels in Hydroball, it's an mp mod.

Apoligy accepted(Captain Needa:D).

Sorry...

Grets, stop calling them 'hba', HBA is my server, damn you :D

Why?
HBA = HydroBall Arena

It makes perfect sense. And I will not stop calling them "hba".
This game mode doesn't come with a name(like "ffa" "ctf"), so we make our own, "hba"

You don't want me calling my arenas by the same name as your server, change the name of your server:p

ok well i agree with grets.

from this day forth all Hydroball maps shall be known as HBA_insertnameofmaphere

mine = hba_Arena of the Ancients (btw i found a name. w00t) i will probably shorten it to hba_AotA

well id say my map is round about erm.

40 -45% complete.

i still have the arena to make, and not counting the length of time it takes me to figure out how exactly to get all the hba entities working. i hope to get along wih it as best i can.

i also havnt added beta testing to that percentage.

if i did it would be about 20% completion lol.

ironing out bugs is the longest process out of everything.

plus im a perfectionist, so i h8 things that dont look quite right.

Preacher, you are exactly like me. I'm a perfectionist too.
It kind of ends there though. I made the arena first, then the lobby(actually working on that now...)
Mainly because the lobby goes around the arena, so I have to do it that way.

Anyway, I'm about, oh, about 30-40% complete.
I still have to figure out the entities, and get my stupid water to work(how'd you make yours?)
Plus finish the outside, and test it.

So, I'm not going to be done anytime this week, or next week.

Anyone else like the idea(hba makers, do you like it?)

Gyah! Fine, then your maps will be exclusive to HBA!

:D

Ah, I see.
And how exactly are you going to enforce this?
I mean nothing offensive, I'm just curious...

I have a Hydroball map in the works myself, still haven't come up with a name for it, and I'm having a TERRIBLE time getting the trigger_teamchoose entities working correctly.. but aside from that it's ready to roll.. I'm submitting it to all the various sites, and Skimpy (of the Hydroball league) said he's probably going to make it an official HBL map. (check out the HBL at: http://www.massassi.net/hbl). CURSE YOU TRIGGER_TEAMCHOOSE! CUUUUUURRRRSSSEEEEEE YOOOOOOUUU!

Nuhuh, you see, I came up with "Hydroball Arena" first, therefore my copyright > yours. :D

well. the only water i have atm. is the part of the lobby area.

and i have had various problems with that being fully correct.

the reason i made my lobby first was i know if i made my arena first, i probably would have said, ahh stuff the lobby ill just make it half decent.

well i know when i play maps, that i get impressed with the mappers ability to put in so much little detail, to places which dont seem improtant.

it shows the mapper has made an effort imo.

so in return for people who make great levels.

e.g. Duel_Kamino. duel of the fates, etc.

im trying to return the favour of putting in as much detail as i can. for the punters. (of course trying to keep in r_speed limits)

so i guess most people are ok with the map pack idea.

i think another advantage of putting the maps together is. doesnt it annoy you where you go on a server, and you playing fine on like waterball. then it changes maps. and oh dear you dont have that map.

well if you had the map pack. the servers could use that. and most people (providing they have the map pack) would have the same maps the server is running.

btw i would like to give thx to eveyone on this forum board.
its one of the most helpful, polite, collaborative, well written, unbiased, excellent forums i have ever been a member of.

gg to everyone :)
