:deathii: Here is a screenshot from the first room of Trade Federation Control Ship Multiplayer Map that I recently started to create.

:deathii: It's the room where Obi Wan and Qui Gon are trapped and gas is coming out of the floor (in Episode I).

I would be glad to here your opinion.:) Please be honest :D ,

Looks to be very nicely detailed (honest!). I seem to remember everything following more of a grey/silver type color scheme, but it still looks like a great start. I'd like to see more when you've got it.

I'm guessing you just used some bespin textures? basic and basic2 or something like that? I would love to see this map with custom textures, it looks like all that room needs is a paint job to make it look like the actual movie set.

You can find some useful textures in the standard set, one that comes to mind is cairn/eledoor (I think), a shiny metal elevator door. For exteriors, the exterior textures for Cairn and the doomgiver would probably work well, and for now, some of the Coruscant or Lady Luck textrues could do nicely.

Looks like it has lots of potential, but as it stands, it is far too bland, it needs fine details, which come entirely from the textures you choose!

Perhaps for reference material(some?) you could refer back to the original The Phantom Menace psx game. Or maybe Jedi Power Battles. Perhaps you could add a few tanks in the area Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon talked about the negotiations(or wherever they were), and perhaps you could also create the hangar and other passages that weren't in the movie or games.

looking very good. This screen shot quality isn't great. Nice job on the table but I seem to remember it having legs, maybe not.the doors don't exactly seem like they would open either.

No, I make new textures. In some cases I use some textures from the game.

Some of the map's places are inspired from the Phantom Menace game.

The stars skybox is from the game, so I don't think that I need to create a new one for the time being.

I agree. This was a place that I've been wanting to see mapped for some time, and from what I can tell, it looks quite detailed.

dude are you on TPM TC team? if not, you should get with them about putting this in SP. I loved the Control ship on jedi power battles (even though i never owned it) and on the phantom menace game (except for the parts in the vents), and would be thrilled to see this in JKII SP, especially with the awesome toonces models.

I recently started to create the hangar. I have reached 7500 brushes and I expect to release the map Spring/Summer time period.
The "Spring/Summer period" means that the map is possible to be released in May but is also possible to be released in July. It depends from the free time that I will be able to spend creating the map.

It looks jolly good, I especially like the first room which oddly enough reminds me about Star Trek design.

I'm not a mapper but I've dabbled a little with Worldcraft for Half-Life and it had a black texture that would be the complete absence of light and not reflect light at all. I don't know if this is the case with the black textures that you've used on the table in the first room e.g. but if it is then you might want to change to a slightly lighter texture that will reflect light.

I will make no food/drink analogy, but this is one amazing looking maps - it combines great mapping with a location from the films which everyone always loves, this is definately gonna be a very popular map!

The release date is summer 2003, possibly July. It's very early to decide which will be my next project. I will decide it after the map release.

Yeah, Eldritch has it right. That's the place I'm talking about.

By the way, it's also the place where one Neimoidian sits in a command chair and orders the activation of the battle droids. (And in another scene, you can see many command chairs occupied by more Neimoidians to the sides of that central chair).

I think it would be great if we could go fight in the bridge of the Trade Federation Control Ship and see the command chairs, windows, view screens, control panels etc. Unfortunately, it would take a lot of work though. :(

You mean the Viceroy room. I have already done the floor, the windows and all the other objects except from the chairs, the video wall where Amidala appears and the ceiling.

Or better yet, a Qui-Gon or Obi-Wan model. The bridge looks like a great start, Breath. And that video wall should be pretty easy to do with a shader.

Are you all BLIND or something? Do you maybe remember CHAIRS around the table??? I see ONE when it should be TEN exactly. Then the consoles on the table glows in the movie. Then theres the string of lights(?) at the base of the table, NOT in the movie at all. more details that are WAY wrong about the table. Table in game go straight down from the base up. While in the movie its more like / only its around 45 degrees. Infact why dont you first watch the movie... look how the table LOOKS LIKE then you can trash the one you have ingame and make one that looks like the table from the movie. The rest of the room is just great. very good details. The textures ARE infact much much more grey-ish. With grey-ish textures a table that looks like the one in the movie and chairs, with all that then you got yourself almost a replica of the room seen in the film.:jawa

Whether or not the table actually has those faults you mentioned, it seemed able to convince everyone else in this thread that it was the accurate table. When mapping, you sometimes have to sacrifice certain elements of accuracy for other reasons (performance, file size, etc).

The greyness of the textures was discussed in the beginning, though. Breath is using the textures from the Phantom Menace game, and those are the colors they have.

I agree with you though... I think the textures should be edited to make them more grey, as seen in the movie. It wouldn't be hard to do.

I DON'T use textures from the Phantom Menace game. 90% of map's textures are custom, created by myself. The rest 10% of map's textures are from Jedi Outcast.

The textures in the first room are actually grey. The lights are giving this brown color to the room. I could have done all the map grey, like the movie, but it's not my purpose to be so accurate.
I just want the textures and the lights to make the map's atmosphere to be like the Phantom Menace game atmosphere. To be like the Phantom Menace game atmosphere means to be like the movie's atmosphere.

