View Full Version : What LEC adventure do you think would make the Best Movie?

What LEC Adventure game do you think would make the Best Movie? I think Full Throttle would make the Best Movie because It really had a movie feel to it and it would probaly translate rather easily into a film.

btw, If possible, Post your cast selections for the game you chose!

Pipe Dreams, hands down. Jim Carrey could play the wacky guy on the box who is holding it all together. Anyone you'd like can play the pipes. Nah, they'll probably be CG.

09-16-2002, 04:25 AM
Grim Fandango would be awe!
But it won't be any movies from LEC, except from Star Wars. :(
Also... Full Throttle would be awe too, but where to get the cast witch is similiar to Ben and the others?

Grim Fandango only needs to be animated on computer like Toy Story or something like that... :p

09-16-2002, 05:48 AM
Monkey Island 1 & 2 of course!

09-16-2002, 05:59 AM
The Dig.

09-16-2002, 06:24 AM
Oooh yeah, I forgot The Dig!
Steven Spielberg made that one with LucasArts!!! :D

09-16-2002, 06:29 AM
Grims got my vote some Classic Film Noir

09-16-2002, 06:56 AM
Grim Fandango gets most of it's ideas from Noir films. Pretty much a spoof on a lot of noir films. I don't think it'd fit in as a movie. Altough it's a great game.

09-16-2002, 07:17 AM
yeah ok i see your point, well how about a really trippy out DOTT for a film if u ask me those lot were on something! i mean seeing a 4ft purple Tentacle whatever it was i want some! lol

09-16-2002, 10:19 AM
Sam n Max!! Thats the only one I can see converting into a really watchable film.

GF would be an animation classic!....if only:(

I think Full Throttle (or maybe the Dig) would translate to a movie better than other LucasArts games. A somewhat simplified version of Grim Fandango would also be an absolutely rockin movie for Pixar once their Disney contract is up.
Sam & Max could also be a hilarious movie, although it would be based on the comics more than the game. As I've stated before I think surreal minimalistic makeup (like in the Cats play) for the actors playing Sam & Max would suit it best, as I think CGI characters would just be too corny (think the Rocky and Bullwinkle movie) and a full CGI movie would be excessive. An animated feature isn't out of the question, but I'm just dying to see Purcell's screwed up world in live action.

I think out of all these, Sam & Max has the best chance of getting a movie. Why? Well, there have been a helluva lot more comic book movies than computer game movies. And Steve Purcell worked at ILM last I knew, so who knows, he might end up having coffee with George Lucas* one of these days.

* On the other hand, the thought of another wacky comic book movie might cause George to start having Howard the Duck flashbacks and go into an epileptic fit.

I believe the Dig was originally intended to be a movie, but because it was so suxboring they decided to stop it from being a movie. And then someone said "ILL MAKE IT A GAME" and it began.

I don't think that Sam and Max would make a very good movie at all, the plot is nonsensical, and although I love the dialogue and the humour, that's the major let down. It's just a typical adventure game plot :/

The movie to make would be either
a) An animated musical based on Monkey Island (Take a bit out of each, make a nicer storyline)
b) Grim Fandango. Shot in Black and White, with plenty of cigar smoke.
c) Full Throttle. If a biking fad should arise, it would make a movie. I guess.

If they did make movies though, I would prefer that they stray away from the story of the games. They don't have to stay true to the game for me. WATCHING an adventure game is boring stuff, especially if you aren't in on the action.

Indiana Jone... Oh, eh.. Hee!

Seriously, I think Sam and Max would make one damn funny movie.

The DIG and Zak Mc Kracken won't do bad either.

Sorry, this thread was supposed to be a poll, but I made the thread when the forums were all screwy!

Btw, DOTT could be an entertaining Bomb of a movie!

09-16-2002, 05:22 PM
Gotta be The Dig. Spelburge was going to make it a movie but didn't have the $$$$

09-16-2002, 05:25 PM
DotT would be movie of the year. Zak McKracken would kick serious ass as well.

09-16-2002, 05:52 PM
the following

MM or DOTT, Monkey island,Full throtle, The dig, GF,or the SNES game Zombies ate my neighbors, Sam and max would be based on the comics not the game :(

09-16-2002, 06:51 PM
Have you read the comics? They're pretty similar to the game. Like, identical. The comics storys are less frustrating though since theyre not games.

09-17-2002, 02:33 PM
There was of course a Sam & Max tv show, so it has been proven to work in a multitude of formats. Why not a feature length movie?

