Due to lack of involvment in this forum, see as i dont really come by here so often anymore, i think it is only fair if i resign from being a mod, and make place for someone who may deserve the title more than I nowdays. (something that i think another old moderator who left us long ago should have done, not mentioning any names).

This does not mean, however, that this is me saying goodbye.
i just think it's time to let the new Escapemi.com generation step in. :)

I think I know which mod you're talking about :)
But yeah I hope something gets done with the actual EscapeMI site some time because no news for a year is baaad. Think we need to broaden what the site covers maybe, get some new news posters and a re-design

NiKo

yeah, if i remember right, last news update was sometime around last christmas...

Then again, there's not much EMI news these days anymore.

Maybe if the site would have been about the MI games in general, and not just EMI, it would have lasted longer.

Just my personal opinion, but if you guys want a new mod, Kj°len is a good choice. ;)

Feral

Met knows what I think on this subject, and I think he agrees with me. I'm sure he will pass this on to ZeroXcape.

Mod me?
I.. don't know.
Hm..
"I little too much work, with a little too less materials"

Hmm, sound like a famous quote. But I made it up. :p
Meh... I think...

Feral

You can tell you invented it :D
And besides, it's not that much work.

Kj°len

Please take AcrylicGuitar... Look he registrerd this very summer and have already posted 777 posts! This guy would be great as a moderator...
...But that's just what I think

Feral
12-23-2002, 06:51 AM
Just because he spams doesn't mean he should be a mod.
And besides, the admins know who would make a good mod, so this entire topic is pointless. But, whatever.

I think Kj°len should become a moderator, he seems sensible enough.

Kj°len
12-24-2002, 11:29 AM
*Pulls at eyelids*
Nooo, I don't wanna be a mod...
*Lets eyelids flop back and slap my eyes like on Lilo & Stitch*

C'mon, I really do like helping people, but a moderator job just isn't my thing. Sorry. :-/

What are you doing here?

it shouldnt just be upto mods who is moderator, it should be open to discussion from everyone! is this forum a dictatorship now?
i know i dont post here often, and probably dont hold an opinion that will be listened to, but i think thatit shouldn't JUST be upto moderators, it should be more a community decision!

Feral
12-24-2002, 12:19 PM
It's not up to the moderators, it's up to the administrators. They already know who'd be a good mod. The fact that Isak nominated AcrylicGuitar as mod shows that people often mis-interpret what makes a good moderator. And it's not like the admins dn't know what goes on or anything. That's why I think, nay, know that this topic is pointless.
But, if you want to pointlessly nominate people, be my guest.

Aimee_lou_uk
12-24-2002, 12:32 PM
mods/admins, wotever! admins dont post here, and arent part of the community, and didnt all you get the mod status fromfellow people of the community? it seems abit hypporcitical! and there was no need to be cocky!

but i do understand it is unto them, and they probably will pick someone best suited, probably the same person we ALL would have found suitable, but because one person votes one person doesnt mean that we're all going to think like that, just no need to be cocky about it! that was rude

and i didnt nomionate pointless people, i just think that people who arent moderators, who are valued members of the community should be allowed to have a say in what goes on, as even thpugh they arent moderators, the forum wouldnt be as good without them!

Feral
12-24-2002, 12:45 PM
I think you misinterpret what I was saying. Why do you say I was being cocky? I was stating the facts.
Also, you've misquoted me; you said that I said that you, personally, was voting for pointless people. What I actaully said was that you, plural, the French vous, were pointlessly voting for people.
The admins do visit the forums, they just don't post all that often. I know that Met, Zero, and obi-wan13 regularly visit the board. Murta is a super-moderator. I know that the admins wouldn't just give someone to mod status willy-nilly; they'd discuss it with the other administrators; ask Murta what he thinks; and even ask myself, brief and Niko; all before making a decision. They aren't stupid.
You say the admins aren't part of the community, but that's absurd. The fact of the matter is that this forum wouldn't even exist without the admins.
Oh, and no, we didn't all get mod status from the "community". All o the moderators, besides myself, had mod status thrust upon them by ZeroXcape without consent from the community, and he had every right to do so. Met made me a mod, not only after carefully discussing it with ZeroXcape, but after receiving a request from Grannen himself that I replace him. Many people didn't even notice that I'd been made a mod until HelenW posted a topic of congratulations a week after, so the "community" didn't know about that either.

I didn't point and say : "you, mod, now!"

