Well, CROSIS is out until 4 o'clock today, and I kinda need a little help form people on this project. Seeing how this is a MOD for everyone, I would like some input on the Jabba Model. I need to know the flaws and what absoultely needs to stay and GO.

After 30 mintures of simple extruding I am this far.

Tail looks a bit too thin, we want Jabba to be FAT since it's ROTJ :).

Guys, this is NOT a hoax, we are really making Jabba for the ROTJ TC Mod. Since the model just started, any reference pics you guys can give that show front / side profiles would be great. Also, any Jabba sounds (clean quality) would be apperciated.

Also, this is NOT an MP player model.... It's an NPC for SP, so don't ask about the skeleton.

the arms have begun, I thickend up the tail, and lenthed it a bit. He has no head yet, I am going to extrude that in a bit. right now I am just trying to get the basic form ready, then i'll add the FAT folds.

it may be a little early to say this but i think that his body is too squareish.

Twisted Vertex

I am adding a bit of gravity to the body right now.

it's ok...
doesn't look like jabba that much, though... the body is not fat then all of a sudden *squeez* his tail is really thin..... and he is ovalesque from the front, not circular.. and the arms in the movie are REALLY tiny compared to his body.
good for a start though, i realize jabba is a suprisingly difficult model (at least i would think so)

08-03-2002, 08:13 PM
You could use the jabba at:

as a reference.

Just dont try and pass it off as your own work:)

08-03-2002, 09:54 PM
It doesn't look like Jabba, not even for beginning stages.

08-03-2002, 10:15 PM
Looks great only one problem Jabba's arms are small and don't stick out like that.:monkey4:

08-03-2002, 10:16 PM

As for passing him out to the community, I think a MODIFIED version would be app.

08-03-2002, 10:18 PM
Everyone capable of doing better, please raise your hands!!

Oh. I thought so.

08-03-2002, 10:50 PM
Please do not respond to the above post, a WAR could break out, and we wouldnt want that would we... WOULD WE??

Serious though, this is turning into another yoda model thread... We will post updates when there is NEWS TO UPDATE. Keep your negative comments to yourself please, that is all that we ask.

i'm just trying to give opinion. that's part of what the threads are for.
can we drop this now?

08-03-2002, 10:54 PM
heh. touchy touchy. some people, I tell you. ^_^

why u guys gotta slam him? he doin alright. just needs more curves and stuff. overlaps. some drool coming out the mouth. a little bouncy mofo sittin beside him. He'll get it. Give it time. Can't sit in front of a puter 24-7 ya know

08-04-2002, 12:14 AM

Cow says... Mooo

Jabba says... Bo ho ho ho ho ho ho hooooooooooo

08-04-2002, 12:17 AM
Looks pretty accurate, although the tail seems a bit awkward

08-04-2002, 12:30 AM
We are tweaking it out a bit.

Twisted Vertex
08-04-2002, 12:35 AM
how so, The tail is postioned so it ends at when the stomach begins, so its pretty seamless. well actually there is no seams in the model, becasue the whole thing was extruded from a 1 by 1 sided cube.

08-04-2002, 12:39 AM

Keep it up. ;P

Well you know there's this thing, call an opinion, everyone has their own. We respect yours, so we expect you to do the same for us.

Emon its ok to have an opinion but you are the most negative bastard I've ever seen. Everywhere you post whether it be in the modeling forum, the coding forum, and the skinning forum your the most negative bastard in the whole community. Havn't you learned by now!!!!! Seriously this is just the beging and it looks decent so far. Look at reality buddy when you can do better than you can be a negative dick head!!!!!!

Jabba model definately looking good for an early stage!!!!!:D

Hi im the one making the other Jabba model. and i just want to say that. yours is comming around realy great. but let me get this strait:

you are just making this model for the TC for like in game cinematics and such?

im personaly making my own Hutt a little thinner than the real one so it wont look too awkward when he fights around the levels of JO. it might not look exactly like the real Jabba but it will work better that way for MP i think.

any way cant wait to try your TC

08-04-2002, 04:59 AM
Yes Zippo. Jabba will be there as an NPC for cutscenes, interaction, etc. but will not be a player model... There's really no way in hell to weight a mesh like that to the MP skeleton w/out disgusting levels of deformation, lol. Trust me.... I tried w/ the mesh from theforce.net.

I am anxious to see what you come up w/ for an MP model.

The head is gonna be tough, that's for sure. We really need to make sure he has a jaw so he can speak in the cutscenes (like Jan, Kyle, Luke).

Note to anyone making MP models, please give them a jaw, otherwise they can't move their mouths in SP cutscenes.

08-04-2002, 07:10 AM
Not sure if anyone mentioned, but his head needs to taper into his body at a much slower and shallower rate, he really doesnt have much of a neck. Otherwise nice work

08-04-2002, 08:11 AM
hey emon, its enjoi, member me from last night in jabba's palace?

08-04-2002, 10:04 AM

Might have a final one to send to Arco today.... MAYBE.

08-04-2002, 11:05 AM
Final one today? :D

I found some of his ROTJ sounds, so hopefully we can see him with 3PO, R2, etc. soon :)

08-04-2002, 12:45 PM
very Nice Jabba, Keep on the good work!:D

08-04-2002, 08:34 PM
You guys said any sounds were welcome? Well how about this:

Enjoy. :D :D
