I hope some people realize that there is a story beind a song. At least some song (rap is no story). I was wondering. Name the song then the story you think it is.

Mine is: Headstrong.
Story: A woman wants the guy yet betrays him at the end and he gotta fight them all.

Now type! TYPE TILL YOUR FINGERS ARE BLOODY MUHAHAHAHA- ............ I mean uh you go :D

Pff my butt, rap is no story? how about "T.R.O.Y"? by Pete Rock and CL Smooth?. He's talking about his childhood and family, i think that's a story, HIS story in fact.

Rap/Hip-Hop has lots of stories (at least before 1996, now the major labels are producing a vast amount of crap! like 99.9%.)

Yeah uhmm sorry for being off topic...

I agree with the...ummm...psycho guy. Some rap has a story. Demonstration--
Artist: Tupac
Song: Brenda's Got a Baby
Story: A girl gets pregnant at age 12. The song describes her struggles with her family who is only worried about collecting welfare checks and the consequences of her and her family's actions.

id say that alot of rap songs have messages and meaning to them...for instance, alot of 2 pac songs really tell a story, same with nas....
Nas - Dance is a great song with Nas talking about how his mother passes away...its a great song...

btw, 1000'th post, wahoo! :)

But the real question is.... Who can understand what they're singing enough to figure out the story?

Depends who's rappin', Chuck D was always a fav of mine...but i guess i'm old school. Blackalicious got some good lyrics too for a "new school" rapper.

but gangsta rap is not the same ;).

GOD, by John Lennon

God is a concept
By which we measure
Our pain
I'll say it again
God is a concept
By which we measure
Our pain
I don't believe in magic
I don't believe in I-ching
I don't believe in Bible
I don't believe in tarot
I don't believe in Hitler
I don't believe in Jesus
I don't believe in Kennedy
I don't believe in Buddha
I don't believe in Mantra
I don't believe in Gita
I don't believe in Yoga
I don't believe in kings
I don't believe in Elvis
I don't believe in Zimmerman
I don't believe in Beatles
I just believe in me
Yoko and me
And that's reality
The dream is over
What can I say?
The dream is over
Yesterday
I was the Dreamweaver
But now I'm reborn
I was the Walrus
But now I'm John
And so dear friends
You'll just have to carry on
The dream is over

This is about his breakup with the Beatles. Really deep song

I would say most rap, if not all, has a story; just like any song for that matter. There is tons of socialism in each song. Explains life, goals, images, roots, ect.

Yeah leave him alone :), sorry dude, it's all my fault.

I pick "Chemical strangle" by Downset...basically a song about how the human race is destroying earth ressources and living beings.

Congrats!

Yeah, dance is a great song.
Also Loose Yourself by Eminem has a good story. I think its about how the rap game has been for Eminem, when he was struggeling to become famous. Hmm, there are many good rap songs with good stories!
