I'm just wondering if high brush counts are bad for an FFA map.............

No, but high triangle counts are (which is heavily related to brush counts...)
And as for your poll, I have no idea what you're asking. You shouldn't have high brush counts OR sparklies. :p

Both, because you should have low brush counts and no sparklies whatsoever. :p

Brush count like Rich said, doesn't count. It's how many tris those brushes create that counts. If you read into the process the compiler goes through when making your map playable, you'll understand how to map effectively and what is more important. Overdraw/Sparklies/Z-Fighting are all solved by knowing whats going to happen when your map is being compiled.
