I am a Star Wars fan but...
I was not so pleased with the acting performenses and the script. The special FX are cool, the love scenes terrible....

I hope George will come up with a better movie next time.
The last 30 minutes did feel like Star Wars and i believe that's about it.....

but who cares anyway... :D

I totally agree with you, but you have to admit that you enjoyed the action scences, and I think that the good parts of the movie were more then 30min.

I think SW style of showing a relationship like Han Solo and Leia, is definetly very different to AOTC.

The love scense weren't so good, because the actors didn't really act as if they really mean it, but just repeated poetic words in the script, but it wasn't that bad.

Wut ppl dont get it, is that in the OT trilogy.. Leia and Han and 3 Movies to build up their relationship. IN ATOC, anakin and Padme had only about a couple of days (according to the movie) to build up their relationship. That is why is not as complex as in the OT one

I thought the acting was more than good enough. :)

(Most people don't like the acting and the dialogues in the love scenes because they just fail to grasp the concept that Star Wars is set ina different time and galaxy and is not happening on planet Earth in 2002 so the way SW personae will act and what they will say and how they see love will be very different from ho people from Earth in 2002 will. Open your mind, it'll be easier then.)

What the hell? Here is the fact: people who star in AOTC are really bad actors/actresses. All apart from Christopher Lee, who does a great job with Scaramanga... whoops, wrong film... Count Dooku, the man with the Golden Gun... whoops again... Rapier lightsaber.

May the Walther PPK be with you... whoops for the last time... Force.

actually....that's an opinion...not a fact. This is a fact Ewan macgregor is an accomplished actor, as is natalie portman, as is hayden christensen, as is sam jackson. So apparently they ARENT really bad.

ARE YOU ALL STUPID?!?!?!?! STAR WARS ISN'T ABOUT GOOD ACTING! IT NEVER HAS BEEN! It is all about sci-fi it is the greatest sci-fi series ever. GL doesn't try to get nominees for best actor, he doesn't care about that, he knows he is going to make hundreds of millions on any movie he makes, no matter how crappy. And when you go to see a star wars movie you don't go to see it for the acting! You go to see it for the special effects, lightsabers, and natalie portman! DUH!

Yes I am stupid. :) Aren't you?

*A pink French Poodle appears from inside Darth_Spidey's pants.*
Pink French Poodle: 'There was a Poodle in your pants the entire time! I am that Poodle. You didn't see that coming did you? Why? Because you are stupid!' (Thick French accent.)

:p

(No it can't get more screwed up than this. Thanks to Joecartoon for the ripoff. :p )

the acting was great, the script was great, as stated before anakin and padme only had at the most a week to build up their relationship while han and leia had years, the love scenes were basically what AOTC was supposed to be about, that and the creation of the clone army, acting in star wars has always been great, every one of the main actors is in another major movie(i don't know for sure about hayden christinsian though) so you can't say they're terrible actors, if you're just gonna complain about the movie then complain to yourself and quit trying to get a rise out of all of us who actually like star wars and don't watch the movie except for the big arena battle cuz that's what AOTC was all about   :roleyess:

And what makes it great is story, and the story doesn't work if the actors are unable to convey it properly. Thus, it IS about decent acting. Maybe not oscar-level acting, but decent acting.

I will give you an example of bad acting or directing

When Anakin falls of the speeder during the city chase sequense,(befor he meets obi-wan at the club)
take a look how he stands up after that fall,

it looks pretty terrible the way Anakin stands up

I too much of a star wars fan to sneek out all the mistakes and I don't have any complaint about the acting. It doesn't take anything away from the story and the acting has never been why people love star wars.

Hmmmm, anakin falls off of the speeder, gets up, looks hurt, winces, then sees zam getting away, and thinks S***, can't let her get away! so he runs after her....i saw absolutely nothing wrong with it atall......

Also he couldnt have juped up right away like a super hero. I mean Jedis use the force but they do feel pain.
Would you have rather him got up and yell 5 minutes of oscar calibur dialog at zam wessel?

"Stop you feind, If it is the last thing I do I will avenge thee for wrecking my speeder. The suffering you have cause us will be..."

That'd be something.

