According to a report on Star Wars fan site TheForce.net Lucasfilm are attempting to bring The Clone Wars to the small screen. Apparently the filmmakers produced a pilot episode for a possible TV show about the intergalactic war featured in the most recent movie, and presented it to The Cartoon Network in the USA. No word yet on the TV station‘s response nor what format the pilot episode took, but with The Cartoon Network involved its safe to assume we‘re talking animation, and with George Lucas & his crew involved it seems highly likely the show was a CGI creation.

A lot of that seems like you're making your own speculations... here's the story as it appears on TheForce.net :

Lucasfilm, the company behind ''Star Wars,'' is in discussions with the Cartoon Network about joining forces for an undisclosed project, a spokesperson for the cable channel tells EW.com. Internet reports have suggested that the project in question is a ''Star Wars'' cartoon series, possibly titled ''The Clone Wars,'' but Laurie Goldberg, a Cartoon Network senior vice president for publicity, declined to offer details on the negotiations.
''Cartoon Network is constantly seeking partnership opportunities with great creative companies,'' Goldberg said. ''So naturally Lucasfilm would be high on that list. But to speculate now on a series launch or the nature of our discussions would be very premature.''

So draw your own conclusions. I hope they don't do it... TV shows lead to more TV shows, and pretty soon Star Wars is as silly as Stark Trek.

true...

i agree with jedi_anakin_s.

i hope they don't because sooner or later star wars will be corny.

star wars is still a kid so what some movies a few TV shows i say it lasts 40 or 50 and star trek may or may not last longer it is older so it may die off around the same time how ever if they make one after TNG it may stay for a long time

I have a very bad feeling about this... :(

I remember that droids cartoon from yonks ago...with C3PO and R2-D2...and I remember changing channels...

I seriously don't think Star Wars translates well to a 2D cartoon format...and there would even be issues with 3D CGI.

If they are going to make a Star Wars series, they should...

1. Make it live-action with CGI'd spaceships, etc. Like Farscape (R.I.P.) and Babylon 5 (R.I.P.) but with more comprehensible plots.

2. Make it time limited. Focus on quality, and run it for maybe a couple of years...and then cease. Otherwise, as stated above, they'll completely run out of plot ideas, and it will become really corny.

3. Use people who can act.

Personally, I think a better format for a translation of Star Wars to TV would be a short series of 2-hour episodes...sort of like Band Of Brothers. That way, you get about 10-12 hours of quality TV with decent effects...rather than a weekly effort where the script-writers are straining for inspiration. Do that for 2 or 3 seasons, and you have something of epic scale across about 30 hours, which hopefully won't be too repetitive.

I mean, let's be honest...if there was a Clone Wars series...and there was a battle every week...it would become monotonous. It's better when the focus is on character development, and you get something unexpected with each episode.

Obviously...the problem would be realising the special FX. We've now been totally spoiled by what we've seen in the films, and you'd expect something approaching the same quality on your TV screen. That takes a lot of time to realise.

well... it would be cool if they made a TV show... but it'll probly be a low budget thing.

well thats the thing star trek and star wars both stories can end no matter how you see it so what no more TNG based movies they still have enterprise, voyager, DS9 left (voyager not likely)

It sounds kinda neat.......but I'm not so sure that they could pull it off and still meet the high expectations of all of the fans.

If they get the right ppl involved, it could be good............

I just don't see how though.

well its already like star trek its just on a dif. level star wars lots of ranged and melee weapons star trek tons of ranged and melee weapons plus better robots/droids/andi. and many more races (ya i had a hard time with that to but after looking at it star trek as more races i still havent come up with a total number yet)

Yeah...but most of the alien races in Star Trek these days are just people with plastic foreheads and nose-jobs. There are regrettably few total aliens these days. There were probably more alien concepts in the original series. At least in Star Wars...many of the races bear no resemblance to humans. I've always preferred the Star Wars races to those portrayed in Trek anyway...

...and therein lies part of the problem - because many of the aliens are now totally CGI created...which increases budgets.

It's already been confirmed. They wont be half hour episodes, they'll just be shorts that appear between two, hour long shows by what I understand.

I agree with the people above that said that making a Star Wars show would suck. They would have to put so much time into it. If they are going to do it make sure they do it right. Like Band of Brothers. They were good episodes but there weren't alot of them. To much and very little time equals crappy programming. Star Wars is on a completly diffrent level than Star Trek. Star Trek is good at some times but other times it just seems rediculous. The Aliens are better in Star Wars and so are the droids. All the difrent species in Star Trek are very diffrent at all. There all human looking aliens with a few plastic pieces on there faces now. Star Wars you have aliens that are not being played by humans and that adds to much more diversity.

Getting back on track though I think that Star Wars and TV do not mix.

I agree it would suck. Star Wars wouldnt be Star Wars if they made a show :( It doesnt belong on the TV screen every week with new Episodes, it would become like star trek wich IMO is good sometimes but suck more times than its good :( And I think they have better aliens in star wars and droids.

I'd like to see a Star Wars anthology series, like the Twilight Zone or Outer Limits. A new main character and a new plot every week. One week, your protagonist is a Bounty Hunter, the next they're a Jedi, and the week following they're a smuggler. Maybe have some story archs that span two or three episodes, maybe make some of the better EU stories into episodes...

I'm an avid fan fiction writer, and I've read my share of fan fics that I haven't written, too. There's more than enough room in the SW universe to have an unlimited possibilities for episodes, so long as you don't restrain yourself to one place and one time... and as long as you keep KJA far... FAR away from it.

Call the series "Star Wars Infinities" and put the Infinities logo on it. If you make a TV seires, just make absolutely certain that everyone knows that it is not Star Wars canon! Well... unless the episode was written by George Lucas, that is :D

I think SW would be perfect for a TV series because it's such a visual story. Personally, I'd rather have a SW TV series than SW novels.

i think a star wars tv show would ruin star wars! the movies reflect years of thinking on George Lucas' part the show would make some stupid points and ruin Georges great work!
