Ah, so that's why i've had no responses......it's an empty thread! Well this thread's purpose is to talk about all things hockey, favorite teams, players, how your team is doing....etc. etc.

I'm an avalanche fan myself, been on since 95 when they first came to colorado....i actually got to see the opening game which was a blast :D

One of my favorite players is Radim Vrbata, even though he's really young and new i think he has great potential, and being surrounded by greats like Joe Sakic and Peter Forsberg he has some great mentors.

We just beat the San Jose Sharks 6-1 tonight! w00t!!!

Chicago Blackhawks for me, I'm loyal. I used to play right wing in high school. I still adore the sport, but I have to admit, I don't follow it as closely these days. I never turn down the opportunity to go to a game! :D

My St. Louis Blues who scored 2 short handed goals tonight in the same penalty and beat the Lightning 5-1. Poor Khabibulian got pulled after the 4th.

Colarado Avalanche have been my team since they started. Patrick Roy was my favorite goalie at the time and I was so happy when he got traded to Colorado. They have my favorite players, logo, and jersey, plus they are a good team.

My second favourite team would have to be the Ottawa Senators because I live in Ottawa. You gotta like your home team. Sens are doing really well this year. Sadly, they always crumble in the playoffs.

Edit: 400th post woot!!:D

2-0 Deins gets a shutout. He hurt me in my fantasy hockey.

I really don't follow Professional Hockey as much as I used to, but I root for Philadelphia. I also follow the Blackhawks to some extent, but not as much now that all the players I loved on that team have moved on.

Favorate players: I like the kids for some reason so Simon Gagne is probly my favorate player now. I got a Gagne jersey made up durring his 1st season.

I spend much more time playing it than I ever do watching it :)

Same here.

There is nothing and I mean NOTHING like the feeling of lacing up your skates outside in the cool winter weather and playing pick-up hockey on your hometown rink organizing friendly tournaments.

Ah, the memories....

If only we had an ice rink in my town..:(

i've only played ice hockey 3 or 4 times in my life...but luckily there will be intramural ice hockey or club hockey up at college next year, which makes me happy.

Most of the time my hockey is in-line....which is okay, but after ice-hockey you feel like you're dragging.....

Yep:)

BTW: Minnesota, man that is a story. They are one hell of an expansion team. I mean at the beginning of the year, would any of you have said Minnesota of all teams would dominate the NHL. I mean when you read off their players they seem like the worst team in the rule. But hockey is a team game and if you watch them play you can see why they are winning.:)

Unfortunantly they are deep in money problems right now.

Also, the Canadian junoir hockey team lost today. 3 to 2 vs the Russians. The worst game they played so far in the tournament. What pure crap.

Ottawa Senators. All the way. First place in the Eastern division, and tied for first in the entire league.

But yeah, their money problems are exceedingly bad, as in they may not be able to pull out :(

And I just saw that junior loss to the Russians. Damn it, that was harsh.

They certainly did start of the season with a bang....now they've kind of leveled off and moved down to 4th in the west, which is still amazing....I am most amazed at the fact that Vancouver is actually currently ahead of the red wings......i mean, i HATE detroit but they're a solid team and they're in 3rd...........boy i love hockey, standings can change so quickly....Avs are in 6th right now but i could see them pulling into 1st in a month if they keep playing like they have been, we're only 8 points out :D

The teams to pity this year are nashville, atlanta, and buffalo. If anyone you know is a fan of one of those teams, give them my condolences ;)

I love hockey. One of my fav sports. I pull for the canes here since I live in Raleigh and watch them all the time. I even work the concessions at some of the games for various fund raising events. I used to pull for the penguins pre-canes day since I really liked the players and they were an awesome team, but now since hockey has moved to the carolinas, I gotta support my home team.

I wish we were playing better right now though. :)

Yes, they are in serious money problems. (They are my home team too.) They didn't even get their paycheck last week. The Sens payroll has gone up but ticket prices have dropped. BAD COMBINATION.

btw: I go to alot of their games, I support them as much as I can. You gotta have hope they will pull it out. It is kinda sad too. The sens have finally become one of the powerhouses of the league and noone comes to see them anymore.:(

Never leave the game before it is over. This past week in football proved just that. Plus I remember a certain Blues game about 2 years ago against the Maple Leafs where they won 6-5 in overtime after being down 5-0 in the 3rd. NOW THAT WAS A GAME. The Blues beat the Avalanche last time they played too (I will not mention though that Forseverg or Sakic were not in the lineup however so this proves nothing).

Wtf no Toronto Maple leafs fans here?? Man the Leafs are GODS team in the National Hockey League, sure he hasn't given us a Stanley cup in 34 years (correct me if i'm wrong) but it's coming I can feel it.

We are doing all right but got lots of injurys right now (just like the sad ass Toronto Raptors i'm a fan of them too), Eddie Belfour saved that game vs the Devils the other day 51 SAVES WOOT!! Screw Cujo the Eagle is the MAN!!