09-17-2002, 04:11 PM
I loved the T.V. show!

09-17-2002, 04:23 PM
Yes, Sam & Max would definately work as a movie. I imagine the first act would take place in the thuggy crimey underbelly of New York, then the second act could be more of a road movie. Of course the plot would have to be a bit less off-on-a-tangent than the comics. Maybe if the Freelance Police were hired to track down someone on the lamb.

Say, whatever happened to the new comic Purcell was working on, where Max gets shot in the ear?

09-19-2002, 01:43 AM
Yeah i hear that show made a lot of money. So much, in fact, that it was deemed unnecessary to continue the series after a few episodes. The network decided that it had made "enough" money and cancelled it

09-19-2002, 06:06 PM
Are you serious!? I loved the show, it was great!

Forget DOTT, forget the Maniac Mansion tv show (which in my opinion butchered the Maniac Mansion feel) and go for Maniac Mansion. Just like in the game, except have a Clue-like A B & C style movie with different versions using different characters - would only have to build one set and go from there. Make it a horror-comedy like it was origanally supposed to be, not a cheesy sci-fi b*stardization like the show was (sorry, fans) I offer up the following actors/actresses in my "casting call":

Dave - Freddy Prinz, Jr. (Say It Isn't So, Boys & Girls)
Sandy - Alyson Hannigan (American Pie Trilogy, Buffy TV series)
Sid - Seth Green (The Austin Powers trilogy)
Razor - Mia Kirshner (Not Another Teen Movie, Crow: City Of Angels)
Wendy - Kathleen Robertson (Scary Movie 2, *gasp* the Maniac Mansion TV series as "Tina Edison")
Michael - Kel Mitchell (Mystery Men, Good Burger)
Jeff - Matthew Lillard (Hackers, Scooby Doo, 13 Ghosts)
Bernard - DJ Qualls (Road Trip, The New Guy)
Dr Fred - Trace Beaulieu (Mystery Science Theater 3000 as Dr. Forrester/Crow)
Nurse Edna - Molly Shannon (Superstar, SNL)
Wierd Ed - Rob Schnider (Animal, Deuce Bigalow)
Dead Cousin Ted - Kelly Osbourne (gagged and completly hidden from view...what a great idea!)
Green Tentacle - ILM (duh) voiced by David Spade (Joe Dirt, Just Shoot Me)
Purple Tentacle - ILM (again, duh!) voiced by Tim Curry
Meteor Police[/b] - Verne Troyer (Austin Powers Trilogy, Bubble Boy)
Chuck the Plant - Kelly Osborne (again, hidden and gagged, except now stuffed into a clay jar and covered with dirt to await being broken down and used as plant food)

As much as I would love to see that, it would be panned faster that fried eggs! They have to make a movie that not just the game fans would watch!

09-20-2002, 05:29 PM
Monkey Island 2 would make a great musical

09-21-2002, 09:25 AM

ive said it before..

imo Chris o Donnel with long curly hair (like in 3 Muskateers) is a great Guybrush...

09-23-2002, 09:43 PM
There's noone out there who could do the voice/acting any better than Dom. He's the best, always will be the best!!!

10-03-2002, 07:38 PM
 C'mon... what about FULL THROTTLE? Don't you remember?

Anything is there...Adventure, Villain, Love line, Stunts...

I give my vote for Full throttle....

Well... the truth is that it depends on genre... FT - going to be a good action(sorta like MAD MAX) as well as MI(kinda like HOOK or smthn)

As for Dig
Good idea but i cant imagine some other then Robert Patrick as commander Low

Grim and Dott and S&M and Mi...well i guess those cartoons were allready made by LEC...None other could create such atmosphere as the team which made those titles... Cartoons based on it would be just sacrilege...IMHO

10-03-2002, 07:57 PM
Monkey island the musical?
I dont htink that would work out.
But Casandra Bullock would make a nice Elaine i think with a bit more bushy hair.... Woopie for Carla, Mike Myers for Otis,

10-04-2002, 01:49 AM
Oh yeah, Jim Carey would be perfect. We can all agree on that!

10-04-2002, 08:01 AM
i agree

10-04-2002, 08:32 AM
whoopie for Carla?? are you insane?

10-04-2002, 08:36 AM
maybe whoopie for the mojo ladie

10-04-2002, 08:44 AM
Maybe Whoopie for the corpse on Monkey Island...

10-04-2002, 07:43 PM
They have to make some cameo's for shiskabob, shiskajoe, and shiskalarry!
