View Full Version : How do i spawn a partner in the beginning of the level?

In my mod eventually i want it so you start with a fellow jedi partner on ns_streets. I think i can figger out the behavoral scripts, but i was wondering if anyone knows how to make it so when the level starts, he's there. i also want to use a custom skin. can anyone help me?

put the npc in, like just a npc_jedi for now. then select your player spawn, then select the npc partner, and press ctrl+k boom their bound, when the player spawn is initialized the npc will spawn and follow you

what tool or program are we using? sorry im a noob at this stuff, could u dumb it down a little?

radiant, you need those to make your maps.
if your mod changes the regular game like that, there isnt too much you can do, without editing the maps, which doesnt work
possibly, you can spawn a partner with the npc spawn command in a .cfg script or something, maybe
as far as a custom skin, you need to change the model/skin for kyle... been done before, can find how to do that alot around here

so theres no way to edit a finished map? you cant somehow convert it to .map file or something that is used by radiant? if not, is it possible to add a custom map to the single player game?
you'll need to decompile the bsp but it does not preserver textures or entities, don't know what the link is for the tool though

yes, just make a new map, then name it the exact same name, then put the new map into your mod's maps folder
