Oh man, an upbeat jazz soundtrack is something I could dig for a new Sam and Max game.

I really wasn't too into most of the "jazzy" midi's in the original game. I don't think that sort of music works too good digitized. But as for the 4 tracks on the CD (except maybe Conroy's tune, but it's all in good fun) they were mad. Reminds me of the Frog Brigade.

I'm hoping for something close to Grim Fandango's music, but less swanky and more slick. Soundtrack CDs are nice. I should work at Lucas Arts.

I'm hoping this game is chocked full of excruciatingly detailed backdrops, littered with liters of zany objects, causing Sam & Max to expel humor-filled quips when directed to look upon them. I also hope to be able to use Max as a projectile weapon against nere-do-wells, as well as the occasional minatory wall. And I just realized we never got to endanger ourselves and others with a frenzied hail of lead from unlicensed fire-arms in Hit the Road, not counting the end credits. So I'm hoping for that too.

Yeah, ok. Back to the topicy goodness (I reeeeeally hope that doesn't have some double meaning, but I swear I've heard it used before. And it definetly wasn't in a clean joke...), I really like the idea of using Max as a projectile, but I was kinda hoping we'd be able to actually PLAY as Max. Just once I want to be able to romp through an imaginary universe without pants. (Guybrush's dress in MI2 doesn't count :Guybrush: ). I mean, lets have some realism here, people! Who hasn't wanted to go naked throughout a city populated by virtual reality people while shooting things :snipe1: ???
Oh yeah, that's another thing. We need guns. lots of 'em. With highly explosive whatchamagigs to go with 'em.
There. Now you have my wishlist. START WORKIN', LUCASARTS!!!

I don't even care. They're making it, and that's all I need. I'll just sit around and think about other stuff, and when it comes out I'll pick it up.

theholyidiot
12-09-2002, 12:30 AM
Amen. Still, playing as max and using abnormally large guns would be a plus. (do not, repeat, DO NOT take this as an excuse to make an action game. Adventure all the way!!!)

FeldmanSkitzoid

I think you should periodically be able to play as either Sam OR Max. One may be able to get places and use things the other can't. Like, Sam throws Max through a window, Max searches around for a key to unlock the door, and lets Sam in. That sort of thing. I think in the game Jazz & Faust it was set up that way. I never tried it because I heard it wasn't that good.

I also think it'd be great to see Sam & Max go through time and space. In fact, that's what I think the title should be: Sam & Max Through Time & Space. They can go back to ancient Egypt, Rome, the Renaissance, WWI & WWII, The 60's, and then into the future, in space.

Dude, I can so picture max with a poncho and headband. The whole peace and love thing doesn't really apply to our two favorite psychotics though, does it?

If it's anything like Conker's Bad Fur Day, which I predict it will be, then I'll be happy. Hopefully it'll have a nice (18) sticker on the front of it, and not be cutened up for the TV audience.

I want to see puppies drowning and the homeless being stripped naked and chased.

theholyidiot

nonononono. We must still have adventure. The ability to get into maybe 4 gunfights over the course of the game wouldn't be too bad, but we gotta keep it true to the original fan base. Of course, using a RPG to blow up something in a constructive, puzzle-solving way would be pretty damn cool.

Just as long as we still get missions and updates the usual way.... grabbing a local alley cat, and reaching till we find paper or other means or sending messages.

LucasArts won't develop a game without depth perspective ("3D") for PC.

Developing the game for handheld videogame consoles is a very good idea, but I believe the press release referred to "Windows PC (http://www.lucasarts.com/press/releases/61.html)".

The best proposal I've heard is to have the player control one character while the other is controlled by AI. This would differ the game from games of similar concept (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/r/?page=http://www.computerandvideogames.com/reviews/reviews_story.php(que)id=77860), not to say identical.

Just as long as it's a good game with plenty of laughs, wierd stuff, perfect gameplay and a storyline as twisted as seventy dragon knots it'll do me fine. Oh, and don't forget the manky furry animals!

iisaac
02-27-2003, 06:53 PM
Sanspoof, in Sam & Max's defense, they are not "furry", though you didn't imply they are. On the other hand you mentiond dragons and furry in severe proximity. Sam & Max are more related to early American television cartoons than to furry cartoons. The main differentiating factor is likeness to caricatures over the likeness to animals. It's a fine distinction, but luckily I can tell, because I nearly puke when I see furries.
The content of this post is not to imply that I like Sam & Max, but that I hate furries. Had Sam & Max been furries I wouldn't go near a messageboard about them.
I spent countless hours in childhood and adolescence being interested in Sam & Max and similar subjects, and I think debating the business aspects of these subjects would neatly end my long dying occupation.

Metallus
02-27-2003, 07:31 PM
Isaac, I don't think he was referring to that kind of "furry" (ew), more like an animal in possession of fur. I don't think it would be in your best interests to explain or debate the distinction between furries and regular cartoons to an eleven year-old.

What do I expect from S&M2? Simple - mind-altering drugs, and lots of them.

Sick!

However, it's okay with 3d I guess. As long as they put some work tot and don't use the same engine as EMI.

You should sign up to Something Awful then if you really want to talk about furries Isaac.

Sanspoof
03-01-2003, 10:30 AM
Um... I was kinda referring to animals that have fur on their bodies, not pubes, dude.

Do Sam and Max have pubes? I don't have the attention span to think about it.

I am new to this site but I just wanted to express my overjoyous joy that I have found a group of loony toons almost as cracked as I am.

That said...

I cannot believe they are actually accomplishing this. I have not been so happy since the bulbous lump on my ass decided to move to a different vacinity and did not leave a forwording address.

I know that they are not going to have it done in 2D, so I hope that it is as good if not better as the newest adventure/strategy/rip out your hair because you did not think about adding the coathanger to the expresso machine type gameplay Escape From Monkey Island. It was very well done in its 3D format and ILOVED it.

Oh, and by the way...of course they have pubes...duh. Only those with sick and twisted minds would think they didn't.

I am now going to crawl into a hole and recite the movie Attack of the Killer Tomatoes in its entirety...
