View Full Version : A Question About an Aquarium

It sounds odd, but that's essentially what I'm attempting to make. One of the areas I'm constructing revolves around a three-level high combat arena, the lower level of which is flooded. The arena itself is enclosed completely by glass. In game, trying to look through the glass below the water-line results in a graphical error very similar to HOM, though it appears to be only a color distortion and an inablity to see through the glass at that point.

Has anyone trried thie effect successfully, and if so, what needs to be done to fix the error?

OK. I just built one and could not duplicate the problem.

I'm using GTK Radiant 1.2.11 in SP mode.

I had a box type room with a tank of four walls.
The walls were common/glass on the inside, outside and top.
No-Draw on adjoining surfaces and bottom.

Inside the tank was my water brush. bespin/water2 on all sides.

This may not be the 'prefered' way to make one, but it worked.

You can see into the water through the glass from the outside, and out of the tank through the glass from the inside. (although the in the tank view of outside is difficult to see)

I think I have seen that before. It's an artifact of the construction of the glass surfaces, not the interaction between the glass and water. I found that if I built the window out of caulk, and put glass on the viewable surfaces alone, then when you look through the glass you get a rainbow-HOM effect. The problem is, I think in if your glass is a detail brush or not...make sure it is!

One thing that also might fix it, is cover the whole window brush with glass instead of just two sides.
