Ok here it is. I want you guys to start a Dragonlancer dvd fund and buy me a dvd player! J/k. Anyway on with business, I'm just wondering weather I would be able to watch the ep2 dvd on my computer. I don't know a whole lot about that stuff and I'm not sure if you need a special program to watch dvds on a computer.
It's not a particularly new computer. It's maybe 3 years old, 4 at the absolute most, though I doubt it.
Microsoft Windows 98
Pentium 2 proccessor
No 3D card. (at least not good enough to play 3d accelerated games, I use a different computer for that)
60 mb of ram
32 bit vertual memory
Not sure how much of that was neccesary but I thought I'd post it. Also, how do you make you own avitar off of dvds? Thanks to those who took the time to read and post to this.

If your drive is also a DVD drive you should be able to play it. You'll need to download a DVD player for your computer though and with that low of specs, the dvd may stutter.

Yeah, thanks for that I'll log that away..... no just kidding. Seriously though, thanks, but I'm not sure if I have a dvd drive or not. AUGHH!!!!!! I know quite a bit about computers but first of all, I'm only 13, and secondly, everything I know is based on things I've had to know, or wanted to know. And I've never had to deal with figuring out specs etc, so I don't know a whole lot about that.
My other computer is breaking down though, so maybe it's time for a new computer. Not sure wheather that's good or bad so I'll just have to see. Thanks for responding.

if you want DVDs to play flawlessly on your PC i recommend 512mb of RAM
and you will need a DVD / CD drive in your computer.
nowadays DVD players are getting pretty cheap, so it may be cheaper to buy a DVD player for your telly instead of upgrading your PC.

I would say no, it would not play at a good enough speed to watch.
I have a P3 600 Mhz with 256 MB RAM, and I have a DVD ROM and it plays DVDs really poorly. Lots of frames get dropped and at some parts the diolog is kinda choppy.
I would recomend you just get a dvd player, or a better computer.

teutonicknight, if you can get the chance, borrow a mate's RAM and test out DVD playback with 512mb, i believe it will solve your choppyness issues.
i may be wrong, but in my experience RAM has fixed that problem.

Just get a dvd player. Its so worth it. And its true they are getting less expensive. A new comp will be much more costly.

get your parents to buy you a dvd player :p did you guys get a dvd upgrade to your computer because I dont think many computers had dvd drives 3-4 years ago

I have a P4 and I 'm running at 1.6 Gigs.
DVD players are getting cheaper and you should be able to afford one. DVD Drives players are good but being able to see the movie on a good sized screen and the sound is better unless you have good speakers.
As to your question about making Avatars from DVD's. I just go to fullscreen and when I get a scene I like I just pause it and then I make the buttons to dissapear and then I hit Print Screen. Then I go to my picture program and resize and crop and voila.
As for the moving Avatar's you should ask someone else cause I don't make those.

Yeah probably:p It's not mony that's really the issue, it's just an annoyance having so many videos and now having to switch to dvd:rolleyes: I'll just have to get my parents to buy me one for Christmas.
BTW, on a separate subject, I have a theory on the deleted scenes deal. Unless they decide to surprise us, we aren't going to be seeing the "dooku uses to lightsabers" scene or the "attack on the droid control ship" scene on the dvd. BUT! I wonder if they're going to surprise us and put them on the special edition vhs? It'd be an easy way to con people out of more money. Just a thought.
Anyway thanks for your help guys.

if you wanna know your system specs just:
go to run: DXDIAG that should take you (assuming your using direct x) to your configuration.

As far as I've seen they aren't on the DVD. :(
(But I haven't found any Easter eggs yet.)
