R2D2:Blessing or curse?

Ok when R2D2 has saved everyones life in the movie. This is directed at when he saves that nabbo starfighter thingy that everyone is on. If he wouldn't of: Qui Gon woul of died(effect: no darth vader), obi wan (on of the greatest jedi, but hey), queen amidala(sp?), some others too


well see there would be no darth vader so the empire may not have conqured the jedi, but it depends on how big of a role he plays in ep3

So it comes so the question: Is R2D2 a blessing or a curse, the empire my not have risen if it were not for this droid.

Palpatine didn't expect for Amidala to escape... all any of them did that helped Palpatine in TPM was that Amidala was the one who called for the vote of no-confidence in chancellor Valorum. If she hadn't done it, Palpatine would've found someone else to. Had Amidala died on Naboo, he would've been able to say that the Chancellor didn't act fast enough in the interest of his homeworld, and then just think of the sympathy vote he'd have gotten.

No, Palpatine would've become chancellor regardless of the actions of any of the people aboard that ship, and then he'd have still had his hand in creating the Sepratist Movement and instigating a war between that movement and the Republic. He'd have become Emperor, and there would have been no Chosen One to defeat him. R2's a hero.

ep2 Anakin, chill... he's talking about the Infinities comic... it is EU, but it's conscious it's EU... it's basically a "what-if" comic... what if Luke's torpedos had malfunctioned and not destroyed the Death Star, in this case. And Yoda does rule all in that comic. But if it wasn't Anakin, it would've been Dooku who led the charge against the Jedi... the Jedi would be overwhelmed by the Clone Army. The Sith know what they're doing.

even if they hadnt gotten off of naboo there would still be maul and palpatine with a giant army of clones (saying that palpatine would have been elected). so realy it dosent matter

Let's not factor in the EU. The movie is canon. The movie is what spawned EU. The movie is the source of the franchise in its entirety. Let's agree to acknowledge that.

I completely agree that the EU shouldn't infringe on movie debates... but the Infinities comic has no bearing anywhere, not even on the rest of the EU... so it really doesn't matter... ;)

the point is yoda could have stopped the empire you idiot, thats what would have happened if there was no luke destroying the deathstar. BUT yoda when there was luke didnt do anything becasue he wanted the jedi order to continue, dooku is rather innept compared to vader, maul wasnt really much of a jedi, just good with sabers, Vader was the only reason the emperor succeeded, and the jedi had clones too, or atleast im positive they had something, and if the clones attacked the jedi at the beginning the people would be very suspicious and over throw palpatine anyway, and the jedi could take out an innept fool like dooku.

Also EU is the future of starwars, after ep 3 that is the end, lucas has spoken, movies and EU are all the same, all star wars, all good.

Ep2 Anakin your an idiot, vader is cooler than anakin, in fact vader is the 2nd coolest character in star wars and anakin is the worst. Anakin is some fag that for some reason gets the only hot girl. Vader is a kick ass villain with tons of cool lines AND he elliminated all of the jedi except yoda and those after his death, he even killed one of the most powerful sith lords ever to exist. Yeah but he wouldn't have met C-3PO either and would not have been as funny in the later films without him. Considering he carried the Death Star Plans that ultimately lead to it's destruction, I think that makes up for indirectly helping the Empire, don't you?

If R2 never exsisted I think...

1.) Padme, Obi wan, and Qui-Gon would be dead.

2.) Sidious wouldn't have to reveil himself. The only reason he sent Maul out was to kill Padme, with her dead he gets to remain unnoticed by the Jedi. That means he can wait untill the moments just right to strike and Maul gets to finish his training.

3.) Jar Jar binks would died on the ship too. :D

4.) Anakin lives the rest of his life building afeminate robots.

5.) He would've used the queens death a chance to sieze power (As someone aleady said).

6.) The Trade Federation would back out of Naboo, under Sidious' orders, and flame up the seperatists movement.

7.) The Seperatist would eventually clash with the Jedi (Like in eps 2) and wipe them out (Remember this is just what I think wouldve happend).

8.) As a response to the Seperatist's actions, and the elimination of the 'knights of the republic', Chancellor Palpatine would pull an army of clones out of his rear (Much like what he did in eps2. I mean he just passed the resoultion and 2 hours later they're fighting on genosious. What did he tell the senate, he ordered then rush delivery?) and crush the seperatists. Afterwards with an army of elite soldiers, damn-near obsolute power, and no-one to challenge him he'd rule the universe. Oh course that'll last for awhile then comes the rebelion, which then gets crushed by the undistroyed DeathStar. :deathstar