I just can't wait till we get Brad Boyes and Carlo Colaiacavo (sp?), up on the big team for good then we'll have a semi good defense lol...

Oh and whoever said Brashear is the best fighter you don't know crap about hockey. He deserved that stick over da head by Mcsorley he's a big ass whiner and loser, and Tie Domi kicks his ass every time they go at it...

I thought it was 50 saves? And speaking as a Blues fan who gave CuJo his starting job I would rather have him than Eagle.

Barret Jackman is a beast when it comes to fighting. If you don't know him he was the 17th overall pick in the 99 draft by the Blues. Big Strong White D who has had a nice rookie year next to MacInnis.

Wow.....i was at last nights avs game against the flames. :(

That was so depressing.....altough i'm going to blame our loss on Martin Skoula.....i really dont like that guy and i hope we trade him soon.

It was neat that Detroit lost to the lightning.....heh heh heh....stupid redwings....

And i personally think that Scott Parker is one of the best fighters in the league. I saw him actually split a guys face open after a couple solid punches......he was bleeding all over the ice. He is a tough dude.

No it was 51 but thats beside my point. My point is that I was a huge "Cujo" fan as well as the majority of the Leafs fans, and when he "betrayed us," by signing with the "Dead thangs," we all felt dejected as Leaf fans (as i'm sure diehard Dallas Stars fans felt when then lost "The Eagle," or any team loses a marquis player). But what made me say that comment was the fact that us Leaf fans, like other fans around the NHL knew of Belfours immense baggage he brought with him, plus he had a terrible season last year, so we knocked him based on his bad reputation. But hell he's been doin' GREAT, early on it looked downhill but he's been our MVP the past 2 months so even though i'm still a huge "CUJO" fan, I gotta give the props to "the Eagle."

lol I agree.

Nah I don't hate you, I despise you, condemn you, and are utterly revolted by you lol... Seriously I love the big rivalry we got going here it's great. Still even though Ottawa is the best team in the NHL right now (dunno how they are playing for charity lmao), they will choke like they always do in the playoffs vs the Leafs (that's if they play 'em boy I hope they do). It just sucks that another Canadian team besides the Leafs, are doing consistently (Canucks and Oilers aren't bad but c'mon lol) well but are 160 million dollars in debt.

And whats with all the Ed Belfour bashing? I mean I know he's an idiot for the most part, but judge him by what he does on the ice, not off of it.

One last thing great game vs the Bruins. 3 goals in like 2:30 WOOT!! Gotta love Alex Mogilny...

ET Warrior
01-08-2003, 12:35 PM
I'm AM bashing his on-ice performance........pay attention to the next game he plays in and see just how often he catches the puck in his glove.....chances are you'll be able to keep track on the fingers of one hand. Even when the puck hits his glove it bounces right out because he doesn't know how to close it, and because of that he gives up rebounds like nobody's business.

Now maybe THIS year he learned how to do it, i dont know i haven't watched the leafs. But on dallas he practically gave up as many rebounds as the other team had shots on goal.

Well i've watched a lot more Leafs games this year then you have, and I have to say he's quite good with the glove (I haven't seen him bobble any pucks). I think your quick conclusions are ill concieved. Maybe you've only watched liked several Stars games, and in them he was having a bad game it happens it's coincidence. But you don't win 3 Vezinas, a Stanley Cup, and the Calder by going your whole career with the "worst glove in the NHL."

01-08-2003, 11:09 PM
Well, i watch a LOT of hockey...especially Western Conference hockey, and i guarantee that in years past Ed Belfour could not catch a flying puck to save his life. He covered the lower half of the goal like a machine, and his team was good enough to prevent other teams from taking good shots. Nearly every goal scored on Belfour was scored top shelf glove side, because his glove was crappy.

(i'll bet it still is, you just dont notice)

Has anyone else been fed up with the officiating. In the beginning of the season like all seasons they called all the penalties. Now they are getting more laxed in the calls. The thing that peeves me the most is when they no call a penalty and then the other team does an infraction and they do not call that one to balance out teh first no call. (Did that make sense?) The worst part is that then everyone gets heated thinking they can get away with murder and withing 10 seconds there are about 5 infractions happening and there each team is given a misconduct or only one.

Anyone?

GO BLUES! Beat them bastard Sharks.

Andy867

I agree, the officiating in general has begun to lack or become to relaxed. I mean look at the Avs/Blues games in November alone. where there were obvious fights and infractions, they called it roughing and gave them only 2 minutes for ROUGHING. ROUGHING?! The guy pelted the other for a good 10-15 seconds! And you call that roughing? Anyways, the refs need to open their eyes in time for the playoffs, or there will be bloodshed in the playoffs.

GO AVS!

ET Warrior
01-09-2003, 11:38 PM
Yeah.....officiating will probably always be like that.....they start off with strict enforcement but they loosen up halfway through.

