I would like to know what the poly limit are for the player models and for the weapons/items in JK2. I myself think the poly limit for player models is around 3500 and for weapons its 1000? can someone confirm this? Thank you

Yeah, I think for sabers the limit is 1000, cause the one I'm working on now was 1070 and it wouldn't let me use it... lol

As for the player models, I'm not sure, but I think you're close...

As far as I know there is no poly limit (same with previous Q3 games). However, the Q3 engine has a limit of 1024 (IIRC) polys per mesh (or group). I can't remember the maximum number of groups possible, but its large enough that it shouldn't cause problems. If your saber was a single group, this is the likely problem. Really the only limits are pracitical limits i.e Raven recommends 3000 polys as the max, but there is no real issue with going over it slightly.

If you want something to be able to make use of shaders, make sure no entity (object/mesh) has more than 500 vertices.
If it has more vertices, shaders won't be able to draw on that mesh.

The thing is when i load up a weapon model above a 1000 polys it wont showup, everything under 1000 does show up ......

I think a 1000 poly limit really sucks, not for the models i want to make. Is there anyway around this?

Lower the polys and make the skin better...? I've seen some kick ass models that were low-poly, but had awesome skins... Actually, Chrono suggested I do this on one I'm working on now, and I would trust his advice... What kind of models are you wanting to make...?

how many groups is your model divided into? If only one, that's likely your problem, though I don't know if theres any limitations on weaponary.

They are devided into 7 groups, so that cant be the problem, im making realistic weapons, non starwars.
