After 3 hours of work I've got my code working. check out this pic:

So far I have desann's, luke's, kyle's (obviously) and the reborn's hilts available. Theres no menu for selecting them yet just a cvar to change them. But eventually I will get to it. :)

I don't see why I should post this in the JediMod 1.1 thread since my code won't be added to that mod.

Sorry, but this new revelation is exclusive to my mod only. That is until Dest does his own saber hilt code, which I'm sure he will.

this mod sounds cool can you have two differnt hilts for jedimod. and if you can macke it so you can select hilts in the player menu

dood, sweet! i dont care if its only a cvar, i wanted this forever!!!! only other thing i would ask is to have TCK's color mod in it too, that would be great (pluss the 'how to add your own sabers to the list')

i cant wait to use this!!!!!

r u gonna release the code? cuz i would like to add other hilts and the like to it... or u should make it read from a folder the hilts that r in it so that u can choose ne of the hilts in that foder to be on ne model u want.

I plan to add a hilt selection bar like the player model bar in the player menu and hope to add code so that it searches all the folders in the model/weapons2/ beginning with saber_[hiltname].

When my mod goes beta and is released I'm sure you'll be impressed by what I have coded and what my team mates have added themselves. :)

The filenames will be the same (e.g. saber_w.glm) but the folder names need to be unique so i thought /weapons2/saber_name/ would be good enough.

Because the item/weapon code is sooooo different from the model code, it's just not possible to add extra hilts outside the code *yet* I'm afraid. :(

heh, I thought I heard that you're going to do it for JediMod...I don't see the point, why make all these mods when people are going to use one or two, a good idea would be to merge/combine the works, to create one, outstanding, awesome MOD, I've seen this same problem with many games, but hey, if you want to do it, not that I can stop you, just trying to give you advice from experience

than, I hope Dest gets around to doing something like this, sure would be handy.

well this would be a great addition to jedimod so please release code so dest can add it :) sounds great tho i cant wait! u know what else... u think u could possibly do the same idea with the saber model also... so we can have sabers... broad swords... katanas... and Amphistaffs (yuuzhan vong) all at the same time? now that would kick much also.

since you just can let people add them, how about just making the directories saber_# and give it like 10 or so places.... wait. then people could put any model into any of em... well they could anyway... grrr.... oh well. hope you can find something out to make us be able to add our own sabers/swords

hey nick we need to discuss a common format for the sabers. I think it should be done models/weapons2/hiltname/saber_w.glm
It's more like player models this way and hilt modelers dont have to do saber_hiltname.glm saber_hiltname.md3 etc. Icons for the saber can also be put in the hiltname directory so the custom icons can be loaded instead of having w_icon_saber_hiltname.tga or whatever

You could obviously replace the models with your own but just can't add new saber models to the selection.

I'm going to add this to JediMod. Would have had it done by now but I went on vacation. After that I am going to probably leave the mod alone so I can stop releasing everything before NickR :)

I've had that in my sig for months now. Does it really matter who did what first? Say what you want. I'll make any damn saber hilt I please and I don't care if one's already made. Got a problem with that? Oh well.

On a side note, Chrono, you have Gholam (95%) in your sig. You mean like the Hobbitish ring creature from LotR? Just incase you were wondering, that one is spelled Gollum. :)

Well, I've figured out how to alter my saber model code so its not hardcoded anymore. The problem was right infront of me! So you can add unlimited saber models now with ease. :)

I hope maybe 2 or 3 months. This isn't a small mod in the works, guys. Its a Team Fortress sized mod. No, it's not a Team Fortress mod! :)

Speaking of hilts, DEST not only released the mod, but Project Duality has a copy, and what JK2Files.com fails to realize is that you need JediMod v1 to use v1.1 they say you don't need it when DEST says right in the readme that you do... but you can obtain your copy here at

Hey everyone ( i say that too much), I just wanted to update ya on my progress... Since its been hours since the release Of JediMod v1.1 and studying the system DEST set up, you can now use 4 custom saber hilts that I updated for the Mod... so just head over to www.geocities.com/dmccarthy100 and check them out... to access them, just open the player area of the console menu, and select them... mroe to come, but I need sleep!!!!

I've finished all my hilt code now. There are 2 selection boxes for each hilt, so you can have 2 different hilt models. And I fixed that bloody saber throw bug too :)

Dest u say that any hilts that would work with ur mod would work with NickR's aswell right? well i just put together a compilatin of hilts JediMod 1.1 ready :) im sending it to jediknightii.net, jk2files.com, and massassi.net :) it as the name Saber Hilt Pack 1.0 and says ***COMPATIBLE WITH HILT SELECTION MODS*** all over it lol :). also Nick why not let Dest use ur code in JediMod 1.2? cuz urs should prolly be better then his cuz u can do bots and because (he even said so himself) he cant do menus. not to rip on u or nething Dest lol.