Sweet Leafs win yet again, this is great. I'm glad Lemieux was out this one, course we were without Sundin, Renberg, Corson, and other's as well but it was a great game. Considering Pittsburgh had like frickin' 9 pp's and Toronto only had like 1-2 pp's (don't remember the exact figure but it was lopsided). So I agree with what you guys said earlier about the penalization skills of the current ref's. The reason the penaltys were obsurd early in the season was to try and crack down heavily on obstruction. But now the NHL ref's are getting NBA ref ideas where if they make one bad call they make up for it by omitting another one that could've been considered legit by most (bigteddypaul brought this up), and this doe's happen a lot in the NBA, the "make up" (non)foul/(non)penalty.

I guess you didn't see any one of his THREE consecutive shut outs this year. I watched one and a half of them and they were pretty good.

Also, having Blake take a penalty in the winding minutes didn't help since the Ducks got a PP and had their best D off the ice the enitre time.

Why the Blues of course off a goal by Al MacInnis.

Since no one dares make a bet agianst my invincible Blues what does everyone think about Mogilny and Hejduk not making the All Star Team? That was just wrong. Mogilny should have taken Sundin's spot and Hedjduk should have taken practically any other persons spot on the Western Conference (namely Iginla). And Why is Brewer on that list? Milan Hejduk NOT being voted into the all-star game is a crime against humanity.

Well, shoot....the Avs dont' play the blues the rest of the year...i would've bet a 100 creds on that game.....BUT if they both make playoffs and if the Avalanche play the blues, i'd be willing ot make a large wager on the outcome of that series.....if you're interested.

(and if st. louis plays the Wild later this year i'll bet on that game as well ;))

Andy867

The voting system is all screwed up to not add Hejduk. He is a rising star, yet they don't add him.. What is up with that! The avs will just have to beat everyone in the playoffs and win the stanley cup (again)

Well the Blues' last game is against the Avalanche so that is a long wait. However, the Blues play the Wild 3 or 4 more times. In fact there are 2 games in about a month between the Wild and Blues. I will bet a 100 if that is the wager. If I do not have enough points to pay you off then you will have to wait until I can get them (I will not spam the boards one day to ge the required credits to pay you off). But the Blues are not going to lose so I do not have to worry about this.

How about instead we do incentive betting.

Something like:

25 for a win
25 per short handed goal (empty netters are excluded)
25 per 2 power play goals (empty netters are excluded)
25 per hat trick
25 for a shutout
25 if no penalties are called on your team through the entire game
25 if your team scores 5+ goals (empty netters excluded)

Something like this. Or we could just do whoever wins gets an easy 100. Again this bet is open to anyone who thinks they can take on the Blues. I will bet a maximum of 100 credits per bout but if we do incentive then I will pay whatever everything adds up to it.

Anyone besides ET Warrior that wants to defend their team as the best in the NHL or should the Blues just claim that prize?

BigTeddyPaul

ET Warrior
01-20-2003, 12:05 PM
I'm not too big a fan of the incentive betting.......i'd rather just put the money on the win or loss of the game. And i'm not as confident in the Wild as I am in my Avalanche..........so I will wager 50 points on the Wild versus Blues on February 23rd if that's alright with you.

BigTeddyPaul

Mainly Senators. 71 points. Yeah baby. :D

You mention the Wild and Avs and neglect to mention Brett Hull's 700 goals?!? I must say that most of those are from St. Louis too back when Oates was pretty darn good even though he did have Hull to finish it off.

Blues are riding their nice mostly winning streak here and thanks to the Red Wings recent skid they are now in 3rd place 3 points ahead of the Wings.

Me so happy.

ET Warrior

I didn't mention his 700 goals because, i rather dont like Brett Hull. Mostly because he played for Dallas and now Detriot, both teams i hate. but i also think he's a goon ;)

Yeah, the avs have a 6 game winning streak with 10 games in a row going undefeated......no big deal. :D

Your blues best watch out, if the avs continue the way they're playing, St. Louis will lose their 3rd place to them.

I used to like the blues until "Iron Mike" traded off Joseph and Shannahan, thats when I found refuge with the Avs, and have been with them since, well Quebec to Colorado, but still, all the same, with the addition of Patrick Roy, thank you Montreal. So, Colorado, 10-game undefeated streak... I love the sound of that.. :D

Jarome Iginla has like some sort of bump on his head. LOL:p

BigTeddyPaul
02-26-2003, 04:21 AM
He might have a bump but he still scored 4 goals the other day. A shorty, a power play, an even strength, and an empty netter. That is basically all the different types.

DAMN YOU ET Warrior. You will get your 50 credits when I get them. How about double or nothing. I know they are playing at St. Louis soon and Tkachuk and Weight will not be there. Huh? Interested?

BigTeddyPaul
02-27-2003, 12:51 AM
Chicken! Even without Weight and Tkachuk and we are having a goalie in net who has played like 2 NHL games. He is our 4th goalie because for some reason Johnson has a groin injury, Brathwaithe is either hurt or they want Sanford to get some time in, and Divid our umber 3 guy has been hurt since the beginning of the hockey season when he played 1 NHL game for us. Up to you.

