Going along with what AdventureDevelopers had done, I thought we should open up a contest idea page here. We know from Spaff that he is looking to start up some contests.

One I suggested on the Adventure Developers site, was to dress up like your favorite (or just a) character from a LucasArts game and get your picture taken while embarresing yourself is a must.

Another one I just thought of was to come up with something that the staff could use as a possible future april fools joke. (Of course I offer this idea since I have one)

I like that dressing up idea. I don't think that the april fools one is that good, no offence, but won't it defeat the object? I mean, who's fooled if we send in the joke? The dressing up idea sounds like fun though. Lets do that one!

well like I said, we would only send them to the staff, they wouldn't be shown to everyone.

Hellbeard, I think he was referring to Scummbuddy starting the topic

You're supposed to add the mouth!

09-12-2002, 03:56 PM
What the shifty eyes or what I did?

Just trying to help out spaff. Jeeez. :D

This gives me an idea!
The contest could be for ASCII art! You know, drawings from text! Like, er......

A circle!
But the art is LEC related in the competition.

ok, so it doesn't look like a circle. But it did when I drew it.

I thought it was supposed to be a smily face with eyebrows...

See! This would be a great competition. We all draw a huge ASCII picture and upload it as a text file. It could be a scene from a game or anything. A character. Anything!

09-13-2002, 04:19 AM
Exactly! Like this project where they made Star Wars 4 into an animated ASCII thingie.

ASCIImation (http://www.asciimation.co.nz/) - check it out!

09-13-2002, 04:22 AM
Really?? Where can I download it??!

09-13-2002, 01:57 PM
I still have that huge ascii art done of CMI guybrush, but I don't know who did it.

Would be nice if guys like
Simon Jeffery, Bill Tiller, Tim Schafer, Dominic Armato, and what other Mixnmojo celebrities
would join a Mixnmojo contest, but perhaps without being able to win. or have special kind of prizes. a poster printed of him or hers favorite fanart picture.

sounds good to me. even with modifications.

Can we use color, in the ascii art, like something from zzt or are we stuck to the black and white line art?

09-13-2002, 09:05 PM
Man, You guys have really hit the bottom of the Barrel! Common! ACII art!?

Awwwww common thats CHEATING!

09-14-2002, 11:18 AM
That Star Wars thingy is amazing. It must have taken a LOT of time and effort. Still, I don't feel like watching it.

09-14-2002, 04:36 PM
Oh wow! That star wars thing is so brilliant! I don't think we'd go to those lengths to win the competition though.

09-14-2002, 05:25 PM
Aw... Forget it, It didn't work!

09-16-2002, 06:58 PM
I knew the ASCII-fication programs would be mentioned sooner or later. I consider them cheating, too. They are plain lame.

Let's just come up with a certain limit of lines and each of us does one character at a time. Best characters can maybe be animated after the contest and be put on Mix with the 'engine' that ASCIImation uses.

09-17-2002, 02:08 PM
That sounds like a good idea.
