Mirrors. How do you make them?

Same as mirrored floors. Use the specific mirror shader on a brush and put a misc_portal_surface no more than 64 grid units away from it.
It would be helpful if you gave me a more specific description of what you want to do.

Well, I basically want to make a normal mirror. Kinda like the one on the last level of JK2.

I think there were one or 2 mirror shaders in the game, but i'm not sure they work. I think there was one in the Yavin set, named yavin_mirror and there is one in the system set as well i think. Just apply them with a misc_portal surface next to it.
If those don't work, your gonna have to make one yourself. It isn't that difficult. I'll post the shader code if you need it.

I got everything ready here. PM me your email adress and i'll send you a file with a small texture, a shader file and a small demo map to show how to implement the effect.
It might be a good idea to just add the shader code and texture to your own shader file and texture directory, just make sure you update the path name in the shader code.
Also, i'm not sure if this is the way Raven created that mirror effect in the Yavin level, because i remember Desann apearing in the mirror behind you, but he was not really behind you. This is not how the mirror shader works, so i'm thinking they used a different effect with some smart scripting. Another bug is that you only see your arms and hands in the mirror if you use the lightsaber in First person mode. You might want to use scripting to prevent people from using that. Or just set up the Sp character's skin file differently.
Anyway it's up to you how you want to use the effect, but i'm just informing you about it's limitations.

The Desann NPC was actually there. There's a scripting TAG called "vampire" which actually makes an NPC invisible to the "real" gaming world, but still renders it in mirrors.
All seems rather ironic when you think Vampires aren't supposed to have reflections.

well, that explains something :). I'm gonna try that level again to see if they used any other tricks there. I can't remember if they did anything to prevent me to switch to First person saber mode. Looking at just arms in a mirror can be weird looking. Maybe Raven did something to prevent that effect.