*Zam Wessell running athletically while still being able to deliver dialogue in an Oscar winning fashion.*
Zam Wessell: 'Padawan you jest! Thy young masculen legs beeth tired from thy fall and their flesh bruised as were crushed soft grapes in summer.'
Anakin: 'Thy foul creature that besiegeth the purse of thy whealthy lords for sucheth a crime as being it death and murder! I will pursue thee and empale thee on my nobleth sword of pure light so bright!'
Zam Wessell: 'Sport with me no longer, in this establishement of decrepid creatures who stoopeth as low to ground as I thee will not see me with thy eyes. As if it were a moonless night as black as the depths of hell!'
Anakin: 'It is thou who jest! Soon as buttefly wings that flap in the glee of the sun thou whilst be my prisoner helpless and of mind to tell the tale of thee acts most foul and crude.'
*Zam disappears into the Outlander club.*

The acting was very bad in places, especially McGreggor's fake English accent, but who cares? It's STAR WARS!!! :D

I get more emotionel involved in the old characters.
I think they have more depth.
In the new trillogy their all pretty flatt (with a few exceptions).
And acting wise I mean Look at his fake grin on his face and how he grabs his belly.
It just don't look real to me.
And yes maybe I am to crittical.
But people who have made films (Like we did) know what I mean.
And don't get upset by crittisism I'ts just an opinion of some one.
never the thruth.
That's what makes any art form a wonderfull thing.

You have had 20 years to get used to the charecters from the old movie. Of coarse they are going to grow on you more than the the ones from the NT.

And LOL as well agent smith. That would be funny to see SW with that kind of dialog in it:)

i'm sorry, but since ewan mcgregor is scottish so there's not much difference, now go watch black hawk down and listen to his dialogue, he can do accents VERY well, 90% of the actors in black hawk down have english accents

Excuse me, but I'm ENGLISH, and I know a FAKE English accent when I hear one OK!

And believe me, there is a HELL OF A LOT of difference between the Scottish and English accents. I'm not saying he can't act, I'm saying he can't do the English accent well enough to convince me.

Probebly the digital camara and all the blue screen makes it difficult for an actor to respond to things that aren't there.
Well perhaps episode 3 will be a bit more like the oldies, i hope...

ET Warrior
08-22-2002, 11:31 PM
Yes, episode 3 will be just like the OT, because George is going to go dig through the trash heaps and pull out an old Camera, then he's going to use no computers, and he'll clone harrison ford, carrie fischer, and mark hamill so that they are younger than they were in ANH. That way we won't have these new stupid actors portraying such totally bad-ass characters that we don't care about because we haven't been around them for more than 20 years......:roleyess:

(I was being sarcastic...in case you can't tell)

The only update in the special editions of the OT that bothered me was the alien girl singer in jabas palace. I didnt really like that too much:)

Ya that was kinda lame. They shouldnt have messed with that. I guese Lucas didnt want to make Han look too much like a killer. heh:)
The alienn singer just rubs me the wrong way though.

I personally don't really care about the greedo shotting first thing.

ET Warrior
08-23-2002, 12:34 AM
I think it makes han look a lot less smart. I mean, before he knew greedo was going to try and shoot him, but he had his gun drawn and ready and pulled the trigger before Greedo knew what hit him! Now greedo was smart enough to shoot faster than han.......not the coolest!!!

I think the OT is more mature acting wise.
The new ones are a bit childisch with to much clichés.

Also Lucas is showing a lot new characters but no backgrounds.
I agree that we all didn't know sandpeople or jawa's when we first saw them, but they make sence in a dessert.
The characters where more serving the story.

George lucas said that the FX are a tool to help the story.
But I find that in the new episodes the FX are almost the story.

But well, thats just me

BTW I thought the new FX where great but i hunger for the dialogues, like between Yoda and Luke or Han and Leia.
They are realy talking to eachother.
and not staring to some empty space...:D

ET Warrior
08-23-2002, 07:48 PM
I ep 1 All the Jedi on the council were as real as Yoda in ESB. IN episode 2 all but one of them were......alot of the actors aren't talking to nothing, they're talking to people or puppets or whatnot. They're just acting in a total blue room.
