View Full Version : Omg!!!

From starwarsknights.com

<Let me give you an example: I was playing the game today, and I came into a room where two Dark Jedi were waiting. Upon seeing them, I did a Force choke on both of them, causing them to stumble around holding their necks. Then, I threw my lightsaber across the room at the one closest to me, injuring him severely. Meanwhile, a female Jedi in my party ran ahead and started attacking one of the choking enemies, and a third party member was shooting the same guy with two blasters! As one of the Dark Jedi recovered and ran towards me, I did a combat feat where my character flipped through the air and came down with a chopping swing that took him out. This all happens in realtime, with no pausing and no turn-taking - just like in the movies.>

Just curious, do you think the above screenshot was taken during this small fight? The description seems to fit :)

IS AOM really good? I might want to try it.

Anyway, I'm glad that it isn't going to be point and click (I think).

Hhhmmm, not sure.....I don't think they are really even close to listing the system req's yet. Com_Raven or Eets would probably know for sure.....

I know for sure that I don't have it.....that's why I'll be looking for it on Xbox. Maybe by that time, I'll have a good enough cpu......

I think I remember reading about these things in a book once, if this is on Coruscant. Am I right?

If you look, the Ithorian isn't holding the saber. The PC is.

Well,I'd wonder, how can the battle described be ran real-time without any pre-instructions given(well, combat situations can differ from time to time,so surely the commands will differ, how can you use some command from a previous battle into the next?)

Com Raven
11-25-2002, 11:18 AM
you get commands from a pull-down menue I think...

They should have quick slots, or hot keys to bind to whatever u want to help speed things along.
Sounds interesting that u can que their actions, I wonder if that means force powers and feats or just the usual, go attack that then attack that..
[Edit] Doh! didn't read the rest of that faq. So, that means u could cue up some devastating combos:D

Com Raven

there will be hotkeys on the pc, and a few on the xbox as well...

They'll probably use the white/black buttons on the xbox controller....it's my guess anyways.

Com Raven
11-27-2002, 05:50 AM
I expect that they'll have 2-4 hotkeys...

covenant_bad
11-28-2002, 07:38 AM
yeah that sounds reasonable... just to store your most vital commands like ''go go lightsaber'', ''yes..i said attack him you stupid hair ball!!''.

:D

Com Raven

the hotkeys on xbox are customizable...

sounds alright, I was thinking about 6 including quick weapons, plus tons for default stuff all over the keyboard :D

If what I saw was correct, would the battle system be like this?

Start:
Player:Press S for Lightsaber
... 3 seconds pass...
Enemy Jedi:Attacks
... 3 seconds pass...
Player: presses a configurable button to block(or if auto-block,automatically blocks)and tries to push away enemy's saber
Player, again: presses a configurable button to attack
... 3 seconds pass...

And then this turn of events flow like real-time.Or is it not?If it is then I'd rather call it turn base.Battles sure will take lots of time and won't be climactic.

The when activating a menu to use your various powers or items, the game doesn't stop, but it slows down in real time, allowing you time to pick which option you want.

I couldn't see if each option to pick had a certian button that used said option, or if you just use the arrows to move up and down, picking the one you want.

Frosty_V2.1

U can pause the game and then issue the commands however u like, it has the turned base element as in each character has it's own 'initiative round' going individually, but that is all behind the scenes so there won't be obvious pauses, unless ur character has...something like 1 attack per round.
Saber blocking will probably be auto-e.g. u have 50% rating to block or whatever and that get's calculated every time someone blasts u. Or could be worked into armour class system, tho that is just speculation on my part.

So what is the pc interface looking like? hmmm, I'll browse up the Bioware msg-b

Com Raven
12-01-2002, 04:31 PM
no, the battle system isn't turn-based...
