View Full Version : Led Zepplin: Stairway to Heaven

This has popped up many times in the past year (well past few months really) for one reason or another. The lead singer Jimmy Page is a known Satanist who bought Crowley's house in Loch Ness (it's important to note we don't actually know how deep his intrest in Crowley goes). However we do know that many other rock stars have idolised him.

It played in public a few times in diffrent places - the first time ever in my life.

And then someone said to me it was their favorite song and....

...the Next thing I know:

Tribute to the Greatest Song in the World is invented and the background music is... Stairway to Heaven.

What the hell is going on?!?!

Je ne comprende pas.

Who is Crowley?

What exactly is the problem?

Stairway to Heaven has, as far as I know, always been regarded as a classic.

I'll restate the situation:

LED ZEPPLIN:

Lead Singer - Jimmy Page

Most Popular Song - Stairway to Heaven

Backmasked messages during the song:

Forward: 'If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alone now, it's just a spring clean for the May queen. Yes there are two paths you can go back, but in the long run there's still time to change the road you're on.'

Official:'If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now, it's just a spring clean for the May queen. Yes there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run there's still time to change the road you're on.'

Reverse: 'Here's to my sweet Satan. The one whose little path would make me sad, whose power is Fake. He'll give you, give you 666, there was a little toolshed where he made us suffer, sad Satan.'

"The Toolshead" could refer to Crowley's house which Jimmy bought as it was a well known Satnic church known amoungst them (Satan Worshipers) as the toolshead.

Forward: 'When she gets there she knows...
Reverse: 'One chance. I hate you.'

Forward: 'Your stairway lies on the whispering wind.'
Reverse: 'Because I live with Satan.'

Forward: 'And it makes me wonder.'
Reverse: 'there’s no escaping it'

Forward: 'The piper's calling you'
Reverse: 'the Lord turns me off'

Forward: 'And she’s buying a stairway to heaven.' (last lyrics in the song)...
Reverse: 'Play backwards, hear words sung.'

Also note Crowley said in his books that his followers should learn to read and speak backward.

Aleister Crowley: The most influential Sataniest ever. Founder of the one Satanic commandment: 'Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law'.

It's possible that backmaseked messages are accidental. But then we have to be realistic - this song was recorded live in real time and was never cut together (in other words Jimmy sung the song from start to finish ONCE and nothing was taken out, removed or repeated). That makes six backmased messages, (some concider the first to be two, but it's clearly one long and more complicated phrase), all with a similar theme (except maybe the last one that lets you know there are reversals throughout).

RESTATE MY THOERY:

ENTER THE SONG: Tenacious D - Tribute to the Greatest Song in the World

In which anyone who has heard it will know that "the Devil/a deamon asked them to sing the greatest song in the world and 'they did'". (They do call it the Devil's song).

My theory is that one way or another the bearly-noticable background music of Stariway to Heaven is there to impose that IT is the greatest song in the world... according to the Devil. Clearly stated in the song is "this is not the gratest song, no, this is just a tribute".

You should also listen to where exactly the music for Stairway to Heaven is.The song is compleatly out of tune with it.

"And we played the first thing that came to our heads, it just so happened to be the best song in the world, it was the best song in the world....." - then start Stairway to Heaven music.

The song is sung by two compleatly tone-deaf men and yet it's something like Number 4!

Anyway, I can't be the first person to make these connections.

Religious folk have always been trying to pin rock music down for having subversive and destructive messages for the youth in the lyrics. I've heard this same speech about "Surfin' USA" by the Beach Boys (known Satanists? Please.), where some preacher would swear up and down that Brian Wilson utters "The devil is my strawberry" when the record is played in reverse.

In my humble opinion, all of these claims are pure garbage.

God damnit, mek...if youre gonna talk about Led Zepplin, talk about them correctly. Robert Plant was the lead singer for Led Zepplin. And Jimmy Page was, in fact, the guitarist.

Not only this...but all that Satan Worshipper stuff is bullcrap. And if it isnt, I dont care. Its kick ass music.

I tried to post this a while ago.. my mistake, haven't talked about Led Zepplin of course you're right Jimmy Page didn't sing it.... he WROTE it in one day.

Remember, there are no supperimposed tracks on the song, it was sung from start to finish, recorded as such and directly copied from the one souce. No superimposing!!!

Oh and I wrote the lyrics down (actually I just modified one I found on the web, some words were in it that aren't sung, and they left out a few - mainly "oh" even though they put half of them in). Contains profanity.

