Exactly. Which is why a bevel or end cap would be useless for a pipe...

guess I don't understand what the debate is then.

To bend a "pipe" all you do is make a brush, select 'cylinder' from the curves menu, go into vertex edit mode, then bend it the way you want.

not exactly rocket science.

You can also use the bend tool, B key, but that may not always be what you want.

Use the thicken tool if you want to be able to go into the pipe.