I will pay you the 50 when I get the credits now AND I will expect to be paid when the Blues beat the Avs at the end of the year.

Alrigth I paid you your 50 credits even though we should be even because if you were man enough you would have bet on the Wild a few days ago. The Blues lost MacInnis in the first 4 minutes and they had a goalie who has only played less than 5 NHL games and we shut you out! MWhahahaha. Demitra was the only all star (from the past few years) left on the team. Gone: Tkachuk, MacInnis, Pronger, Weight. And Demitra scored the goals.

Have fun everyone. Trade deadline in a week. I am getting chills.

We made it to the Conference finals just two years ago. That is pretty recent. (Does not mention the fact that they lost to the Avs who won the cup that year).

Here is a pretty good compliment: MORE THAN LIKELY whoever does not win the Central Division (Blues or Wings) will face the Avs. We are almos tguaranteed the playoffs each but we are fighting for the division for home field advantage throughout the playoffs but more importantly to not face Roy, Foresberg, Blake, Sakic, Hejduk, Foote, and Tanguay?!?!

I still think Dryden is the best goalie ever. Roy is the best goalie of my parents generation and he is the best goalie now. For some reason though every time I think of Roy in the postseason I always remember him doing the Statue of Liberty when the puck was still in his crease and the Red Wings score. Can't seem to get that out of my mind.

I have everysingle one of Roys fights. I love them to death. I can never get enough of goalies trying to kill eachother.

The Avs have a chance as do most teams. I just like the view of you throw a penny in the air 100 times, call heads 100 times, eventually you will get a heads. Since it is now 36 years and going we will get our heads.

BigTeddyPaul
03-07-2003, 11:31 PM
Your boys lost it tonight too. 3-0 lead and then give up 4 straight goals. Khabi is on my fantasy team so I was really happy when I heard that happen. Joseph was actually REALLY good tonight. It also didn't help that our D were asleep out there tonight and the Red Wings knew it was game time. I can tell you right now if we trade for a goalie we are still going to be in the same problem. Our goalies were not the problem tonight (yes I used goalies). It was the D. 2 of Federov's goals were on breakaways. One of them was a full one and the other one was mostly uncontested. Almost every other single goal besides the one Lindstrom and Federov assisted on was scored because our D cannot clear the net. Our D is the problem not our goalie.

There is one last thing I remembered and that was that most playoff teams like to rest their guys 1 of the last two games so our 100 point game might not be true to word. I remember last year we faced the Wings as the last game and we only had Weight and Mac in if I remember correctly.

I don't want to face the Avs.

The trick to beating the avs to to just let them have the lead after the first period. EVERY time that happens we come out in the second period flat and back on our heels, and tonight it came back to bite us in the ass......we couldn't recover from it....:(

Andy867
03-08-2003, 02:31 AM
Tonight was just not our teams' night. I was with my girlfriend up at the US Ice Sports complex where the blues sometimes practice, and there were blues fans there almost in tears after I walked in with them already down 4 nothing and I just watched as withing 15 minutes real-time, 3 more goals were scored. I just looked at my girlfriend and told her that Quennville should just throw in the towel and save something for the next game. I didn't get a chance to hear about the Avs until looking on here and saw ET's remark. Doh. Well, we can see why though. Roy wasn't in goal. Oh well, we'll get them next time and the time after that, and so forth:) But ET, this was only the first time this season where the Avs were up after the first period, and ended up losing. So, we had a bunch of factors working against us. Roy being givne a night off, Adam Foote was out with a pulled hamstring. So, we'll just have to win like, 7-0 next game. that should make up for it;)

BigTeddyPaul
03-08-2003, 03:41 AM
If it was any other team I wouldn't mind losing 7-2 as much but those bastards always rub it in our faces and we will always be known as those people who can't beat the Redwings.

The one thing that I hate about hockey is that sometimes I get so into it that if we lose I get depressed for a while. I get pissed off and hate everyone. Tonight was not a good night.

I thought Abeschier (sp) was your goalie of the near future.

BigTeddyPaul

Andy867
03-08-2003, 12:26 PM
Not for me, I have always been only for Roy. I didn't even like Craig Billington when he played. I just wanted Roy to play every game, even though we know what happens when goalies play every game, right BTP? Goalies tend to get hurt, oh like a certain goalie for the blues not too many years ago.

ET Warrior
03-08-2003, 12:51 PM
I believe that aebischer will in time be a really good goalie, but right now he's just not quite there....he plays a lot like Roy, but he's not as good at it. He doesn't handle the puck as well behind the net, and often times when he slides across the goal in the butterfly he ends up way out of position. He's also not quite as quick and able to spot the puck.....He'll be good once Roy's gone and he gets a lot of experience.

The problem last night wasn't aebischer though, Tampa Bay outshot us 35 to 25, and 3 of their 4 goals were because our defense didn't pick up the open guy in the slot and he had an easy shot on goal. Once we got that three goal lead we didn't play as hard, and it came back to haunt us.