A long time ago
Me and my brother Kyle, here...
We was hitchhiking down
A long and lonesome road

All of a sudden
There shined a shiny demon
In the middle of the road

And he said:
"Play the best song in the world
Or I'll eat your soul"

Well, me and Kyle
We looked at each other
And we each said:
"Okay."

And we played the first thing that came to our heads
Just so happened to be
The BEST song in the world
It was the best song in the world... Ohhh Yeah...
And it saved our butts.

Start Stairway to Heaven Music

Because the demon want to kill us... oh...
But he was forced to set us free
By the honor code that demons
Have to live by.

Cause it's Satan's Surprise and it's magic!
And it's a mystical disguise... oh..
The devil's song and it's tragic!
You are the mystical eyed virgin and you're rocking!

End Stairway to Heaven Music

Well needless to say
The beast was stunned
A whip crack with his swampy tail
And the beast was done.

He asked us:
"Be you angels?"
And we said:
"NAY! We are but men! Rock HOUNDS!"
Hounds! Rock Hounds!

This is not
The greatest song in the world, no.
This is just a tribute!
Couldn't remember
The greatest song in the world no.. NO!
This is a tribute!

To the greatest song in the world... alll right
It was the greatest song in the world... alll right
You know it was the best mother****n
It was the greatest song in the world

indecipherable gibberish

And the peculiar thing is this my friends:
The song we played on that fateful night,
Didn't actually sound anything like this song
This is just a tribute.
You've gotta believe me.
And I wish you were there.
It's just a matter of opinion

Braaah! ****!
Good God! God lovin!
I'm so surprised
To find
I can't stop em!
indecipherable gibberish
Rich mother****er could **** a duck!
Oooh! Ooh!
All right!

Hope it clears things up!

=mek=

*Personal note: I had previously made and saved these modifications (fixed [font color] with [color], somehow they became undone!

Maybe they play Stairway To Heaven coz Tenacious D (or however you spell it) think it is the greatest song in the world *blinks*

Is this gonna be one of those topics ala Dangerous Minds when they're discussing the Piano Man by Billy Joel it and how it's rumoured that the Piano Man is about drug dealing?

This topic so looks like something out of Josie and the *****cats. Go hire it, I recommend it not only for the pretty much usless acting, but also for the totally shocking advertising that goes on throughout that movies...think Waynes World with Pizza Hut and Pepsi scene. Josie and the *****cats was all about subliminal messages  orange is the new pink, I don't like pink anymore, orange is a much better colour blah blah blah

Why is p-u-s-s-y censored? It's not like its a dirty word unless you use it in that dirty context :p

Can someone please explain why it's censored?

Suck my pussy.

I am more concerned with why Matsu****a is censored, and why people's names like Phillip K Dick are censored.

Mek, the version you have is an old version. The version they actually released has the "Stairway To Heaven" bit cut out of it totally...probably for copyright reasons, but even still, the version you have is not used at all any more.

Besides which, and sorry for the double post, why are you posting this here anyway? It really does make any sense why you would come to a Monkey Island forum and complain about a Tenacious D song. Frankly (and I'm aware that this is ironic, due to the number of replies to the thread), no-one cares if it has "Satanistic" connections or not. Some of us don't even believe in Satan. Most of us don't even believe in (a) God. I know that you only mean well, but please, you really don't need to preach to us.

Plus, Mek, I downaloded the song and played the bits backwards, but th only bit I could get that you stated was "Play backwards, hear words sung", but even that sounded like "Pleh backwu, he wods suh". Sorry, I think you've been misled somewhere.

Doesn't anyone realize that it's a total play on Devil Went Down to Georgia?

Then again, what need have I to listen to someone who thinks we never went to the moon.

DNIKNAMUH LLA YORSTEDMetallus, if you ignore backmasking completly you still have to admit that people get robbed, shot, mutilated and raped at SOME rock concerts, to deny a connection is ludicris.

The idea of backmasking out dates recorded music or sound.Originally posted by mercatfat

Mek, ppl get robbed, shot, mutilated and raped everywhere. No matter if it's at a rock concert or in the church: **** happens (differce is the music at a rock concert is better :D). Blaming rock for violence is like blaming video-games for the school-shootouts: completely ignorant. Rock doesn't make you violent, unless you're violent by nature.

I guess some people can become tired of being questioned in such manner.

After all, say you had climbed Mount Everest, might you not also eventually develope a short phuse if people were constantly pestering you about it doubting your word about your accomplicement and asking you to swear on it being true?

You find many hidden messages on Tenacious D's tracks, except for the 'Donkey Crap' on the end of Karate
