Ya, i've been in The Associates for about a week now...I was wondering if there was anything expected of me before the release of the game. Sure i'd like to get to know some of you better, but my RL gets in the way alot. Anyway, is there anything I'm required to do to stay in The Associates?

I am Jan Gaarni, director of the Commerce and Transportation group. So if you become a smuggler, you will come under my wing. ;)

If you decide to be a warrior you will be under Setsuko.

*turns around on her stool in the cantina*
Yes, that would be me. Sorry I couldn't greet you earlier, we had a... well... minor situation at an outpost not far from here. Damn pirates harrassing people again *sigh*. Anyway, that's taken care of now, so why don't you pull out a stool and settle down? Hey, let's make a deal: you buy the next round, and I'll give you the scoop on us Associates. Deal? Heh, I knew you'd listen to reason.
Okay, here's the deal. Yes, you are new in town. Most people here has known each other for a while. Some, even a year or two. So, get a used to be 'the new kid in class' for a while. Hey! Calm down, it wasn't meant like an insult, just advise: listen well to what the other members says. And now and then, say something thoughtful yourself. Or something that makes us laugh. And suddenly, it'll be like you were along all the way. Now, can you handle that blaster by your side, or should I look for someone else to join me for my weekly recon to the western woods?
(yes, I'll try to do a bit more RP (a bit more? Ok. I'll try to do some RP) from now on, since the release is not that far away, and we'll play on a RP server. You're free to join me if you like it and find it useful for figuring out your character, or you can just avoid me like a plague. ;) And the last thing was about if you'll join the armed forces or not, the =A='s combatant wing.)
02-16-2003, 04:43 PM
Wheeelcome! I think you'll enjoy the associates, every1 here is friendly and full of warm fuzzy feelings ;)
Heh, about the RP-thing. I keep saying to myself and others that I'll be RP'ing my character. But uhhhmm, I don't have any RP'ing experience! :D Those first few weeks of gaming will be hard 4 me.

Zendjir: quick hints: think of yourself speeking through your vision of you character. See in your mind a picture of him/her opening and closing his/her mouth, instead of yourself. And try, try, to lose the numbers in your speak. Keep your language appropriate to the situation: think of yourself. Do you speak and act exactly the same way at work/in school as when you are with only your parents? Or with your friends in a bar? Or if you are shopping? Propably not. And neither does your character. These are little hints, but it's all about making your character as believable as possibly. And that requires a bit of training, and concentration, not starting to talk about Superbowl when you are mining durasteel alloys.
One thing that really, REALLY helps, is if you know your character. That's the beginning and end of roleplaying. The rest is just making it flashier. Good luck! And if you have troubles, just gimme a shout, and I'll give you some pointers. :)
02-16-2003, 05:38 PM
Or, just be yourself, but as you would be in Star Wars. That means, no talk about earth stuff like fast Corvettes and such ... unless you're referring to Corellian once. :D
02-16-2003, 05:52 PM
*corzip sees the talking of RP in this thread and thinks to himself*
man.. people should play some RPG's on the role playing forums to get into it.
*corzip packs up is stuff and heads over to the 'smugglers moon'*

