1. What is a LAN connection?

2. Can I I set one up?
How do I set one up?

3. What are the benfits of using one compared to reg connections?

Thanks,

LAN connections are used when you set up a network, and is named as such because it is a Local Area Network. The internet is a WAN - wide area network.

TO set one up means that you have a need for a network in your home. That may include having 2 or 3 PCs to connect and play together on. Or also having a cable modem, and wanting to get your XBOX online as well, or other PCs to use that cable modem connection as well.
Other than these main reasons you have no real need for a network.