Morris is so good he counts as two D don't ya know. I will always think Skoula is a center. Don't know why. Any way you put it you improved your D and are just going to be that much harder. Dang you.

Ducks would suck without Giguere and Karyia. They have gotten a lot better but out of all the playoff teams they are probably the ones I want to face the least except the Oilers only because Salo is not playing well. St. Louis can beat any team if they have an average goalie.

My team list is:

#1 Edmonton
#2 Wild
#3 Ducks
#4 No one else in the West top 8. They are all great and could very well be number 1.

The ducks are good because of Giguere. He posted the longest consecutive shutout streak this season at like 3 and 3/4 of a game. He made something like 38 saves tonight. If the Blues beat Giguere the Blues beat the Ducks. It is a little bit different for teams like Chicago. Their goalies are pretty good but they can afford to give up some goals because they have some proven goal scorers (even though that has not been the case as of late).

Yea, speaking of which, whats up with the Senators and their motion of kicking NHL @$$. I mean, back in the 90's they could barely win 50 games in a 4-season stretch, more less make the playoffs. And now look at them with 94 points as the NHL standing leader. I think the avs need a repeat Cup-winning Playoff run:) And that;s all I gotta say bout that.

You know the worst thing about this trade? I own a Radim Vrbata Jersey. :( But really, we got Battaglia to give us a power forward on the sakic line, someone who will take the punishment in front of the net and open up opportunities for sakic......and sakic got a hat trick last night so maybe it worked :D

Seriously though, why the heck did the blues have to tie the canucks? I would have LOVED for them to beat vancouver, but noooo. ;)

Andy867
03-14-2003, 04:35 PM
Sakic is just merely getting his edge back. He has been hailed more than once as having probably the best wrist shot in the league, among retired and active players. His is so quick and so accurate and his hat trick poves it:)

BigTeddyPaul
03-14-2003, 04:50 PM
Don't you hate that when they trade a player and you have his jersey? I will be getting a MacInnis one here soon and since St. Louis will keep him until he retires it is a sure thing. I would hate to have owned like a Nolan jersey or something. I probably would still wear it because I like Nolan.

No one is disputing Sakic's abilities Andy. His 3 goals yesterday against Denis proved that for like his 12 or 14th hat trick.

I pray Tkachuk isn't hurt too badly. That would soooo screw us over.

Exciting and not. I hope Tkachuk gets healthy in time. Such a freaky hit that just seemed to jam his wrist. Bastard May. Then he got hurt his next game. Hit his head on the ice. Felt sorry for him. 3-4 weeks is a lifetime. It will be good. I wonder if Osgood and Roy will go at it? I would love to see that. I really want Osgood to face them damn Red Wings though AND WIN. In a way spit in their face and show them just what they missed out on. Probably won't happen becase we will probably lose to the AVs (they are just that good) and another year will go down the drain. Is Blake alright? Blake's fine, he played again maybe 4 minutes later.

Forsberg is the weird one, he's missed one and two thirds of a game and his hit looked completely normal and harmless. He just hit the guy kinda hard into the boards, then limped off the ice and was not seen again....CRAZY!

The blues have a chance in the playoffs against the avs if we play anything like how we've played the last two games...HORRIBLE....it makes me so sad :(

Hopefully wednesday we'll pick up when Forsberg returns.

Andy867

He probably claimed US citizenship so that he could play for the u.s.a. team

BigTeddyPaul
03-17-2003, 11:06 PM
The Brett Hull story: Brett Hull was Canadian born. When the Olypics came around the Canadiens slighted him and did not choose him to compete on the team. He was however legally able to play for the US (I believe because his place of residence was over like 2 years or something) and since the US cannot compete with the skill of Canada we asked if he would be on our team. He accepted and the rest is history. I believe he had a chance to play for Canada the next Olympics but instead choose the US because they picked him.

I will never forgive the leadeship of the Blues! They had to give up 4 or 5 first round picks for signing Scott Stevens when it was illegal. THEN there was something illegal about getting Pronger which sent Shannahan away. AND they choose to not sign Hull. IDIOTS!

Hull is magic.

No offense to all you Avs fans out there but I am praying for a 11 game winning streak from the Wild and take over that 5th spot from a struggling Avs team. I realllly don't want to play the Avs. Even if we do win we will be so beat up and tired it will suck. Kind of like that series last year between the Kings and Avs and then the Avs and Wings. 7 hard intense games was not good.

Not to mention that we played Vancouver in a tough hard hitting 7 game series, then 7 games against LA..and finally 7 games versus detroit....MAN, that was rough on us......

And I'm sorry to disappoint, but we're not giving up our 5th place for ANYTHING. ;) Mebbe we'll move up to 4th, we'll see ;)

Ahhh screw you! I mean that nicely. Lucky bounces I tell ya. Osgood let a few rebounds out and the Khavanov/Pronger duo didn't play too well. We should have won that one but I had a sneaky suspicion we would have lost or tied that one when they made it 5-4.

