View Full Version : As of now StarWars Galaxies is scheduled for release at about the same time as KOTOR

If they are released at the same time, which one would you play first or which one at all or both?

Welcome to Starwarsknights.com!! :D

I have a gut feeling that we will be seeing Knights released in mid - March. But that's just my feeling......and to answer your question if it happens to be closer to the Galaxies release date, that's ok with me. Either way I'll be getting Knights first, of course. :D

It will be a while before I check out Galaxies.

Knights should come first says my feeling...

and I plan to get both...

12-25-2002, 07:18 AM
Knights of the New Rebublic of course!!

Star Wars Galaxies?

Who would want to spend around $10.00 a month for a game which isnt even free?

Welcome Ty...I don't believe I've seen you post here before...:D

Well, I was thinking of getting Galaxies, and have been following the development. But the more I hear and learn about it, the more I seem to lose interest in it... I may still get it yet, but the chance of it is dropping quicker than Clinton's pants...:D

I'd most likely get KOTOR before I get Galaxies. I'm not really much for RPG's, only played a few, but this one interests me. Most likely because of the Star Wars setting, but I'm always a sucker for a good story. And KOTOR has no monthly fee, which is a bonus over Galaxies. Not to mention, the only idiot I have to play KOTOR with, is myself. Whereas with Galaxies, I'll have to deal with dozens of idiots a day...

KOTOR will clean Galaxies clock for two reasons; first, KOTOR has no monthly fees, second, Galaxies is an online thing-a-majig. So people will pay the money for a non online RPG and get more fun out it then they would with an online RPG

Glorfindel, I come to the conclusion that you never played a mmorpg ?

Yes, they are expensive, but is still is an incredible experience, even more so if it's the SW Galaxy...

12-30-2002, 07:15 PM
Even though it will be a while before I check out swg, I still can't wait to play it.....I think it will be an incredible experience in the SW universe. :)

I got to try out Anarchy Online, Everquest, Dark Age of Camelot and Asheron's Call 2, and they all we're very cool in one way or another...

12-31-2002, 05:51 AM
Galaxies is sounding gayer each time I hear info on it.

Cloning facilities on every freakin planet & equipment insurance... Might as well just give them elves as a player race & be done with it.

Com Raven
12-31-2002, 05:56 AM
well, you have to take certain measures to keep a mmorpg playable...

12-31-2002, 08:29 AM
I really don't know much about the story.....can you do whatever you want? Or is there something to follow?

Com Raven
12-31-2002, 08:31 AM
well, the standard these days ia an overarching storyline with monthly special event and missions to move the story...

other than that, you can pretty much do what you want...

12-31-2002, 11:00 AM
Also, in addition to NPCs, they will have some (paid I think it said)real life people acting out characters to move the story.

No Jedi! No Hannibal's money!:D

12-31-2002, 07:36 PM
I think galaxies will outsell KOTOR a lot.

trust me, a lot of people are willing to pay to play in a star wars universe of this magnitude.

My hope is that Galaxies April 15 release date will not affect the KOTOR release date. I will be pretty disheartened if it does.

I agree whole-heartedly with FunClown on this one.

Maybe Galaxies will be delayed... by like... 4 months. :p

no, Galaxies date is set...

once LEC sets a definitite day for a release, they never push it...

and yes, those people are called gamemasters, and they are also online to provide in-game help...

I agree too.
I think Galaxies will be bigger than Everquest and all other MMORPGs.

Unless they make an update down the line where they change the time period, I won't be playing it.
It's to bad, cause it looks incredible.

it sure has the potential to blow the competition away...

You got that right, Com.

I've got a novel idea, consequences.

You get killed, you make a new freakin character...

Com Raven
01-01-2003, 01:59 PM
Which makes it boring. Once you have a beloved character, you won't try anything risky again...

And just staying home in fear of dieing, I can do that in real-life too :)

01-01-2003, 02:16 PM
lol, that is a novel idea. The thing with permanent death is that there isn't a save option.

Com Raven
01-01-2003, 02:48 PM
like in Steel Battalion, eject or all saves get wiped...

01-01-2003, 06:37 PM
People will buy Galaxies just for the mp........which is not the reason I personally would buy a game, but I know there are those that do.

01-01-2003, 07:01 PM
There is no single-player. Galaxies is solely MP. That is the only reason to buy it. You pay to have your character stored on their database so that you can have a continuing online role in an ever expanding game with thousands of other players.

01-01-2003, 11:33 PM
Oh.......well, now you see how much I know about the game.

01-02-2003, 12:16 AM
So, is the PC version still coming out three months after X-Box? If it is that will be about June, am I correct?

01-02-2003, 01:28 AM
As of right now the official word on the pc release date is "summer '03." My guess is August.....

Com Raven
01-02-2003, 02:11 AM
summer means late june to late september...

Late September?!

That never sounds right. That Summer goes into Sept.
I think we need to adjust the calendar.
Summer starts June 1st and ends Aug 31st.

that's something that always sets me off too :)

01-03-2003, 03:03 AM
Lol @ com Raven :)

The reason why I get so confused is that I'm in the southern hemisphere. Summer is Winter here and so forth. However, Summer can mean different months to our Winter (June to August).

Sounds stupid, but when your head is below your shoulders and are typing upside down, I'm sure you can understand my dilemma.