Varan gets up from his corner booth and walks over to Pnut
Rules? We don't have many rules yet. I'm Varan Gaagii, and Wraith and I are the leaders, so if we do make any commands you'll need to follow those. Also, as was said if you're a warrior you'll be under Setsuko's command. I myself am the head bounty hunter, so if you follow that path you'll be under my command. No matter what path you choose, however, you, and everyone else, are under Wraith and my own authority. Once we reach release there will be rules made in order to keep the group in order, but for now just stay active and you'll do fine. Don't, and no one will trust you. We've got a good group here, but alot of what we have runs on trust. If you can't be trusted, well, you're likely to not get as many benefits. While you're in the buying mood, why not buy me a round and start our relationship on a good foot, eh? Thanks. Oh, and welcome.
Varan walks back into his corner and sits in the shadows.
02-25-2003, 08:31 AM
*Corzip nods at what Varan just said*
He is right......
you should buy us a round :p
02-25-2003, 05:11 PM
setsuko observes the situation for a while, and then slaps Wraith 8 gently in the back of his head
Hey guys, cool off! At least he bought me a beer, that's what counts around here, right? *smiles*
Anyway, I still got a place to be filled for that patrol, are you in or out?
02-25-2003, 05:45 PM
*Corzip watches as Setsuko gently walks off*
uhmmm....... er..... did i say that out loud?
02-25-2003, 05:51 PM
*turns around and raise an eyebrow*
Nice ass, huh? *smirks*
Watch him scatter like a cockroach. They all do. *sigh*. Now, is there anyone with a fullgrown spine who'll accompany me, or not? Yes, I know those patrols can end up with a 30-minute hike without action, but it has to be done, I heard one of our miners might be stuck out there.
At least you'll have a "nice ass" to look at, since I doubt anyone in this bar can keep up the pace for long *loads a clip into her blaster*
02-25-2003, 05:59 PM
Ill go with yah... Maybe he has some stuff that needs moving. we will take a Dewback from Black dove with us to get home any stuff he might have.. or move him back here if he is hurt.
*checks both his blasters if they are charged*
02-25-2003, 06:07 PM
So, you stopped running, ey? Good. Oh, and Corzip, did you remeber to secure some termal detonators for me? No? Damn... I'm all out.
Sure, a dewback would make this easier. I'm all tooled up *'cept for the detonators, grumblegrumble*. Heading out in ten minutes, anyone interested grab their stuff quickly. I got a report from the explorers that there's bad weather brewing, so let's get this show on the road quickly. Oh, and save me that seat, will'ya, swediot?
02-25-2003, 06:17 PM
well i could ask Rune or Talain if they ahve some left on the shelves. wnat me to check?
02-25-2003, 06:32 PM
Sure, go ahead. I don't see any others joining up right now, so we might as well head off. I'll go fetch the dewback, and ask Black dove if he found any pet for me yet. I won't go for that slimy thing he seemed to have fished out of a swamp last week. Reeked, it did. Ew.
02-25-2003, 06:53 PM
Varan stands up and stretches.
Well, I'm the leader of this group, aren't I? I'll go with you. Besides, I'm not after any bounties right now. Ready when you are.
02-25-2003, 07:18 PM
*throws a macrobinocular into Varans hands*
Here, you've better at that than I am. Gather whatever gear you need and meet me outside in five, I'm getting the dewback.
*leaves the bar*
02-25-2003, 09:26 PM
Varan drains his mug then picks up his combat belt from the booth. It has two D-44 blasters, several spare clips a few grenades and a vibroblade. He also straps his vibrosword on his back, then pulls on his cloak over all this. He lifts up his rifle, swings it over his shoulder, and walks out of the bar.
02-25-2003, 10:03 PM
Thew gets up, checks the powercell in his S-5, and makes sure the two blasters under his shoulders are in place. Then he pulls on his long brown coat and grabs his rifle with one hand. He starts to head out of the bar.
Hey guys wait up!
02-26-2003, 12:46 PM
*Corzip returns from the Gun shop with a bag full of Thermal detonators. He walked up to Setsuko*
Go the blow up stuff. How many do yah want?
02-27-2003, 04:34 PM
*grabs three of them*
This should do, better to save the rest for a rainy day. So, everyone seems pretty tooled up, so no need for a trip to ye olde armoury. Ok, here's the plan. Simple recon, though we'll bring little daisy here *strokes the dewback, braaaah!*. Zendjir, keep a look out. Bad weather and pirates are reported. And keep your eyes peeled for that miner, those guys can even find trouble in a chocolate gnort shop. I'll provide cover if we get attacked, but I expect each of you to be able to handle yourself in a fight. Considering the toys you are bringing, this shouldn't be a problem.
Oh, and yes, I have dibs for the dewback on the way home!
02-27-2003, 05:02 PM
*Corzip picks 4 thermal detonaters out of the bag and clips 2 of them on his belt. the other 2 he puts in his backpack.*
Ok.. lets head out.
02-27-2003, 08:36 PM
Varan takes one out of the bag, clips it on belt.
02-28-2003, 10:57 AM
*as they walk off, Corzip puts a small earphone in his ear*
02-28-2003, 11:13 AM
*walks casually with a repeating blaster thrown over her shoulder, and after a while she looks curiously at the earphone*
What's that thing you got there, Corzip?
02-28-2003, 05:29 PM
*Looks at Setsuko*
Well, last time i went on a smuggling mission, i hacked into a security network of the imperials. I was able to hear all their com traffic in the area. it might come in handy.
02-28-2003, 06:49 PM
True, some nosy imps might be one of the things we are not interested in meeting, considering our armament and our dewback. Seriously, when I saw that look on Black Rose's face, you know that "I've done something I shouldn't done, though at least I got a dewback out of it" face... makes me wonder if there's not a big "PROPERTY OF THE EMPERIAL ARMY" mark somewhere on it. Geez, what a rubble we are, ey?
03-01-2003, 08:42 AM
you are so right
03-01-2003, 04:50 PM
And that, Zendjir, is RPGing. :D
03-01-2003, 08:43 PM
/OOC: As I said, it's mostly about getting to know your character. Once you do, RPing is a breeze. Now, it might not be so easy to figure out your character in the beginning. Hell knows, I'm far from figuring out mine. But just like real people, you'll learn more every time you hang out with them, and after some time, they'll be almost as real as any person out there. And the more interesting a character you make, the more interesting it will be for you to hang out with!
03-01-2003, 09:35 PM
Let me put what I just wrote into context, so I don't seem like such a hippie: most of my best friends, I can guess what they will do in most situations, and even what words they'll use seconds before they say them, simply becauses I know them so well. When you know a character that well too, you won't have to stop and try to figure out what he/she/it should do to stay in character; you'll know it by instinct. And since the character is a projection of your imagination, it's a bit easier! ;)
03-03-2003, 07:59 PM
Talain walks in.
"Hey, somebody wanted Thermal Detonators?"
He hands setsuko a small bag
"Be careful with those things."
03-04-2003, 12:23 AM
NO WHAT ARE YOU DOING DONT LET HER TOUCH THOSE !!!!
03-04-2003, 04:41 PM
*almost the entire group looks at Swediot.
riiiiight.... lets move on
03-04-2003, 05:44 PM
*points her thumb at Swediot with a face looking like a question mark*