It is the playoffs that count anyways. I want to see Roy be a fan or Miss Liberty again. Ahh fond memories and they will be even fonder when it is the Blues who demolish them. I actually want to see an Osgood Roy fight. You have the hottest team right now IMHO. Screw the Wings. They are good but the way Colorado has been I am scared.

Was it 50 or 100 points on the last game and how many for the series? I have a couple hundred to burn.

I think man games lost are 1 Kings 2 Phoenix 3 St. Louis.

LA got royally screwed this year by having A LOT of their guys out. Atleast the Blues were able to keep up with everyone but Allison and Deadmarch, both +point per games players, hurt their offense soo badly. Then Potvin and your D went. Atleast you know how your farm team is.

Go Avs and BOOOOO Canucks. Don't want to face hottest team. Don't want to face hottest team.

OMG! I cannot belive this is true but it was on ESPN and TSN so I believe them.

Apparently Domi is beig sued because some fat man fell into the penalty box with him when he was taunting Domi. Domi sprayed him with water and the fan came at him. Then his huge gut made him fall in. On top of this the event happened like 2 years ago.

they have 3 more wins than the Avs, and the Wins in the end get you the Cup, not points from Regular season. :D (but we all know that, just make a valid point/opinion)

If Colorado had won those 8 OTL, then maybe I'd consider any team in trouble, even though any team that does play Colorado is in trouble.. But I am also a statistical guy, and 90 Win points beats 84.. but if it were 90 win points against 100 win points (from the 8 OTL, then that would be another story. ) Speaking of which, if they are going to give someone a point for an OT loss, then why not bump wins to 3 points, ties to 2 points, and keep OTL at one point... Cuz saying that an OTL is the same as a tie in the statistics book just doesn't seem right.

I NEVER HIDE! I am a Blues fan. Being one and proclaiming to the world that fact is proof enough of my devotion (36 year losers). I just haven't been on in a few days. Sheesh! Can't a guy take a break once in a while.

I was actually happy for the loss. We now face Vancouver who we are still POed about by that injury to Tkachuk from May. The last time we played them it was the best game I have watched in years since playoff hockey to be exact. If we can stop Bertuzzi and Naslund we can handle the twins and the occassional other peon goals.

It is nice to know it takes a full roster to beat a depleted Blues team. I wish only Hejduk got the 50 and not Forseberg with teh scoring title. I am happy for him and all but I wish Nasland could have kept one of them. He deserved it with his overall points (like 48 goals and 55 assits or something compared to Peter's 28 goals and 77 assists). <---- Those stats are not confirmed just a rough estimate.

I still don't know how a guy who has the Rockey Richard Trophey for first to fifty goals does not make the playoffs. Screw the fact that they had Blake, Sakic, Forsberg, and Roy going. If Tkachuk, Demitra, Weight, Pronger, and MacInnis were all going and someone like Stillman was having a stellar season already I wouldn't care. The all-star game is to see the best!

Forsberg was hurt last year and in my opinion was a good thing. He was a monster in the playoffs. Peter the Spleenless.

You will get your credits soon although I still don't think it is entirely fair. If you sat Sakic and Blake or someone else I would think it was more fair but a bet is a bet.

ET Warrior

I think Forsberg deserved points wins, simply because he makes goals happen. Those 77 or so assists are because he's approximately the greatest hockey player in the NHL. The assist for Hejduk's 50th goal was just plain great. He was getting knocked over and managed to kick the puck RIGHT to Hejduk just as he was getting smashed by two guys!!! YEAH-HA!!!

We would have sat some people if that game hadn't meant so much to us.........

Doesn't look like the avs will face the blues unless it's in the western conference finals

Bring it on BABY! That 50th by Hejduk was rather sweet AND if I had to choose one person to be on my professional hockey team I would choose Peter first.

Be glad that you didn't face my Blues. A very bold 6-0 win over the Canucks. Hopefully it isn't a one hit wonder. If you guys lose to the Wild I will laugh so hard.

I ALSO HATE THIS! I don't care whos team the want to win but when the Avs fans started leaving when the score was 4-1 with 4 minutes left I got pissed. They must think it is impossible for the Avs to score 3 in 4 minutes. I hate those so called fans.

Good:
Blues won 6-0 over Vancouver
Ducks won 2-1 over Wings in TRIPLE OVERTIME
Avs lost 4-2 by the Wild.
Dallas lost 2-1 to Edmonton
Isles won 3-0 over Ottawa

Bad:

Boston lost 2-1 to the Devils

This was some funny stuff. I found this off the ESPN boards by BLOODWINGZ the one Red Wings fan I actually respect.

http://www.welovetheiraqiinformationminister.com/images/wirq13.jpeg Spokesman for the Detroit Red Wings

He used to work for Saddam, but now he's all ours!

His first Official Press Release:

"I NOW INFORM YOU THAT YOU ARE TOO FAR FROM REALITY."

