As most of you know, I am doing a variety of things for the next version of Duelers. I was planning on including my own personal skins & another one of the game designers skins also. All my skins are is my avatar with the reborn skins, but Daelinas skins were a custom job.

Anyways, someone I know told me that they think it's not a good idea to include your own personal skin in a mod pack your working on like Spectrum/BOFH did with JediPlus. Now I don't agree with this myself, so I wanted to know what you guys think.

Is it cool, or is it lame?

SAlu2 First of all, you're basically voting on whether or not its cool or lame to include you skins in your mod or a mod your helping with.

Second of all, to edit skins I recommend Adobe Photoshop & Paint Shop Pro, both I have found can do things the other cannot. Photoshop is a better quality proggy, but Paint Shop is neccessary for the actual output of files, so I guess I would recommend PaintShop Pro. You need to download the SDK & read through the skinning tutorial, that's pretty easy. The .skin files point out which file (.tga/.jpg) to use for which texture, then you use whichever proggy you prefer to edit those file types.

As far as making hilts goes, I'm using Milkshape. GMax looks like a better proggy, but I don't get it, so Im using Milkshape since it's more down to earth as far as comprehension-wise.

Hope this helps.

Ok, im going to vote, becouse i dont wanna generate any disturbance in the short while ive been here, lets start with the right foot:D

I think that u should include your skins in one of your mods or in the mods youre helping with, becouse, if u`re good modeling or editing skins, this maybe a very good way to show your work, and if other people see that u`re good, they may include u in some of thier own future proyects.

(i hope u too understand me, i was as clear as posible:( )

And thanx for the info:)

It's good, give them more to play with.

Definitely. If people don't want to use it they don't have to. But at least they have the option. The more creativity and available skins, mods, maps, or whatever, the better.

well if you are talking about models/skins you made then by all means I think it's great. But if you are talkign about putting other peoples models who are your favorites (you know kind of like: naked tav is my favorite/"personal skin"... notice the sarcasm?) then you shoudl ask the author before doing anything like that.

Plus if it's the latter we are talking about, some people might allready have those models and it would be a waste for them to get them once again as part of your mod. Generally speaking it is a good idea to keep things seperate. Your mod and custom models/ maps being seperate will make files smaller and more download friendly. But as I said if you are talking about models which you created and which go with the theme of the mod than by all means put it in there. Just dont put models that are allready out there into the same zip file without letting people know there are a couple of megabytes of files in the zip that are not really needed and which they might have gotten allready, or worse which they might have taken off their comps because they didn;t like the said models.
