the Best RPG Game.

Although I havn't played too many rpgs I have played a few,
My favorite is Ultima 7
there was a main quest and then there was little quests you could do for fun in the towns. You were able to go all over the world at any time you wanted. All the Npc's were cool, you got to ride a magic carpet, and save the world from the fellowship. I hope this star wars game will be as good at that :). I actually Liked ultima 7 over any of the final fantasys. Believe me or not :)

Thread moved to the Atho Cantina as this doesn't deal directly with Kotor. :)

Welcome to StarWarsKnights.com Void08. :D Enjoy your time here. Also be sure to check out the code of conduct/forum rules thread. Any other questions, just ask. :)

[EDIT - OT, my favorite would have to be Zelda OoT. :)]

I liked the original Zelda, though the levels were pretty annoying after a while, it was still fun, and I also liked Super Mario for SNES!!!!! I don't think Marios an RPG though

I remember spending countless hours playing Super Mario for the SNES, it was the best. it was the first game i ever played. I don't have that game system anymore so i havn't played it for a few years. none of the mario games since then can even compare, in my opinion.

Well, I haven't really play any other RPGs other than Zelda. Although I hear Morrow Wind is actually a good game, but I'll be getting it as part of a game bundle with the card. ;) Who knows, I might like the game as I'm not much for RPGs.

What I got to play of NeverWinter Nights at my cousins house seemed really fun. The only one I've played through in a long time though is Dungeon Siege. Dark Age of Camelot was also decent, but its a MMORPG.

Mario and Zelda are not RPGs. The only statistical roleplay they have (that communicates your identity) is points and hearts. No they are platformers and hack n' slash adventures.

As far as RPGs go, like most gamers and evn most hardcore gamers, I've played only a sweet handful. Morrowind goes on top of the list, because it is the peak of roleplaying games. Of course people are now realizing its greatness and we are getting such innovative titles as Fable and a few other quite wacky creations.

Pokemon was fun for a short while, PSO was nice with it's mixture of hack n' slash and RPG elements. Never played NWN but I've heard it ranks right under Morrowind as the greatest of all-time.

Of course, we all know the next superb addition coming in a few months - it's teh reason we're all here! r2d22

I shall have Morrowind with my video card soon to see how an RPG is actually like. :) So this'll be my first RPG for the computer.

Congrats, and you might want to get a low volt prod type thing to shock you every day or two and remind you that you have a life.

FF7, FF10, FF tatics, Zelda64, all PC RPgs are substandard to RPG consoles, Xenogears is my all time favorite

Naphtali, unless you've played every PC RPG ever made, I dunno if you can really accurately make that statement. There are tons of great console RPGs but there are many good PC RPGs too. The first RPG I played was Final Fantasy VII, and the second one I played was Baldur's Gate. I didn't much like Baldur's Gate, but that didn't mean there wern't other great PC RPGs. I can make a list(Not complete, of course).

Anachronox(A console style RPG for the PC)
Deus Ex
Morrowind
Divine Divinity
Arx Fatalis
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
Fallout
Fallout 2
Planescape: Torment

Theres some good ones, something for everyone in that lot. My all time favorite game is Morrowind, so I reccomend that so highly. Not just because its an excellent game, but you get SO much out of it- I've played for like 300 or 400 hours and am not done with it.

And I would agree on Zelda and Mario not being RPGs. Mario is a platformer, and Zelda is an action adventure. In fact, if you want to be particular, almost no console RPGs are true RPGs. The term RPG means "Role playing game" because you could play any role you could imagine. However, most console games, like the Final Fantasy series, give you a predefined role and charecter. What happened is Wizardry was not only popular in the US, but in Japan. Hoping to cash in on its succes, Dragon Warrior called itself and RPG. Final Fantasy then did that too(And it was kinda an RPG since you choose the classes of your charecters). But then the later incarnations of FF changed. And then those influenced other console RPGs.

Don't get me wrong, I like Console RPGs(Except that I hate random battles) but I sometimes think they should be called, like, story oriented action adventure or SOAA or something.

hey aero, i'm sure you'll like Fable, www.planetxbox.com/projectego

It lets you shape your character from youth and he'll age throughout the game. Everything you do has an affect on the game! you'll never play the exact game twice, and the thing that's cool is that your character is whatever you want him to be! You can be good, or evil. for instance, if you get into a little bar fight and cut a man in self-defense, a couple 'years' down the road, you might run into him again, you might not know it until you see the scar. :D

I've been following this game since last year, and am getting really excited, tho it doesn't come out til next winter. =/ it's going to be the game that all rpgs will attempt to live up to!!

I'll read info next time a new preview comes out- I've been avoiding info because getting myself hyped up won't make the game come out faster, and also so I can be suprised by it. But from the little I know it sounds like it will be good. I wasn't a huge fan of Black and White, though.

that's a very wise decision. cause if the game sucks....i'm going to go storm into the developer's studios and plant some c4..and you get the picture. :D

Yes but then it would be the last game you played. Our prison systems don't supply consoles. Though I think they should.

Without a doubt Baldur's Gate series and Neverwinter Nights...

Bringing a almost dead genre back to life on the pc is no small feat...

NWN

NWN = Neverwinter Nights

And I have to agree that it's an incredibly good RPG game. I severaly dislike the SP campaign(I really can't get into it), and had it laying around for a couple o' months, thinking it was wasted money... then I found Neverwinter connections, and began to play a few MP games. Quite frankly, NWN is an incredible game in MP, coming as close to tabletop Roleplaying as possible.

Fallout also deserves a special mention in my book. In fact, it was the game that downright told me that RPGs on computers can have roleplaying in it. I especially love the SPECIAL system which allows you to create any class you want.

Another favorite RPG of mine will have to be Final Fantasy VIII. It was, in fact, one of the first RPGs I bought for the PC. I saw the box laying in a store and thought that it might be interesting(I had NO idea about the legacy of FF in that time). TO put it bluntly, the game totally captured me for the upcoming weeks, and I played it without abandon... truly one of the best experiences I ever had.

A special noteworthy RPG I recently played is Tactics Ogre for the GBA. I've played Golden Sun for the GBA, and even though that is an excellent game, I like Tactics Ogre more. You see, this game offers something that I don't see often in other console RPGs : The ability to fully customise the characters, including the main character. Instead of forcing on you that one character is a healer, one is a wizard and one is a fighter(rather standard for RPGs, is it not? ;) ), you're personally allowed to choose what kind of class you and your allies have. Furthermore, with the ability to construct a team of up to 32 characters and many(up to 20-30) classes, the game offers replayability.
It also had excellent character development... the main character starts out as a lone, pretty weak soldier... by the end, he is a powerful warrior and leader of a band of heroes he personally trained and fought with. And heck, the game even offers various path to the ending.. och, and did I mention that there are 4 different endings?
I know that it may not sound THAT revolutionising when compared to PC RPGs, but believe me, it is a masterpiece for the GBA.