You think Wings are losing? You are hilarious!
They are in our trap, now, the infidel Ducklings. They will roast on spits, in Hockeytown Hell.
Don't believe anything you've heard, from liars like the satanic fool Melrose, or that sissy Maclean! We will chase the rascals back to Detroit, and then back to Anaheim, and finally we will trap them in Detroit, and kill them without mercy. Slaughter them like the barnyard animals they are, for our Sunday dinners.

We're now trying to exhaust them, until our leadership decides the time and method to clean our territory of their desecration. That time is coming soon, very soon. We are surrounding them and pounding them. The whole trend has changed and we are going to finalize this very soon. We're giving them a real lesson, in every game. Heavy doesn't accurately describe the level of casualties we have inflicted.

Do not believe this lie, you see on your televisions, your state-run ESPN, which is a tool of the Disney Empire! We are winning, and winning big. Brett Hull has not even been used yet. Sergei Fedorov is relaxing in the wings, heheh, no joke intended. How will the Ducks handle them, when we finally unleash their awesome power? They cannot. No one can.

We will push those crooks, those mercenaries back into the smoggy swamp of California, where the women are all superficially pretty, and thin. They can chase those women around then, all summer, and golf with them, while the Red Wings are drinking fine Scotch whiskies from the Stanley Cup.

When we were making the laws of hockey, when we were writing the history and the legends of hockey, the grandfathers of Babcock and little Kariya, and that stumpy little Steve guy, were scratching around in caves. We invented the game. These mercenaries have no right to our property.
These Detroit fighters are slapping those Disney gangsters on the face, and then when they flee, they will kick their backsides. Four times in a row, and it will be easy. No contest.

Come and see me next week, at my pool in suburbs of Detroit. I will be the one laughing, with a meaty blonde woman rubbing my tan and happy shoulders. The Disney tools will be crying, in their golf carts, perfecting their short games. You will see.

All games down to the wire. I pray the Blues win. They can beat anyone left. I was only worried about the Wings and now they are gone. Cannot believe we were up 3-1 and now it is tied IN VANCOUVER! Pretty please win. Avs are home too so that is in their favor. Whoever wins the eastern game 7 will likely come out of the East. Them or NJ. Blues can beat any of them.

Pretty please win tomorrow. A whole season down to one game. Unbelievable.

Don't know about the rest of you but I slept three hours last night. I could not sleep for the life of me and now I am paying for it. I am off to take a two hour nap and then watch the Wild win 4-3. Hehehe.

I will make God and you Avs fans a deal. If the Avs win the Blues have to win. Only way I accept a Wild loss.

Three game sevens and like 7 OT games! What a great playoff year. Ohh and the Wings lost in 4. Hahahahah!

EDIT: Life as a Blues fan:

The Blues lost 447 man games to injury in the regular season, second only to Los Angeles, and still ran off 99 points.

Job, the Biblical victim, has nothing on Joel Quenneville. The Blues coach has weathered every affliction but a plague of locusts.

This season, due to injuries and ineffectiveness, the Blues tied an NHL record by using seven goalies. A week before camp, starting goalie Brent Johnson went down with a high ankle strain suffered during a shinny session. He missed the first 27 games, plus another five later with a groin strain, and was mostly ineffective when healthy.

With Johnson out early, the Blues won four straight games with an NHL-record four different goalies -- three of them rookies. One of them was Reinhard Divis, the best goalie in all of Austria. He promptly pulled a muscle, missed half the season and was about to be recalled from the minors when he was shelved again ... by a spider bite.

Scoring leader Pavol Demitra missed four games with the chicken pox.

Center Doug Weight, who missed two games after taking a shot off an ankle at the All-Star Game, missed 10 games after a rival goalie cleared the puck off his face near the net.

A bout of food poisoning sidelined five players, weakened up to 10 others and left only 18 players on skates for a December loss in New Jersey.

Power forward Keith Tkachuk missed 26 games from injury and suspension, and still scored 31 goals. If he played 82 games he would be projected to have 48 goals!!!

Defenseman Jeff Finley was suspended four games for reaching out of the penalty box to stop Derian Hatcher from pounding Demitra, a pacifist, during a melee with Dallas.

All-Star defenseman Chris Pronger, the incumbent captain, missed the first 77 games after radical knee and wrist surgeries.

Bruising winger Jamal Mayers has been out since November after knee surgery.

Winger Martin Rucinsky missed a dozen games with a bum shoulder.

Rookie center Petr Cajanek missed two dozen games with a broken leg, got back in gear, missed three weeks with a head injury and just returned during Game 6.

Center Steve Dubinsky, who was emerging as the team's best faceoff man, has been out for three months with a concussion. Coincidentally or not, the Canucks are beating the Blues to the draw, 58 percent to 42 percent, the best and worst faceoff rankings in the first round.

Decently good article.

Not necessarily the Canucks to blow it in the third as opposed to the Blues coming alive in the 3rd. If you look at their record most of the goals are in the 3rd. We wake up as the game goes along but this game is making me depressed right now.

