View Full Version : Post Counting
I'm new here so try not to bite my head off.
Would someone explain to me how the post counters on this site work?
Is it that you only get credit for a post if you started the thread, or what?

You get points according to how many posts you make whether you started the thread or not. But don't try to bulk up on points by spamming or you'll have to bear the consequences.
Okay, that clears up half of the issue.
What about posts? How are they counted?
Ya but this happened to me a few times too. I would make a post and my points or posts didn't go up.

well the theory is that with every post you make, your post count goes up by one, and i *think* your points gos up by 2.
But things are bound to go amiss eventually

Keep in mind that there are two separate counters now, Axis. Posts is easy to figure out. Your post number is equal to the number of "posts" you have. You post every time you make a new topic, or reply to a topic. Using the Personal Message system, or posting in forums where it specifies that your posts won't count (such as the High Roller's Lounge) will not count toward your post total.
Points, on the other hand, are sort of confusing. You earn points by posting, and when people reply to threads you start. You get 2 points per post you make, and 1 point for each reply made to a thread started by you. However, if the thread/post is crap and gets deleted by a mod, you lose points (I'm not sure how many).

Speaking of post counts, what happened to mine? I remember I had almost 900.

Ironically, the majority of points are earned by replying to the many posts requesting "What the hell is this points system?" or "Points system? What the hell is this?"
You can also "Rate" people, giving them a point or taking one away from them. No doubt you shall test this out now, removing points from my immense total. And after I named them all, and gave them a back story. :(
