Could anyone give me a hand with getting an NPC to go on a looping patrol route, maybe show me a simple (maybe 2 nav points of something) script which will do the trick?

Look at the scripts provided by Raven. Look at 3_point_patrol_loop in kejim_post. It's the script that makes the Gonk walk around. You can also look at the kejim_post.map to see how the navgoals are setup. ;)