A whole season based on one game which turned into three.

Karry Frasier is the one killing the Avalanche in the game... 2 of the 3 Power Plays since the 2nd period have led to Wild goals... But I still have faith that an Avalanche will get the game-winner to pit the Avalanche against the Canucks, unless the Blues get their act together.

I still want to argue the Wild goal back in the 2nd period.. the Wild offense guy had a skate in the crease before the puck entered the crease, and I believe Tony Granto should have argued the call, in which case the Avs would have won, but like I said, KARRY *%*%#( Frasier killed the Avs. (pulls out shotgun, races to Denver colorado and pops Frasier in the heart for killing the avs race for the cup.

I already called the National Referee's Association and filed a formal complain that Karry Frasier made terrible calls, and didn't call the in the crease, which the representative said that they already heard about which means other Avs fans have called in, and that Karry's actions are being under review due to the high volume of complaints, so. Hopefully the a$%*hole won't be back next year to kill the avs again.. Maybe he will get in a car accident(what's the number for that Voodoo caster person in Tijuana?)

whoa - those are some serious steps being taken there! :P though i understand... it's gotta suck.

as for the skate in the crease thing - didn't they totally scrap that rule a couple years back? the one where if you have a skate in the crease the goal is disallowed? or am i thinking of something else?

I piss on the Canucks! They go down in 6. Goalies rule!

We FINNALLY GET HEALTHY AND WE GET THE FLU!!! We dominated all of 5 minutes yesterday and then nothing. Another year down the crapper.

I am actually rooting for an eastern team. I have always liked the TB Lightning. Probably won't win but either them or Philley. I love an American who wins. Go Roenick.

Andy867
04-24-2003, 01:52 AM
it was a nice move going in, but 99% of the time, the puck hits a groove in the ice since the skates dig a lot near the crease, and will bounce off the stick, causing the player to lose control, therefore, be unable to score the goal. not to worry, I played the Avs in my NHL 2003, and won the series in a sweep.. 4-2, 5-1, 6-2, 11-0... :) and then I beat Vancouver 9-4 so far.

NHL games suck. They all do. I do not care what settings are on them they bite the big one. For my 1998 N64 one if you do a slap shot near the red line while moving you have like an 80% to score. In NHL 2003 on XBox all you had to do was go from the left of the goalie to his right in a few seconds and shoot at the net. In NHL 2002 on PS all you had to do was hold deke right before and you scored most of the time.

I haven't played since I scored over 90 in a 60 minute game. Just not realistic. AND the worst is when you go to fight if you do nothing or don't do any haymakers you only get a 2 minute roughing while the opposing team gets a 5 minute major leaving you with a 3 minute PP. Just too many bad things about hockey which makes me mad. They finally made drafting but only like 2 rounds. There is no farm team to help development. If you spend enough time you can work around the trading block (Modano for Domi). All you have to do is trade a 56 for a 58 and then a 58 to a 60 and a 60 to a 63 Etc Etc Etc. I have been able to get EVERYONE except Rob Blake. For some reason D men are unattainable. Him and Pronger but since I was the Blues I didn't need to get Pronger. I offered Sakic and Lemieux for Blake and still nothing. Stopid computer.

OMG i SO know what you mean about the 98 one! I would just skate up the right wing and take a slapshot and the goalie would just collapse. It was SERIOUSLY sad.

I think there was one game I played where I had like 70 shots or something... that was interesting. I'd just ram into players and they'd cough up the puck like anything. pathetique! :P

I remember the old Stanley Cup game for the super nintendo I believe it was. You just skate to the red line push up and shoot, and 80-90% of the time, it would go in.. or you just deke left twice and bam, goal EVERY time.

Mighty Ducks 4, Stars 3, 5OT

Now that's what you call one LONG game. 4th Longest in NHL History. the game went like an extra 80 minutes and so many seconds. In real-time, it lasted 5 hours, 52 minutes long.. 6:40PM on Thursday the 24th of April to 12:32AM CST onn Friday, the 25th of April, 2003. Geez. 8 periods of hockey. Now thats what you call talent, but it must have been a bummer for Steve Thomas, who had a goal disallowed because the goal net was dislodged from its morrings. And Also for the Dallas player who scored, only to have it disallowed because a Dallas player was offsides. only 6 penalties were called the entire game. Good thing the players were well rested. 8 days for Anaheim, 4 for Dallas.

What he said, I've been a fan since our goalie was Stefan Fiset, a goalie change will not change my loyalties even the tiniest amount. I think Abeischer has potential to be good, he needs more experience........whiche he will get if he starts next year.

When Abeischer did get to play, he definitely had his moments that proved that he belonged here, and was able to play with the Pros, and with Patrick Roy helping his son Jonathan with his goaltending in a minor league in Quebec, Abeischer will have much more playing time, and will definitely get the experience to shine with the rest of the Avs as the Elite of the NHL.