As for what Feral just said above me, I agree with completely.

i do agree aswell, i fink i did misinterpret feral, i just didnt agree wid

"And besides, the admins know who would make a good mod, so this entire topic is pointless. But, whatever. (Feral)"

wel i did, but i get what he means now, and sorry but i never see the admins posting alot, but even tho i read the posts alot, i dont post either, so i guess im the same  but i didnt fink the topic was pointless...

and by valued members, i mean members that post alot and contribute alot to the community, like i could join, post once evey 6 months, i wudnt b as popular and valued as feral and natty etc etc

sorry 4 getting my wires crossed!

I, like so many times before, agree with both sides.
Like a democracy, the people vote for a president, etc, and if the electoral votes, vote otherwise, then the peoples votes are uncounted, if the government thinks that it would be a much unwise idea. Though unfair I think it works that way, if it's nessicery, it must be done. Administrator's pick those they know would be a good Moderator or Administrator because they lurk around, they see who is good for the job, unlike the community, the Administrators are looking at how the people's preformance as a member are, constantly, unlike the members that aren't always thinking of this. This is my guess.

NiKo

Jeesh, I never thought this would develop into such a big deal...

I would say "hey, since I'm the one who wanted to make place for my new replacement mod, shouldnt I pick him out?"

but i dont wanna do that. i know nothing of who is best for the job. I'm sure you know what's best for your forum...

so keep on arguing, if you must...

you know what, i retract what i said before, feral had every right to close this forum. it is clear to me now that the admin are the big boses who don't get involved with the petty squabbls of opur community (if they did they would have been down on us like hawks in the whole Mek incident a couple of months ago) but they do keep an eye on things and do watch us. even now when we are talking directly about them, they are not getting involved. to some, that's stupid, to me that's smart. they are taking their time and watching what is happening, assesing the situation before getting in there for the kill. basically, what i'm saying here is that this topic is pointless, al that needs happen is for Niko to send a PM to ZeroXcape or someone requesting a resignation and replacement and they will do the rest of the work. so if you must feral, close this topic, but the topic and argument has goptten too big now so it may be a bad idea.

Why not vote? It should be democrasy (sory for the damn bad spelling)

Guybrush122

I agree with Doodle Head. Democracy, though insanely flawed, is alot better than just picking someone right out of a hat.

Feral

You see? THis is exaclty why I closed the topic.
Guys, this isn't like runnning a country. As I siad further up in the topic, the fact that Isak nominated AcrylicGuitar as a mod shows that democracy is not the best way to deal with things in this kind of situation. And I thought I'd made it absolutely clear that this kind of decision isn't up to us, and nor should it be.
Christ, why am I even bothering? There's only Neil that's paying attention to my posts anyway.

Joshi

even if this was like running a country, when was the last someone voted for vice-president, they don't, they just get picked by the presidents. i gues we should have a say if we needed a new admin, but i think admin can pick the mods.

Kj°len
12-29-2002, 10:49 AM
Exactly, now why does it matter if we didn't get to vote for Vice President or Mods, if we don't like it, then we tell an admin if the moderator is truely abusing the powers, which would mean, countless times of error and constant disaproval of the members. Which I'd have to say, Feral is doing perfectly fine.
Seriously, look at us: A moderaotr does his job, which might involve making a few people a little upset, and look, now we're arguing about how a moderaotr gets picked!
People! WHO CARES? Why can't we just get back to a happy little forum eh?

But then again, if we would make it into a poll or something, would AG win? Just cause soemone said "AG' doesn't mean everyone wants him as mod.

It's democracy.

Everyone votes for his favourite, and the one with the most votes wins. If someone doesn't behave right, there won't be much votes for him and he won't win. It's as easy as that. Just start anothere poll about who should replace NiKo. It is, believe it or not Ferla, the best way.

BTW My vote is on Al-BFTBW or Brighteyes.

Feral
12-30-2002, 06:05 AM
See, you nominated Al and Brighteyes. Al is a spammer. A nice guy, and he doesn't doit intentionally, but definetely not mod material.
Brighteyes is barely ever here. Why don't we just make Monkey_Girl a moderator?
What I'm getting at is, even if you like that person, they might not make very good moderators. And besides, the decision is not ours to make. It's the admins who decide. You can't force them to make someone an admin.
Once again, I'm closing the thread. It's absolutely pointles, and there are still a lot of you that fail to accept the truth just because you don't like it.
