View Full Version : Should I buy it?

02-16-2003, 02:55 PM
I'm aching for KotOR, but I need to know if it's coming out within 30 days, cause I saw this deal at best buy, Jedi Starfighter for $20 and free shipping...

I need to know more about the game though before I buy it. How many levels are in it, how many ships can I fly, and what ships can i fly.

i just bought half-life and am not sure whether to buy another game so soon, but if this is a deal I should not pass up, i need to know why.

I decided that I'll wait. lol I can't wait to play KotOR this wait is killing me!!!!!!

What system would you be getting it for?

XBox's Jedi Starfighter is a special edition with some extra missions I think.

(How can you pass up a 20 dollar game like that?) :)

02-16-2003, 04:46 PM
KOTOR will most likely not be out in 30 days. It's slated for a May release, and they may even change that.

Get Jedi Starfighter, but you better damn well have enough money to buy KOTOR when it comes out!

Jedi Starfighter can be addicting at times. It's way better than Rogue Squadron was.(loved that game for some reason though.)
For 20 dollars though I'd definitely get it.

co-op alone is worth the price :)

02-16-2003, 05:22 PM
Bah, personally....I think the game sucks. I would get something else....but it sounds like price is right.

Sounds like a great deal, I would definetly get it.

--This seems like a good thread to keep up to ask people about games.--

Anyone played Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance? Been thinking about getting it.

02-17-2003, 10:44 AM
Do not get it.

It gets boring after a while. And the missions are shorter than yoda's leg.

02-17-2003, 10:47 AM
I forgot to mention that I have the original, and it's ok I just wish the levels were larger and that mp didn't have the stupid annoying ion trail thing which made it not so fun.

Com Raven

Well, some of the later missions can get quite long, considering that you can't save in-mission...

02-17-2003, 03:39 PM
It ticks me off when games don't let you save in mission to artificially extend the game's length.

Why are consoles games always more expensive then PC games? What I mean is it takes longer for the game prices to drop on most of em, PC games they get cheaper fairly fast. I guess because console technology does not progress till the next console comes out whereas PC is constantly progressing....

I'm guessing because console makers rely on games to make a profit. They lose money on their console, and try to make it up with higher game prices.

PC developers don't have to worry about that. They just make the games, sell'em, and make a profit faster.

Just speculation on my part though.

Oh yeah, Jedi Starfighter is over so quickly it's not even funny. Far, far too easy.

02-17-2003, 06:33 PM
Hey nice to see you around again Darth Simpson! ;) :D

I need a recommendation here.....I'm going to get one of the UT. Which should I buy....UT2003 or U2?

Jedi Apprentice

I just bought Obi-Wan and Jedi Starfighter today. (found them cheap) I think I like Obi-Wan's LS system better than JO actually. Obi-Wan's a better game than the reviewers make it out to be.

Rogue if you haven't already bought Jedi Starfighter, get it now. It might be a short game, but it also offers co-op to lenghten the experience. You get to fight Jango Fett! That's almost worth the 20 bucks right there.

Jedi Apprentice's advice (yes I'm talking about my self in 3rd person)--Get the game. :)

Leemu-- I think they are almost the same game, but I've definitely read better things about UT then I have U2. My choice would be UT. I played it once at a friends house. It was a lot of fun. I haven't played U2 though.

Darth Simpson

Thanks Leemu.

Depends on what you want actually. If you're looking for multiplayer action, get UT2003. U2 is a singleplayer game only, and it's decent, however it's not really that good, as the hype would have you believe.

I'd rather have U2 than the Quake 3 clone UT2003 though, but that's me.

02-18-2003, 06:09 AM
Get UT2K3 then we can hook up and shoot the crap out of each other! :D

Seriously though, I havn't played U2 but I own UT2K3 and I love it. If you love FPS games, this is hardcore and it will get your addrenaline pumping.

Well, thanks for your opinions.....I am indeed looking for some mp though. It sounds like UT2003 is what I'm looking for......I did not know that U2 was sp only....

LeXXy I'm looking forward to the challenge. :D

Btw-When I move I'll be one hour closer to you....time zone wise that is. :)

02-18-2003, 03:13 PM
Leemu, I thought you had UC? If you do don't get UT 2K3, because its basiclly the same thing with better graphics and mods but no voice support.

Personally, I didn't like it because the server browser sucked. Most games are only populated by bots and you can't filter it for humans only. And then most games are instagib. And almost no one plays it, most games that have people have like 3 or 4, whereas there are hundreds of BF 1942 servers that have 25-64 people.

I can e-mail you a list of games I suggest if you want.

UT2K3 has one of the best FPS bots I have seen and played(challenging wise that is), and its a great MP and pretty good SP.

The wait is killing all of us, who want it for PC! I hate looong waits!
I think it was good to wait. I mean Jedi Starfighter isnt that great a game, but for 20 bucks and free shipping. I'd buy it to that price :D!

02-19-2003, 12:35 PM
Yeah Clemme, I'm waiting for Knights on PC as well. :) I've been patient, I can wait a little longer. Oh btw-I'm still getting it for my xbox too. :D

I think I'm going to go and buy UT2003 today. Even though my new pc isn't here and it's not going to be put together for at least a week. I also already have JO. :D

OT-Now, is GB any good?

Jedi Apprentice
02-19-2003, 05:46 PM
If you liked Age of Empires then GB is a nice alternative. Especially since you can now buy it with the expansion for only 45 dollars. It's a lot of fun if you ask me, but only if you liked AOE. :)

When I feel less lazy I can compile a big list of games you should play, Leemu.

Course me not feeling lazy could take weeks....

Jedi Star Fighters not a bad game if you like your flight games, you can fly the jedi ship the slave 1, a havoc bomber, a fast little ship and some others, i can't remember though, it's not a bad game for $20 though, which is about 13 or 14

dark jedi 8
03-17-2003, 04:06 PM
yep, its a pretty good game. i just got it a couple of weeks ago at best buy for 20 bucks.

plus with the LONGO cheat, you can fly all sorts of ships like-

republic gunship
slave I

and all the missions are unlocked with that code as well! all in all its a pretty great game for $20.
