Anything that is suitable for your poccessor speed.

Here is what i think:

300-800 mhz = 128

800-1.2ghz = 256

1.2-1.8 = 512

1.8 - 2.2 = 1g

2.2 + = 2g

there is no suitable amount of ram for any speed of computer, the more ram you have the better, simple as that.

512, it's the most ammount of ram any game can use currently and it's cheap. You can add more ram later anyways.

I'm not sure what the yearbook answer is, but I do know that when I upgraded from 64MB to 512, everything started working better. So I said 512.

eactlly what deetox said, as much as you can feasibly afford, the better anything will run. but 512 is proabably the highest you really need to go for now.

So, what? Take my crap computer:

P3 600 mhz.

I don't think that I will notice the difference between 256 MB and 1g. I think my money will be better spent on a better graphics card.... :) However, it also depends of the RAM speed (SDRAM, DDR RAM, RDRAM) I think a 256 RD RAM will preform much better than 256 of SD RAM

I agree with teutonicknight's guide, there's no point having 1 gig if you have less than 500 mhz, it's a waste as it will only use about 15% of it.
The important thing for a speedy computer is balance.
Also get DDR if you can as it is twice the speed, but remember that you cannot mix.
