View Full Version : MOD idea: Oni MOD with hand-to-hand combat

It would be so very cool to have an Oni mod wherein you can fight melee combat and maybe ad a couple of special features that I've always wanted to do in Oni itself:
bullet dodging and walking on walls in slow motion while the camera turns away and than resets when coming out of slowmotion (cool idea for a movie two)

Anyway, the music needs to be changed to a more Oni realistic way two.....

If someone could do all this (which I doubt, no offense but this is very hard) than I would be willing to make all the maps.
I would even try to make my own textures (which I've never done before and probably can't)

So....anyone interested in making this?????????(please)??????

:cool: I've got some ideas for hand-to-hand aspect for the Blade mod but I need better coders on my team. The camera-pan-wall-walk is a pretty goos idea though.

I though Oni kicked ass, one of the most overlooked games of last year.

:cool: Nah.. I'd love an Oni 2 but I doubt it. The only concolation is that the sam team was moved to work on Halo 1 & 2 which is one of the reasons the animations rock.

An for all I know there are only some cheat-mods for Oni, regen hitpoints, unlimited bullets that kind of thing. Hope them make it into an anime or somthin' eventually.

:o Well if there's never gonna be an Oni 2 there is even more reason to make this mod (and this time I hope with the bullet dodging ability because I would die if I could get that into the original Oni)

It really is a shame that no mods have been made for this game....

Oh I don't know if this can be of any use but I've got this action in my head and I can't get it out:

here it goes:

You're entering something in a control panel and than someone steps in and starts firing at you with a high fire-rate weapon.
And than you make a jump-flip backwards (in slowmotion) and the camera is locked on the enemy and you see the bullets or energy waves slide under your back.


Very cool (though i have know idea why I just said this, probably because it's something every gamer wants in a game since the matrix:rolleyes: )

:cool: It should be possible to do that in a cutscene. With the thereisnospoon command as the shots race past the Character backfilps... then the Player gets to take over as he's landing behind the shooter.

Or, on the other hand, the Hero bursts in and tries to take out the Villian, who cartweels away and end up behind YOU.

But whatabout doing this regulary like a real move you can do and not just a cutscene action......

Would stil be a very cool idea....

But I don't expact this mod to be made so I'll just ad another question...

Is there a game that combines Oni with Max Payne/The Matrix??

:cool: It depends... sometimes bullet time for 'regular' moves got a bit old in Max Payne Kung-Fu-based mods, it would take some play testing to find a happy medium in JKII.

As for an Oni/Max Payne/Matrix mix try the Matrix or Blade mods for Max Payne. The only trick is that it's pretty much one-hit kill for the kung fu moves with NO blocking so there's no real strategy involved.

It's a fun taste of what 'could be done'. I'm trying to hammer what I can into Blade: KoD just to have something a bit more diverse for SP.

I'm going to check around to see how easily the time slowdown, at least the thereisnospoon effect, could be attached to a move like the 'Death from Above' hit or the shot/saber dodge...

Those woudn't happen often enough for the effect to be annoying.

but just one thing, you said that if there was no blocking it wouldn't be real strategy, but is it possible to ad this into your mod???

I have one question for someone else who might be reading this:

Can someone give me some ONI textures??? I have the map but not the textures...

:cool: Oni textures? Uhm... one of the down sides of Oni was that there were no textures.. just solid pastel-colors for the most part.

I've got a bunch of wallpapers and stuff.. don't know if that'll help.

nah.....I don' think someone would want to play in a map with Oni painted on every wall:D
