lucasarts strapped for cash? how did this happen?

They were robbed. CNN suspect it was somehow linked with both Iraq and al-Qaeda.

LucasArts don't need to release JK2 on the PS2, as it's already brimming with many first person shooters. The Game Cube, on the other hand, doesn't have half as many, and perhaps it had been estabilished through market research that there was a large Star Wars / FPS fanbase that owned GameCubes.

If you really want to play it, get it for the PC - The format it was supposed to be played on.

long live the PC! the ultimate platform! (in my opinion)

Or Xbox. I thought the force powers could be a bit fiddly on a keyboard, so I also wanted to try it on a console.

It's not that good a game anyway.

I think they said it was the PS2's hardware - wasn't worth the time or money to pay a programmer work full time to optimise JKII's modified-Q3 code enough for it to run at consistant 30 FPS. The XBox port especially seemed to be pretty good, though the GC one wasnt that bad either I guess (depends on if you trust IGN or Gamespot). Force powers were cycled through with one of the buttons, as were saber stances. Apparently it wasnt all that unmanageable. I've only played it on PC's and Macs though.

I liked it, personally, once you get the saber and a few force powers that is.

Yeah, I liked the game. It wasn’t totally amazing, but it was pretty fun and generally well made. Definitely recommended to Star Wars fans.