Yes, the chairs are ten in the movie. In the final version of the map, the chairs will propably be six.
But you don't need to be so agressive just for the number of chairs. I can place hundreds of them especially for you, Tuna'ckz.
It's just a copy-paste job...


Infact why dont you first watch the movie...

I inform you, my friend, that I have watched at least 20 times this part of the movie.
It's not posible to make a map so accurate to the movie. But it's posible to make a map very similar to the movie (like my map).

yeah i agree this map rules i saw the trailer that was made and it rocked :)

plus he hasn't finished it Tuna'ckz and he may decide to have less chairs cause if it wasn't for him there probably wouldn't be a trade federation map cause i think its a great idea

My mistake. If I insulted you, I apologize. It wasn't my intention.

It's not posible to make a map so accurate to the movie. But it's posible to make a map very similar to the movie (like my map).

Right now the map is 50% done. The other 50% includes some underlevel areas (similar to the underlevel areas from the TPM game), many secret areas, the bot route, power ups placing and the sound effects.

I am satisfied with the current map size. When I complete the underlevel areas that I mentioned before the map will be really big. Don't expect much news for the map until 15th June because I study for the exams. Wish me good luck.;)

just played, very nice breath. first time i couldnt find my bearings since most of the corridors look the same, but after goin through it 2-3 times i felt i knew everything :) supurbly detailed map, i got around 60 fps with a geforce2 so good job on that :thumbsup:

Hmmm...very good, I see you took a lot of inspiration from the TPM game.

Some areas could do with some layout work...like there's only one way out of the hangar. And some textures are overstetched/misaligned. But all in all, a very cool, detailed map. It looks like the battleship.

The only things i see wrong with it is a ship is needed in the hanger and the ambassador meeting room, i think should close. You might wanna add these in a future release. Overall it's a good job.

If by "ambassador meeting room" you mean the room where Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan were when the Neimodians tried to kill them with the gas, you need to look harder, 'cause that room IS in the map.

I do agree with him about a ship in the hangar, but unfortunately I don't think there's a prefab or model of that red Diplomatic ship that gets blown up. Too bad... it'd be perfect there (and might help to break up some of that repeating hangar floor texture).

I wanted to put Lando's ship in the hangar (like LivingDeadJedi did in Duel of the Fates map), but it wasn't fitting with the general atmosphere of the map.

Do you mean that the door should be closed?
I left the door opened because I wanted the meeting room to attract the player's attention. In addition, I think it's beautiful to see the corridors from inside the room.



I had also constucted an underlevel corridor (like the underlevel areas in the TPM game), but serious compiling problems forced me to erase this part of the map.
Generally, when the number of brushes was greater than 13000 I was getting compiling errors. That's why I put only one chair and not six or more.

I think the score is not fair, because 6/10 is the score of my previous CTF map (Battle Station No. 1138) in JK2Review. Obviously, Trade Federation Map is much better than Battle Station No. 1138.
:deathii: I don't think that low FPS is a serious flaw of a map. LivingDeadJedi's Duel of the Fates v1.0 map (the most downloaded map ever) had also very low FPS.
:deathii: I DIDN'T use any texture from any other game. All custom textures have been created by me. I have mentioned it BEFORE. Obviously, you don't believe me.
Anyone who has played the phantom menace game can say that the textures are not the same.

I accept that there are some flaws, but they are not so important as you mentioned in the review.
I think the review is constructive, but it's also very strict and harsh. Anyway, everyone's opinion is accepted.:)

I think that Trede Fed map is very fun, because the real fun for any Star Wars fan, is that he feels like he is fighting and playing on Trade Federation Droid Control Ship. That's why Howgarts map will be fun, because people will feel like they are playing in Howgwarts. That's why Duel of the Fates map is fun, even if it's a long, "one-way" and "low-fps" map.

I hate to say it, but it is a bad review.

No offense taken, but again, as I said in the review, it's not that the individual flaws themselves are such a big deal. It's that there are so many of them, and I didn't even mention everything I wanted to.

Much of it could've been fixed before release by sending a beta to a couple testers.

And in light of the fact that your Battle Station map received the same score, I will be upping the Trade Federation map by a bit, since it was better.

And sorry if I made a bad assumption about the textures, but many of them looking kind of low-rez so I figured...

Oh, and if LDJ's DotF map was reviewed (by me, anyway) it would get a lower rating than Shadriss' remake of it because of the framerate issues. Framerate is a huge factor in a good map - no one wants a map where all they can do is walk around in it by themselves.

Ive seen many maps and this one is one of my favorites I give it an 8/10. I love it!

Ummm no, more like maybe it opens up when u get close enough up to it, not intirely closed off and sealed. And yes the Ambassador Room is were Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan waits for the Trade Federation Viceroy. And it is good you did try Lando's ship anyway,But maybe someone could maybe make a prefab for the Republic Cruiser...it would be nice

btw-do you plan to do maps for jedi academy?
