I got 1 32 inch TV that we watch DVDs and TV on, a 27 inch TV I play games on(I don't get to play on the big TV because my parents don't want game noises upstairs). At our cabin on Whidbey Island, we have 1 27 inch in the living room and 1 27 inch in my room(But its like 11 years old).

Oh, I forgot the TV at my family's vacation home...

It's 27 inches, but I hate playing on it.

Why you ask? Because the color is off...bad. And you can't fix it.

But it only effects the Video games, not the TV.

I have a crappy 21" in my room which I use to play all kinds of games.

But every now and then, I take my xbox downstairs and hook it up with the HDTV kit to the 55" HDTV in 5:1. I don't play Halo... I live it. Splinter Cell is pretty damn immersive in there too.

Only thing about rear projections is the problem when playing games, don't wanna burn the TV

My dad walks in while I was playing Rogue Leader and he said, don't play it too long or you'll ruin the tv, even with games mode on. I just turned around like _ don't watch the cricket or you'll ruin the tv with that with the stupid little score box in the corner.

I guess I'd have to stick the HDTVs in that case, they may be bigger, but in this way... They shouldn't overheat as much, but Idk much about those tvs either.

Right now in Australia there's not point buying a digital TV... most TV stations till haven't invested that much money into converting over to digital... we're supposed to completely convert to digit by 2008 but *shrugs*

I guess I should be somewhat glad not to live in that country for that reason? Of course I don't watch TV or play a console on one either, but if I do, it's usually rare. So that wouldn't matter much anyways. :)

think about it whats the point of digital television besides the fact that the bastards can now track what we watch when we watch it and display certain adverts accordingly? If i want to watch something in high quality I'll go get some DVDs

Here's how Progressive San works and what it does:

Normal DVD players scan the entire screen so many times a second and redisplay the entire image every time (called scanning refreshing), but the entire image doesn't necessarily need updated and redisplayed every time it scans. If you notice most of the screen during a movie is background imagery that remains nearly the same throughout a scene, it's the images in the foreground (Actors, vehicles, explosions etc.) that need the most updating and redisplaying. Progressive scan scans and only updates the items that need updating, making for faster refresh rates and, consequently, a smoother, cripser image.

Progressive Scan is necessary if you have a High Definition TV, because the HD will pickup the normal scanning and slower refresh rates and cause lines in the image.

Cool resurrected thread.

For movies, I have a 29" normal old-school tv and... that's it. Not planning in investing in anything else until I move out of my current pad.

For games I have my trusted Intel pc with 21" normal old-school screen.

No consoles! But thinking about, waiting until the next XBox is released and buying an old one (cheap-o after the price drop) so I can finally play Jade Empire.

Went a little off-topic there, but I guess it's no prob in a thread like this.

The TV I have in my appartment is a 27 inch RCA. Its about 10 years old or so. I decided when I moved out to either get a new monitor or TV. I chose monitor. I don't regret it, but a new TV isn't far off. I can't see playing the Twilight Princess on the POS I have now. (though, Its held up very well, I might have to look into another RCA TV.) I'm thinking a plasma widescreen TV would do nicely. HI-definition, ofcourse!

I have a 27 inch sony flatscreen which fills more than all my needs as I watch very little TV: about 1/2 hour per day to watch some news (which suck on tv about 95% of the time - I prefer other sources), occasionally a movie or an xbox game ( but I prefer my PC :D ) and that's all. I am not planning to purchase any new tv before a while as it would just stand there unused.

I have a 27 inch in our living and thats it, my Dad believes in rebuilding everything you can find. Speaking of gaming tvs, my friends cousin works for some company or another, and they were fixing those enormous Imax screens, and they plugged in a GCN and played mario cart splitscreen.
